If the record label new that Ace had left the band, Kiss's recording contract would have been in jeopardy so they put Ace's face on the album cover in an attempt to cover up his departure, at least for a while...Kiss renegotiated their deal when the band was just Paul and Gene and two hired hands who just played on the albums and toured for a paycheck, with no stake in the band.

Creatures didn't reach Gold until 1994.

Kiss was riding a wave of success from the Animalize album and tour so they felt they could use the situation to give Creatures another run, they did a slight remix and put a new photo of the band (circa 1985) on the cover in an attempt to "sell a new Kiss album". But, the stunt never really translated into album sales. And no, Ace was completely out of the picture by then and didn't factor into the re-issue at all.

Regardless, Ace had nothing to do with the decision to put a 1985 era picture of the band on the album cover. It would have been cheaper to pay Ace than it cost to do that photo session for the "new" cover in 1985. As I said, it was an attempt to draw some attention to Creatures while the band was "hot".

@Hister333 Well, I'm no expert and I can only speculate as to why they hate Vinnie so much, the reason I believe they hate Vinnie is because he used Kiss as a launching pad for a solo career. He stayed in Kiss just long enough to make a future outside of Kiss possible for him. Of course, he screwed it all up and his solo band split apart, but I do believe Paul and Gene were resentful over being treated like a spring board for a solo career. None the less, they came back to him for songs in 92.

How can you say Paul out sold Ace when Ace hasn't gone on tour for Anomaly yet? Gene did intend to tour (as he had said in the beginning before the album's release). The album came out and it didn't sell, so the story changes. All of the sudden he never planned to tour. He couldn't get a tour going, & due to poor sales, no chance to tour. Paul Stanley had a (Live To Win) solo tour. Guess the only venues he could only play at.... clubs. Gene Simmons couldn't even get a tour together for his "Asshole" solo cd. In other words, Paul & Gene without the umbrella of the Kiss name couldn't fill an arena by themselves either so I guess you can say they're nothing without Kiss too if we went by your standards.
