And gradually, they go from calling me names to giving creedence that this God exists.

Hi Fruit, Let's start with John 15:18... I honestly don't see where it says that the world will hate you because of the Spirit of God within. you may want to read verse 19 and tell me what you think it says. As for Matt 10:19-y20, it seems to me that the context of this verse is when Jesus' disciples stand before men who have the authority to kill them - See Acts 21:26 - 22:21... How do you know it's Jesus that speaks through you? Is there a way to test what you're hearing?

So, do you believe that Jesus doesn't speak to people anymore? Do you think when pastors write their sermons, they haven't heard from God? No, they don't have any audio tapes of His voice for confirmation, of course. That's why it's a matter of faith.

John 15:18 says--"If the world hates you, it is because it first hated Me." When we are saved, His Spirit lives inside of us. The Presence of His Spirit makes people who hate Him uncomfortable & they usually lash out.

Gods voice is through His word, I'm am leary about people who say they hear His voice, that being said I also believe that YHWH speakes audibly to humans but it's rare. We have all we need in the written word with the Holy Spirit as our teacher.

When I got your comment as a response, I couldn't find my last post. But based on what your wrote, I agree the written word with the Holy Spirit is all we need. I also agree it's smart to be leary of people who say they "hear from God." Jim Jones & David Koresh made that claim. I do believe He has messengers & prophets, because this is consistant with scripture. But knowing the word is critical to discern if a messenger or prophet is legit. Hebrews says He doesn't change. So again, I agree.

No matter what a person claims to be, absolutly everything that comes out of his or her mouth MUST be verified by scripture if it does not line up or agree with scripture throw it in the trash.

Also I believe there are no more prophets as in the days of old, the twelve were specificly ordained for a special purpose and that was to establish the new covenant church.

We can clerily see the lies of these faith healers, much of what they speak simply does not happen, they are liars.

You can hang on to tradition if you like... all I know is that Paul Washer IS a modern day prophet and apostle... He's humble enoough never to claim these titles, yet these gifts ARE THERE and so is the AUTHORITY.
