For Inventor 2012, the last few lines of the setup.log will list what failed. The fastest method to locate the log file if a link to it is not shown in the installation dialog, is to go to Start/Run (or Windows Logo key+R) and enter %temp%. Sort as needed to locate and open Inventor 2012 Setup.log. If there are some Windows components that require updating before the installer can complete, they will be mentioned in the last few lines.
i did almost everyting you did for autodesk inventor and when i click the installation button everything fails to install, and I have above minnimum requirements for inventor. I wonder what's wrong.

Chivisa1 - It sounds like you are opening DWG files from the Windows Explorer windows and that is not recommended, the error is from having multiple versions of AutoCAD loaded and so the DWG is the newer version and cannot be opened by the older version. Our tech team recommends you open the AutoCAD program and then open the file or drag the DWG into the drawing window of AutoCAD from the Windows Explorer window.
I installed AutoCAD 2012 and the installation went perfectly the thing is that when I run the program a window pops and says that the parallel configuration of autocad.exe is wrong so AutoCAD won't run. What can I do?
When you download the program and double click to install this file is a .rar file which is similar to a Zip file. So when you run the file it extracts the installer to the Autodesk folder on C drive and installs from there. If you are done installing AutoCAD then this folder can be deleted. You will notice that all files in this folder are the same as what you might find on a DVD or USB install media.
And further when I opened AutoCAD_2012_English_Win_64bit, then I found few files and one is " Setup " . I don't know what to to with that. Should I need to run the set up or can I delete the whole folder named Autodesk. Please try to tell something about this. Many thanks in Advance ...
Hi, I recently installed AutoCAD_2012_English_Win_64bit , everything seems to be fine, but there is a folder named Autodesk on C drive of size 2.97 GB. When I opened that folder then I got another folder named AutoCAD_2012_English_Win_64bit.
64 bit allows for much higher computing power to be used and is as such more stable than the 32 bit version. When you install AutoCAD it will automatically choose this based on your system. If you have 64 it will install 64. If you have 32 it will install 32. The only time you have to worry about which one to pick is when creating deployments.
whats the difference between the 32 bit and 64 bit version...Which version causes less stress on the computer...I have 64 bit computer but dunno which version of cad to install will 32 bit cause less stress? because I don't want my computer to be crashing all the time
