  • matthews and olberman always look like their always going to cry.

  • society segregates itself anyway, go to any big city or town and you will have the black section, the chinatowns, the koreatowns, little italy, thai town... sure you can travel freely and eat at any of these places if you want but some parts of town are hostile to your race, whatever it is and that is just a fact of life

  • @bonzelite It's more a fact of our conditioning than a fact of life. Look at the media and really pay attention and it's easy to see how we are all played against each other to create this polarization, this division among man. Divide and conquer is the name of the game and the mass media propaganda is the evil tool of the elite.

  • i think rand paul has been incredibly articulate about the whole spin-off of his views by the media

you may not like some things other people do. shut the fuck up and get over it. this is America! SUPPOSED to be the LAND OF THE FREE

  • If you allow business owners to discriminate on the basis of race you force an opportunity cost on them for doing so. I too probably would not vote against a bill banning businesses from discriminating against customers, though. It could conceivably lead to the creation of exclusive racist club-type businesses but then again this already exists in the form of membership only clubs where all the existing clientele are racists.

  • @WSWarthog you are 100% correct. Totally agree. All this talk is useless. I'm live and let live but de facto segregation is impiled and done regularly in the form of clubs and associations anyway. But in our politically-correct society we are supposed to turn a blind eye to that and bullshit ourselves into pseudo-intellectual political discussions such as this topic has created on national tv. Look no further for totally spun bullshit than tv talk show theatre such as Chris Matthews.

  • "Compromise is the art of sacrificing the non-essential to preserve the essential." (John Stuart Mill, Autobiography.)

  • Old tingly legs unknowingly tells us the inherent flaw in liberalism in the first 20 seconds: "Who's really going to solve the country's problems?". Old dumbass doesn't know this basic truth, despite the decades of evidence - the government doesn't solve problems, they create them.

  • @RicPhlare Yeah, the godlike infallible private sector does. Bullshit

  • @viletree - They do better than the god-like vote whores.

  • @RicPhlare Touche.

  • @RicPhlare Please do not refer to the Progressive as Liberals. You and I are Liberals. Liberalism always has been and always will be the desire for a limited government that allows for free markets and free minds. The term has been hijacked but in America both the Democrats and the Republicans are two faces of the same coin. We live in a one party system that wants to pull is into 1984

  • @metzger90 - I suppose we could say 'modern liberal'. I understand the terminology and we are 'classic liberals' aka modern conservatives/libertarians. However, I don't like the term 'progressive' that much - it implies that these people promote 'progress', when in fact it is the opposite. Could we agree and just call them leftist idiots?

  • Americans like "actors" not real people like Rand Paul! So it doesn't amaze me that polatics have become a show in america instead of about real issues & solutions!!

Vote for the REAL! VOTE FOR RON PAUL 2012 Please if not for yourself then do it for our children! Wake up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @deegan45 controversyking is NOT a true conservative. A true conservative believes in individual freedoms and liberties.

  • Rand Paul is a libertarian. He is not against any civil rights. Unlike the democrats, he doesn't just SAY he is for civil rights.

  • @deegan45 You need to re-read the constitution. The constitution talks about Native Americans in this way...not black people. The only reason why this was an issue was because politicians tried count Indians as part of the people they where representing trying to stack the deck. It is the same reason why Democrats try to buy minority votes today. It was sad then...and its sad now. Read up on your history. You might find some issues with the Democratic party.

  • @deegan45 lol the rules have to play by the rules too. and if it did get repealed its not like there are any racists left anyway

  • @pplus0440 Have you ever been to a Fox News Tea Party rally?!? Racism is alive and a well.

  • @Saebeck32 lol and this conversation is over. Keep making stuff up champ

  • Comment removed

  • @deegan45 You still aren't looking at this the way you should be. 3/5 was removed because it was clearly unconsitutional. The government is not allowed to discriminate. Before the civil rights act you discriminated against blacks but after it descriminated against racists. The government shouldnt have (and shouldnt have had to) interfered with social interactions of people. Such a law is as unconstitutional as the 3/5 law. Also it shouldn't have taken a law for people to be civil anyway right?

  • @deegan45 Yeah deegan i'm saying both of those ideas the legal pot and legal discrimination (in private business) are supposed to be allowed under the constitution. personally i don't drink or smoke and don't discriminate and would'nt vote to legalize pot nor repeal the CRA but that doesn't mean it's supposed to happen the way the US government is supposed to be operating.

  • @deegan45 you are an idiot...like all liberals.... but seriously calling rand paul a racist bc he wants everyone to have freedom to do as they please actaully goes against the liberal idea that we should be able to smoke pot even if its bad.

  • would be nice if rand paul ran for president

  • I think that principles and the philosophical discussions should be part of the political dialogue. I believe that our democracy requires no less than the earnest confrontations of political and philosophical values and visions, and that any foreclosure of same, as history clearly shows, is good for the demogogue and autocrat.

  • Mr. Matthews got the date wrong. It wasn't 1968.

  • FUCK YOU (FROM ALL THE US ARMED FORCES MEMBERS) Chris Matthews, you FUCKING UNAMERICAN pice of shit! GTFO of our country! DICK!

  • Why should Mathew should be allowed to finish when Mathews would not let his guess finish what they have to say! This is just another way how leftists tries to quiet the truth.

  • Chris Matthews, the Civil Rights Act that Dr. Paul has referred to was in 1964, not '68. Get your facts right, you windbag.

  • matthews says rand is doing the hard thing sticking to principles instead of pandering. thats an endorsement, right? rand paul is gonna win and then he gonna talk some shit in the senate. oh noes

  • Chris Matthews = The little bitch of politics.

  • In his long winded monologue - Matthews basically makes the case to elect Rand Paul. He said it himself, Paul isn't a pandering fluff monger like the rest of them. He has a philosophical belief in what the role of Government is - and applies that LOGIC to all issues. Very simple. Go Paul and those like him!

  • Yes, thank you Chris Mathews. We know where YOU stand and what you are all about. Didn't you say that one of your heroes was Sol Alinsky?

  • I'm surprised that Rand Paul actually got a fair shake from Chris.

  • Focus on this non-issue. Please, we have nothing else at our disposal.

  • Where did they find this guy!?

  • I did my own survey and i cannot find anyone anywhere that watches msnbc!!!?

  • Holy S...how long until they fire Chris Matthews for speaking the truth? Wow, a truthful piece in the MSM what is this world coming to????

  • The only reason people keep on bringing this up is because they know people are stupid enough to interpret, "The KKK has a right to exist" with, "I hate blacks".

  • "Principle" and "Absolutism" is...wrong? WTF? Maintain no convictions, sell yourself like a political "whore" ? That's what serving your country is about?

I don't think so. Rand, you are the man!

  • What's this idiot talking about? So if I wanted to sell something on craigslist that was vietnam memorabilia, and only wanted to sell it to an ex-nam soldier... I could be sued, or forced by the gov. to sell it to anyone?

It's total BS. People can sell their wares to whomever they want. The idea of forcing people not to be racist is so childlike. There's murderers on the streets and I am supposed to care what a restaurant owner does with his business? who gives a fuck?

  • @freezazoid here, here! I'm with u, brotha...

  • @freezazoid nigger

  • @puhdussyrampage2010 : what? I don't really understand what you're trying to communicate. using more words would help. There's a lot of words in the english language. Don't be afraid to express yourself bro... I get that the more you say, the more specific you are and that's probably scary to you... being specific and all. I say go for it bro... try and express yourself sometime. I have no idea what you're trying to say with your last comment.

  • MSNBC tells the truth unlike Fux news

  • @padude64 R u serious?

  • Here i sthe principle: Federal regulations is limited to tax-financed (public domains) institutions. On the other hand, privately-owned establishments has the inherents rights to decide what is best fit on their own business. Rand Paul has this principle..

  • @cleocondor yup, not many people get it...kudos duder!

  • Rule #1

If Chris Matthews is against Rand Paul then Dr. Paul is anti-establishment

  • Yeah, the dems are really gonna get a licking this november and they know it. That's why all this bs about some moot irrelevant issue.

  • @MrBillpaxton Thats what you think you arrogant idiot no good right wing pig!

  • Its digusting how mainstream media has become so absurb with their smear attacks. Civil rights was a debate in the 60's not 2010.

  • LOL, It appears liberals and conservatives have attached themselves to this issue being that its the only blemish they can find on the Libertarian philosophy. In reality we don't seek to change the civil rights act, its settled law, God how i love being a part of a political party that bases it philosophy on pure logic rather than fear and emotional outcry like the liberals and conservatives. A good libertarian voice to follow on youtube is Howtheworldworks

  • Is Chris Mathews moving left?

  • God, libertarians make me furious...

  • @nafaidni Yeah, individual rights are totally trumped by whatever the government considers ideological at any perticular time. Douchebag.

  • I just want to say that it is outrageous that this very reasonable question - how active a role government should take in reducing private racism - is being treated as untouchable and undiscussible by the mainstream news outlets.

  • I'm not a homophobe, but is every one on MSNBC GAY?

  • It's truely sad this is an american television show pushing unamerican values.

  • @mormacfey

Yes I know & is called "N.C.S.A." New Confederacy States of America.

  • @mormacfey equality is unamerican now huh

  • WOW -- Mr. "oh I have a tingle go down my legs when I think of Obama." Paraphrasing but he said some ridiculous comment like that. He's always been a huge Obama supporter -- of course and I love hearing him wake up for a change.

  • Rand Paul's win was by the people and for the people.

    Eat your heart out!!

    You sold out filth.

    You'll rot in hell !!

  • The electorate supports Rand, Chris you and Government owned NBC are dopes.

  • @ekidon I am a 100% libertarian and normally HATE Chris Matthews. However I thought Matthews treated Rand very fairly in this editorial.

  • I support Rand Paul

  • did matthews burp in the middle of this speech lol

  • hm.. a nice piece of humanity from slime ball chris matthews.. guess he's a little human

  • We want the Federal Government to stay out of our lives. You have peoperty rights and the freedom to run a business as you wish. This is a Republic not a democracy; if I disagree with 99% of my fellow citizens my rights are important too. If I want to open a tavern that allows smoking; if you don;t like smoke...then don't come in! This is not nazi Germany or China...yet! Lets just obey the Constitution and stop empire building. No to socialism, and fascism.

  • the problem is there is no more 'private property' and is why you pay taxes on any land. The govt literally owns all property now and you 'rent it'. This is merely a public property vs private property issue and Rand Paul supports private property which.... is admirable however.... the govt owns everything now. There are no more lodial titles and private property. at all...

  • Wow, Chrissy Spittle Matthews defends Rand Paul's principled stand!

  • @delquattro

    HA, spittle.

I disagree with Comrade Matthews on many an issue, but at least he has a brain in his head and doesn't read off a fucking teleprompter every night on his show like Keith Overbite and Rachel Madcow.

  • oh my god:OOO

  • Comment removed

  • GO RAND!!!

  • Well done Chris. I'm surprised and thankful that you understand that this is a private property issue as well as having serious bearing on the First Amendment.

  • RAND IS RIGHT ON THIS !!!

  • Thanks, Chris.

  • Very good, I like both Ron and Rand and I dont have a racist bone in my body

  • correction...1964 Chris....C- Student with a cacaphonous voice

  • Bravo Chris. As you illustrate with this piece, DEFENDING something/someone is not ENDORSING something/someone.

  • Rand Paul raises very good questions, and it is funny the LEFT has to go back to 1965 to find anything remotely controversial. LOL. Remember it was BIG GOVERNMENT that promoted and defended racism (jim Crow). Rand Paul opposes big government and believes in INDIVIDUAL liberty. The great thing about Rand Paul is the ultra left and the ultra neo right do not like him and that has got to be a good thing.

  • nice reading from a teleprompter, chris.

  • @RonPaulRepublic Who doesn't read from a teleprompter you douche?!

  • What's not addressed in these discussions is that those who are ejected from a business and happen to be of a certain race may not have been ejected for that reason, but they may try to claim their race was the reason in order to take advantage of discrimination laws.

Maybe they're just a jerk and they deserve being ejected.

  • @continuityofliberty Additionally - white people are routinely presumed guilty of racism no matter what the circumstance, which is also a form of racism, but when accused they have little recourse but to let it slide.

Objecting to such attacks prompts further accusations and provides superficial confirmation to the accuser because the accused is taking a stand "against" them.

    Very convenient...

  • @continuityofliberty " white people are routinely presumed guilty of racism no matter what the circumstance" White history is absolutely flooded with examples of white racism against non-whites. I got 4 words for you, buddy: BENEFITS OF THE MAJORITY. Don't like it? Become a minority. Within 20 years, actually, you all will be one and then we'll see what you have to say then: "those blacks/asians/mexicans discriminate against us white people". I can't wait for it to happen.

  • @kaizersolze

I'm no more responsible for what "whites" have done throughout history than individuals of other races are for abuses I've experienced at the hands of those in the same race.

If you cannot see me as an individual no matter what race I may be, than it's you who are the racist and you've proven my point.

Go back to your box and whimper about the burdens you place on yourself and dwell on the superficial psychological conveniences you've built up to satisfy your own weakness.

  • @continuityofliberty and sacrafice and not because of a racist culture in the society which you live your kidding yourself. george bush is a classic example. his ability to obtain the office of president was not based individual hardwork but the wealtth accumulated by his family 50 years before civil rights. he wasnt responsible for gaining the wealth just benefitting from it

  • @265jimbo

    Why bring up George Bush?

Are you under the impression that I support him in some way?

Your comments indicate that you're seeing an issue of class as an issue of race - you might want to consider that financially poor people come in all races.

  • Comment removed

  • @continuityofliberty, I'm from Indianapolis and you have no idea how many times I've seen this happen. so many business have actually had to close their doors because of the catch 22 created by this issue. If they eject people 'who happen to be a minority' for bad behavior, they go bankrupt fighting discrimination lawsuits etc, and if they don't eject them, they lose their well-behaved/well-paying customers who don't want to deal with the obnoxious ones.

  • @elfspriit I believe it.

I worked in a cafe for 6 years dealing with such experiences.

The disruptive elements were often new to the area and watching these scenarios unfold it was obvious they'd developed a habit of using such laws (and threats of suing) to excuse their own behavior - they were looking for a fight.

Our best assets were the regulars of all races who would stand up against their abuse.

  • @btc8128 You're right on one thing - Rand would make a terrible Democrat.

  • @continuityofliberty Youre right, hes a bigot.

  • Matthews - a man truly impressed with himself.

  • Matthews is a pandering bear

  • YES GO RAND PAUL - Thank you Kentucky Voters!

  • rock on rand paul fuck the idiots

  • @bobby200606

Even your Liberal media doesn't believe Rand Paul is a Racist. Your going to have to move further down your list of ways to trying to discredit people you know you can't beat.

  • @TaldrenDR If he would have been a democrat he would have placed third in the primary

  • @bobby200606 your ignorant.

  • @bobby200606 *facepalm* he's not

  • @bobby200606 you're right

  • Kudos to CM

  • Pander Bears...LoL.

  • Look - MSNBC knows their propaganda attack will backfire. That is why they are back peddling on it.

The logic goes if MSNBC is against Rand Paul, Rand Paul must be for American and it's citizens.

  • That was kind of sympathetic toward Rand Paul. All Chris said is that Paul should have gotten his 'spin' worked out better prior to becoming a national figure. Not much of a criticism.

  • Watching the faux libertarian Rand transform into a social conservative for the general is like christmas. Flip-Flop... LOL!

  • Not bad.

  • Wow. +1 for Chris Matthews.
