  • @hectobills I have the sheet music

  • @hauzin "So St. Nectarios of Aegina has copied this for Agni Parthene? Listen carefully you notice this..." Maybe there is a simple explanation: the songs are both attributed to the Virgin Mary. Sometimes someone likes a tune and makes other great music with it, centuries later. :)

  • nice playing... i looked for the score of this piece but i did not find... i am learning it by earing him playing...

  • tHIS IS THE "CANTIGA 353" !!!!!!!

  • Can someone IDENTIFY the SONG 2 1/2 Minutes into this video?????? watch?v=kLUCC0H3v90

  • Try putting a barré on that one !

  • This is beautiful! What happened to the white tuxedo?? In my opinion opinion it's classier and bolder than a regular black tux. I'm bringing it BACK!!! XD

  • Nobleza.

Somebody tell me about one video you can see him using the strings 7 to 10. I haven´t seen him doing so.

  • Is there a video where he actually uses the extra strings on his guitar?

  • What is the name of this specific piece? I love it, but I have an album of "Cantigas de Santa Maria", and it's not on that album.

I think this piece was used in the 1951 film "Pandora and the Flying Dutchman". In the movie, James Mason is the Flying Dutchman, condemned to sail the seas for eternity for blaspheming at his murder trial (he mistakenly killed his wife)., unless he can find a woman willing to die for him. In the movie, the ghostly crew of the ship sings this.

  • Who on earth would even be on this page and take the time to "thumbs down" this clip? This music is transcendental.

  • IM still unable to find the sheet or tab from edition schott? Is there another source?

  • @vinnothelizard you are an asshole.

  • I think this was composed in the 1200's

  • his guitar neck is like highway

  • i like this piece, sounds so great,i play it by ear sometimes, it seems to b in open G tuning, i like this :) a great treat for our ears, :)

  • how the hell does he play the top strings? that neck is insanely wide, its like a double guitar fused into one!

  • My favorite ones are 1, 4, 100 and the 353, also present in this video.

  • By the way: it doesn´t look like a difficult music to play. Does anybody know where can I get the music sheet? (of course, for guitar)

    Thanks

  • Of course there is a mistake in the description. This is music of the Mid Ages ("medieval"), from the time in which Spain was still divided in a Christian and a Muslim part, but Baroc music was still to come (about 3-4 centuries!)

  • OGrandeFanfarrao: yes, you' re right

  • great!!!!

  • This is not baroque music, right? the description is a tad incorrect then...

  • @btonasse Good point; I may change it to "Spanish early music guitar solo"

  • @drewdavis58 Someone who makes musical instruments in Vienna just informed me this is "Medieval music."

  • @btonasse No! the song was writed by Alfonso X (1221-1284).

  • someone know where I can find the score? thx!!!

  • beautiful music!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes! It's a collection of prayers and vows put in music by Alfonso X "el Sabio" de Castilla y Leòn during the XIII century.

  • bella qst canzone!!

  • Google "edition Schott" and search for "Cantigas de Santa Maria"

  • @drewdavis58

sry but still cant find it.

    Do you have more informations?

  • @drewdavis58

    i still cant find it.

    do you have more informations?

  • anybody knows the number of this songs in the cantigas?

    gracias / thanks

  • According to wiki, there are 427; the global authorship of El Sabio is contested but he certainly composed many of them.

  • I didnt know the exact number but i knew there were over 400 and that el El Sabio X wrote -allegedly- all of them.

but the thing i want to know is the number or name of this one :S

thanks anyway for the quick reply!

  • Cantigas : 7, 47 and 79 make up a large part of this arrangement. I have some lyrics if you are interested.

  • Thank you for your reply. Yes I'd be very interested in those lyrics!

  • C47

Esta é como Santa Maria guardou

    Uirgen Santa Maria guarda-nos,

  • Before I continue, I'd like to hear from you as I see you've already got lyrics to C47 on your channel.

  • Whats the ending dance called with the flute--there is more to that movement?

  • Were next video?)

  • They next one: Narciso Yepes Trio - Espanoletas, Pavana de Espana Gallarda

  • OMFG hans zimmer has copied this for Pirates of Carribian, wtf? listen carefully you notice this... i used to be impressed by the pirates of carribian songs but now i know its just copied shit... makes me mad

  • Yes you are correct jajajaj. This music was composed by the King "Alfonso X El Sabio" a lot of centurys ago jajaj.

  • In the 12nd century, there is no pirates of carribian..

  • @hauzin

virtually all music copies something else in a way, and thats kinda what Zimmer was going for, this style

  • @hauzin I think nothing is ever new in human knowledge... we just keep updating and reinventing things that already exist.

  • @walkingmess How can you say nothing is new? lol, then we wouldnt be where we are today. But i know what you mean, you just said it in a wrong way.

  • @hauzin Hey, don't be hatin' on Hans Zimmer! He's a great film composer who I look up to now for ideas for writing my own epic music, and if anything, he got inspired by this piece. Even if he copied this, at least he has good taste and may have influenced people in liking this kind of beautiful music.

  • @hauzin

everyone copies and in my personal opinion if you are well able to do it it's not sin.

  • @Doctor293 If you copy something you should give the original credit for it, not hide it.

  • great music. anyone knows of other peices like this one ?

  • Where can I find this instrument?

  • Johny1G,

This instrument (the Yepes ten string guitar as opposed to other ten string guitars) was designed by Yepes himself, mostly for his playing. A craftsman then put it together. To my knowledge, nobody currently playing uses it. Apparently mastering this guitar is very difficult. See Wikipedia for the article on "Narciso Yepes". You might try googling for it but I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • Put together by Ramirez, a genius luthier! ;)

The main purpose of the guitar was to tune the strings so that the guitar had a fully chromatic resonance! Difficult words..

  • Actually, there's a community of Yepes 10 string guitar players. My teacher plays one. He was taught by Fritz Buss who was a pupil of Yepes. Other players include Simon Wynberg, also a student of Buss.

  • Sublime

  • Yepes 100%.

  • anyone knows where can one get notes for this piece?

  • Exelente maestro

el numero uno en la guitarra clasica

le pese a quien le pese

  • Great! *****

  • Yepes has magic about him.Always intriguing and Evocative ,he is Never Dull.

  • Grande Maestro!
