The total war games can be better or worse depending on your historical interest. Since I love 18th and 19th century history, Empire & Napoleon were orgasmic.
Same, I also love ancient history so Rome was also up there for me. I Also am very interested in the crusades so the Medieval crusade add-on was also up there. I have Shogun 2, and although the game play and graphics are fantastic, I find myself not playing it as much as fuedel Japan is not a huge interest of mine.
@MrDeano324 Same here. I think Empire total war 2 would be brilliant, for the 1800s rather than the 1700s. Or maybe English civil war total war, or even WW1.
They would be great, although I am hoping for a Victoria: Total War. The victorian era was a time of global war, with Great Britain stretching across Africa and India and fighting the crimean war, meanwhile, North America was in chaos as a result of all out civil war. Also the french revolution of 1848 and Frances continued hatred of Great Britains growing Empire frayed relations once again. The Victorian era would be the perfect setting for a Total War game.
the double shot was 2 cannonballs into each cannon and not accurate over long range.
Get close to an enemy and a broadside would be devasting though straight through an enemy ships side.
The trick here is to survive long enough to get within range,. all this time you are getting shot to peices and taking casualties without being able to reply.
The discipline on board the british ships must have been tremendous.
The real historic battle had Spanish ships in it as well, this isn't the real trafalgar battle, the historic setup version of the Battle in this game had Spanish Ships as well as French ships. The guy's just playing a random battle and dubbed it trafalgar.
@Tylzen I understand about chain shot, but you should of either fired Grapeshot and canaster shot and borded the ship, or fire round shot into her hull to sink her (you could fire dobble shot, but I don't know if this game has dobble shot). I like to cripple the sails, fire grapeshot and board and capture the ship.
@thetrainman1000 What exactly does double shot do? I can imagine that it's firing two cannonballs out of a barrel at once, but does that affect velocity/accuracy/recoil detrimentally?
@jodimest Double shot is when they load two cannonballs at the same time. The range of the guns are reduced to basicly grapeshot distance, but the encreased mass of both the cannonballs makes it way more destructive. I don't know about the recoil, but its probbably increased due to Newton's Second Law. I responed to this video before I got Napoleon: Total War, and the game dosen't have double shot in it.
I was so horribly disappointed with the sea battles in Empire, though they were improved ever so slightly (barely) in napoleon. They're incredibly slow (though that's to be expected i suppose), and they're incredibly difficult to manage most of the time because none of the ships can think for themselves, or engage a specific target via click as in land battles, but just end up sort of awkwardly orbiting their opponents ineffectually.
Sadly a week later the Spanish armada attacked the British. And Nelson died in battle, but they won the battle and destroyed the spanish fleet aswell.
Oh the noes! I really hope that the revenge was greater then the loss. Even though I understand that the Great Admiral Nelson will be missed.. *Sniff*
Now, how do you enjoy Napoleon Total War? I've been pondering back and forth about buying it, but yeah.. Decisions decisions.. I don't know! So I was wondering if you could give me a little 'preview' of it? I bet many more then, I, would like that. :)
@Tylzen Already Subscribed Tylzen, I haven't been replying but really. I've watched everything. Even though that jprdoctor and VenomFangX wasn't any of my business, but GEERUP is just awesome xD

10:12 why the ship is firing up? is the antiaircraft battery or what?
freedomphamtom 1 year ago
@freedomphamtom No, it is chain-shots, they are designed to take out sails, so they are aimed up to try and take out masts and sail. :-P
No "Flying Dutchman" in this game. :-P
