@hauzin "So St. Nectarios of Aegina has copied this for Agni Parthene? Listen carefully you notice this..." Maybe there is a simple explanation: the songs are both attributed to the Virgin Mary. Sometimes someone likes a tune and makes other great music with it, centuries later. :)
This is beautiful! What happened to the white tuxedo?? In my opinion opinion it's classier and bolder than a regular black tux. I'm bringing it BACK!!! XD
What is the name of this specific piece? I love it, but I have an album of "Cantigas de Santa Maria", and it's not on that album.
I think this piece was used in the 1951 film "Pandora and the Flying Dutchman". In the movie, James Mason is the Flying Dutchman, condemned to sail the seas for eternity for blaspheming at his murder trial (he mistakenly killed his wife)., unless he can find a woman willing to die for him. In the movie, the ghostly crew of the ship sings this.
Of course there is a mistake in the description. This is music of the Mid Ages ("medieval"), from the time in which Spain was still divided in a Christian and a Muslim part, but Baroc music was still to come (about 3-4 centuries!)

OMFG hans zimmer has copied this for Pirates of Carribian, wtf? listen carefully you notice this... i used to be impressed by the pirates of carribian songs but now i know its just copied shit... makes me mad
@hauzin Hey, don't be hatin' on Hans Zimmer! He's a great film composer who I look up to now for ideas for writing my own epic music, and if anything, he got inspired by this piece. Even if he copied this, at least he has good taste and may have influenced people in liking this kind of beautiful music.
This instrument (the Yepes ten string guitar as opposed to other ten string guitars) was designed by Yepes himself, mostly for his playing. A craftsman then put it together. To my knowledge, nobody currently playing uses it. Apparently mastering this guitar is very difficult. See Wikipedia for the article on "Narciso Yepes". You might try googling for it but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Actually, there's a community of Yepes 10 string guitar players. My teacher plays one. He was taught by Fritz Buss who was a pupil of Yepes. Other players include Simon Wynberg, also a student of Buss.

Somebody tell me about one video you can see him using the strings 7 to 10. I haven´t seen him doing so.

Who on earth would even be on this page and take the time to "thumbs down" this clip? This music is transcendental.

According to wiki, there are 427; the global authorship of El Sabio is contested but he certainly composed many of them.
drewdavis58 2 years ago
I didnt know the exact number but i knew there were over 400 and that el El Sabio X wrote -allegedly- all of them.
but the thing i want to know is the number or name of this one :S
thanks anyway for the quick reply!

Put together by Ramirez, a genius luthier! ;)
The main purpose of the guitar was to tune the strings so that the guitar had a fully chromatic resonance! Difficult words..
