The reason he was prosecuted is because there's a witch hunt mentality towards ANYONE accused of child molestation. And the California legislature passed a law afterward forbidding the practice of including a clause in a settlement which precluded someone from testifying against a defendant.

It was not MJ - in fact he wanted to fight it but those in charge of his affairs decided it was actually cheaper to pay than to drag it out in the courts which would have went on for months. At that time Michael would have lost a lot more millions as he was at the height of his career. It was all money motivated but he wanted to fight it.

@NOMCCBAMA When Chandler could not get it out of Michael that way he drugged his son with a very powerful and controversial drug which is used to make subconcious suggestions and only after that did he make the allegations. It is a long story and not enough space here but please do a bit of digging and you will easily see what the rest of us already know. If you want to speak up against Michael do it only after you have tried to find the truth for yourself otherwise you are being unjust.

In regards to why a settlement was still paid, I would suggest reading Geraldine Hughes book "The Redemption" and to read Mary Fischer's online article from GQ Magazine concerning the 1993/1994 case. You'll discover how MJ was actually encouraged and forced to pay off despite him being innocent.

The only evidence that was presented was heresay from those who had a vested interest in bringing Michael down but their lies were so evident that they failed. Each one of the witnesses against him had a hidden agenda (book deals, magazine stories etc.) and were motivated by greed. Nevertheless they were a laughing stock. MJ would fight this time and he won.

This is devastating and sad. I want my childhood back and wish that MJ was still alive. It's tragic that it took his death for me to rediscover how cool he was. Jordan Chandler said it never happened until his father got custody-- he would later assault him with a dumbell, mase and almost kill him---and your siding with this father over Michael Jackson?

Talk to McKauley Culkin who was outraged because a so-called 'eye witness' claimed she saw Michael indecently fondling him and then forgot and changed her story etc.etc.etc.etc.

There was so much evidence to show the opposite as anyone who followed the trial and saw the evidence will tell you. A criminal investigative journalist who was on his trail and ready to convict him did a complete 180 degree turnaround once she witnessed the trial and did her own digging. Read the facts not the tabloids.

William, your reply to me 9 hours ago says first we have to clear MJ's name in the minds of those who live in Santa Barbara county. I assume that's where the grand jury pool would come from, so must get them impartial; is there another way to get a grand jury indictment without drawing from the county residents? Sounds like a long uphill battle (but one definitely fighting for). Is this do-able by class action? But I assume plaintiffs need standing to sue and alas we fans have no standing.

YES. The entire prosecution team, including the executive branches of the "justice" system, namely the individuals of the law enforcement, who mishandled Mr. Michael Jackson and his property... should ALL BE INDICTED.
