if i remember right, the green stuff is some kind of temporary discolouration from the mom ive seen a pup that was completely light green, but it turned normal after a week or so

@k2loverkelly Placenta Green, from the placenta. They should have known that before whelping a litter. The pups were not dried or cleared of fluids from nasal passages and their mouth properly or enough. Upsetting for a Labrador breeder watching this. :(

people use colours to recognise the puppies. Espcially something like this breed which appears to be a maltese. They are all white, they have no markings. In a litter of more than 2, it is hard to distinguish which puppy is which, which is a must to assure each puppy is getting their fair share of milk, and gaining weight properly. (this must be recorded on a daily basis) The cotton around their neck doesnt hurt them and changes as they grow.

the 'green stuff' could possibly be muconium. it's sort of a fecal matter that fetuses have. I know it happens with human babies, but it is possible it could happen with puppies too. awesome trilogy =)
