Good for Cenk! MSNBC is still the best we've got, but my opinion of them went down a notch. There were two people who would get me to turn on MSNBC. Not every night, maybe not even once a week, but when there's nothing on or something big happened, I'm like "I wanna hear what they have to say:" Rachel and Cenk. And MSNBC just cut that in half. Olbermann was too over the top, Ed is too over the top, Lawrence is too stiff. They had two good people, now just one.

Do you honestly think that what TYT and sxephil does is the same thing? TYT does a daily 2 hour show covering politics in depth. Sxephil does 3 min videos where he tells some jokes and show pictures of half naked women.
You know, when Cenk went to MSNBC, I was quite happy about it because I knew he would bring up progressive points and challenge all those lame talking point so that mainstream audiences would be more informed. But I was also afraid that it would gradually weaken TYT since he might have to give more and more attention to broadcast television; I was afraid that the awesome show I had started to watch would become weak sauce. So for me, this feels more like Cenk "returning home". Welcome back!

maddow is incredibly smart - and has incredible potential to influence many people in many different arenas. she brings an outsider's voice to the inside and i hope she can stay there. cenk brings passion and common sense as well as a down-to-earth sensible buddy quality which also has incredible potential - moreso from the outside than the inside. if he took the money and stayed, i can see him possibly losing his best qualities - his passion for understanding the machiavellian ways of politics.
You can't possibly tell me that the ratings have gone up or even stayed the same since Rev. Al has taken over. No disrespect to the Rev. He's a great progressive voice but he doesn't have the appeal that Cenk does. Cenk was easy to watch. The Rev is not. I think Stephanie Miller has said it best. The show now looks like Garrett Morris' News for the Hard of Hearing from SNL. Maybe they can find a place for him on Current.

Cenk could've played the game like Maddow. He could've played the rules enough to gain a respected position within MSNBC, and once he was established he could've pushed his independent agenda more.
But that could always backfire. His not being on his on TYT show as much was probably undermining it's success or at least holding it back in some ways. He can now fully dedicate himself to his own show.
I think this was a good lesson for Cenk. He now knows how the MSM works from the inside.
