Hogan is an idiot. He bladed himself twice, he sold every move and he made himself bleed by holding his breath (yes kids, that is how you gush a bucket)... Then he complained about Abby, who not only agreed for him to kick out of the Meat Cleaver elbow drop, but let him no sell that "Hulking Out" nonsense he used to do, when Abby was a bigger star in Japan than he was.
I am a pro wrestler myself and please don´t get me wrong, I have much respect for Mr Shreeve but I think it is almost unbelievable that Abby made a whole career just for doing blade jobs on him and others - with the same blade or fork btw! Abby's style was too "EXTREME" for the WWF at the time because it was aimed at children, that and Abby's a nomad, he wouldn't stay at WWF cause he'd be there forever.
Same thing with Bruiser Brody. Dave Meltzer in his tribute to him said that Brody was offered a pretty big contract to join the WWF in 86-87 and he would have had main event status but he refused because of the politics and hard schedule.
when i was a kid growing up back in the 80s, there was 2 wrestlers that just scared the hell out of me, One was Abdullah, the other was Ivan Koloff. years later when i met Abby for an autograph, and he shook my hand, and started talking to me with a big smile, it blew my freakin mind! lol he is a great guy, one of the most nice people i have ever met. I met Koloff also. Ivan treated us like long lost friends, he is a great guy also, both are truely great, and not crazy monsters at all! lol
yes i knew he is canadian. and really so is Ivan Koloff. both of them were really nice when i met them.. thats great. there are 2 nice canadians in the world!! lol. just kidding, people from canadia are cool
good no sells-by hogan but better takes from abby. the butch was puttin the new dude over, but there is no disguising hogan's so-so moves post-switch.
In 1981, Hulk Hogan was lucky to wrestle Abdullah the Butcher, who was extremely popular in Japan. Hulkamania only exploded in 1983.
Other than being an awesome physical specimen and a very good interview, Hogan had little actual wrestling ability and had absolutely no clue on how to put his opponents over. The only reason his Wrestlemania main events were halfway decent is because of the work put in by his opponents. His match with Warrior at WM6 sucked!
Dude are you actually watching these matches with Hogan in Japan? It proves he did have wrestling ability. Look at his Anoki and other japan matchs. Stop hating just to hate and look at the proof. Vince made him not use all of his wrestling moves.. hell he did the same to others (thats one of the reasons Teddy Hart did not get along back stage with them cause they wanted to strip him of moves to be more bland. Kinda like RVD was in ECW vs WWE.. no contest RVD did more in ECW, blame VINCE!
It was actually a pleasure for a very green Hogan to wrestle Abdullah. Abdullah was the highest paid overseas wrestler in Japan, and had much success.
Abdullah worked in nearly every major wrestling promotion in the world, except WWE. He has also taken part of Juggalo Championship Wrestling owned by the Insane Clown Posse, facing off against Pogo the Clown and Jake Roberts[6]. Even at his age, he still makes wrestling appearances and still works matches as brutal as he did in his youth accompanied by his signature fork
That's interesting cause I remember him coming out and McMahon saying "This man is one of the most brutal men in this sport."Or something along those lines. I know he wasn't there long, but he was there.
Abdullah The Butcher is coming to my hometown to wrestle along with Sid Vicious,Jim "the anvil" Neidhart,Hannibal,Pierre Carl Oullette,Sylvain Grenier and Tiger Raj Singh.
