  • This song is genius. I honestly thought I was the only one to have ever played NeoGeo when I was a kid. Playing King of Fighters and SNK vs. Capcom on that bad machine was the shit.

  • Only Del would rap about Calico vision and Bushido Blade all in one song, he's the shit.

  • Del is a fucking bro

  • Dreamcast/Saturn/Genesis FTW!

  • I do appreciate Darkstalkers sample beat.

  • Zelda refs all day <3

  • mahvel babee!

  • Fuck yeah.

  • Who in the world would dislike this video?

    Bobby Kotick maybe?

  • This songs reminds me of all my video game experiences. From playing Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World at my cousins house when I was 4 or when I used to go to the Playstation store in SF Metreon.

Or when I'd spend hours playing demos at Electronic Boutique (used to be EBgames which has now been bought by Gamestop).

    Good times.

  • God Damn it Del. Why are you so likeable. I mean, you like some anime (eh) and love video games(fuck year) and you don't talk about stupid shit.

    Beat is the sickest here...

  • It would be so awesome if this song was in marvel vs capcom 3. I would actually cry.

  • @nkosi30

Capcom has already fucked up MvC3 but it'd be awesome if they put this song in it.

  • @Ginga What did they fuck it up with? They game looks like it's gonna be good to me.

  • @nkosi30

Have you taken a look at the roster? Not only are there characters that deserve to brought back that won't be but have you losers that are being added to the series.

  • @Ginga yea i have looked at who they have in so far. The only people i want in are cable, punisher (sadly he's not in), jin,and that's about it. I like the new fighters they put in actually.

  • @nkosi30

I'm not a fan of the new additions. With Cable out, Punisher would have been a fine addition though.

  • He who namedrops Megaman Legends in a rap which samples Darkstalkers has my undying allegiance

    *bows down and worships*

  • Hahaha.. Niiiiice.

  • Hah, that line about Bernie Stolar was awesome. I remember when i was a kid i couldnt play xmen vs. street fighter because i couldnt find a store that sold the Saturn ram cartridges.

  • Nightmare Creatures, lol. That game was weak as shit.

  • Did they just hate on Bernie Stolar? That's fucking awesome.

  • del is the man for life he knows about gamer culture

  • del is the fucking man

  • I play games by Capcom, wit a power glove strapped on, on any platform, I don't spend my dough on Phat Farm

  • Xenogears.. that's the type of game that relieves my fears, get it from overseas to here

  • LOL! Disruptor xDD!!! Insomniac Game's first game :D!

  • This is like THE 90's video game nostalgia song.

  • haha tenchu and neo geo! these guys knew what they were talking about. Not alot of people even remember neo geo.

  • @Ev1LChr1s

you wouldn't understand kid, this is a song for hip-hop fans and gamers. if you are stuck on eminem then you will not win this arguement.

  • Darkstalkers, I KNEW I heard this sample from a game I played before looooooooooong time ago, and this was it.

  • you know these guys are video game fans once they mention e3 way before it became real popular.

  • the album both sides of the brain came out in 2000 and this song was probably written around 1998 or 99 but thats a few years before the ps2 best gaming years of all time in my opinion thats the time of the classics.

  • 6 years before i heard

  • oh god he namedropped mega man legends

  • Morrigan victory sample!!!

  • Megaman Legends? Del and KU wins then.

  • Oh my god this dude just said XENOGEARS!!!!

  • where's the song from?

  • the song is off of an old Del the Funkee (old spelling) Homosapien album - Both Sides of the brain - check it - one of his best albums

  • bothsides of the brains album

  • Memories...Del's my first encounter with underground rap, Dreamcast was alive and kickin' junior high school year and PS2 was still not out.

  • Comment removed

  • i think the beat is sampled from donkey kong

  • its from morrigan's stage also the end of darkstalkers two credits

  • yeah it's the little song snippet that plays when you win a fight with morrigan.

    genius that they looped it.

  • i know, the ongs so good for a beat but i never would have thought it was if i didnt hear this song.

  • lol, the first thing i though was sonic. reminds me of any of the levels involving water

  • Both Sides of the Brain still one of my favorite albums EVER! Deltron 3030 is in there too. This song is from 2001 I believe. Reminds me of my first year of college... Another song from this album was on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. I bought that album because of that game... So glad I did.

  • Dope song for sure!

Also, he's right about the ram cartridge. If they had released that in the US it would have probably made a profit just on people wanting to play xmen vs street fighter.

  • one of the only mc's to mention Macross let alone name a song after it

    so sick

  • Oh my God Del please, please make a modern version of this.

    That would be so amazing.

  • he does...kinda. it's called "king of fighters".

  • Yeah, listened to that.

    Not even close man, sorry.

  • The beat sounds like Mega Man Legends.

  • close. it is a capcom sample. this is the sample:

    watch?v=PvHC6Mlw9TM

  • ARMOURS LOW.... CHECK DA ARSENAL...... woop.

  • "IM ON THE NEXT LEVEL, I GOTTA DOUBLE BARRELL SHOTGUN IN THE DOOM WORLD WAITIN FOR THE NEXT DEVIL'........freaking epic and classic and everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • agreed.

  • Armor's low, check the arsenal!

  • del is a video game fan, my man.

  • Awesome song for us gamers. The beat is from Dark Stalkers for those that don't know. It's Morrigan's theme but altered a bit. It's slowed down here.

  • amazing beat here, this guys nuts

  • It isn't the sample from Morrigan's stage but her 'win' screen - the song that's played if you win with her or if you get beat by her.

  • i was trying to found

    protoculture - psytrance project

    btw nice music =)

  • Bullshit

  • says dude whos getting all mad about comments on youtube, then does exactly what he's knockin on. fucking depressing. get your life together lol.

  • haha yeah right..that always makes me laugh!

  • yeah man. hip hops glory days ended i 1999. now you hafe to go to the underground shit

  • i miss 90's rap so much = / its depressing when i compare beautiful pieces like this to our current "YO YO DIRTY SOUTH MOTHERF@#$@ BITCHES" trash that plays

  • Neogeo games did not count as arcade perfect because the cart system version was the arcade board. not pretty much not almost. it WAS the arcade board in a console shell. the dreamcast was the first system to get arcade perfect games.

  • segagames...

  • lol, 'arcade perfect'. See, before Dreamcast, a home console with arcade perfect graphics was unheard of. This takes me back too. And makes me feel very, very old.

  • um arcade perfect ports exsisted before the dreamcast, you know that right? atleast list a game, that was ported to the dreamcast that was arcade perfect.

  • There were? For home console? You could at least take your own advice and list one yourself for me. Only thing I could think you would list would be that one 2D fighter for NeoGeo (don't remember the name; one dude had a fart move). But who could afford NeoGeo back in the day? Virtua Fighter 3 (as Del says at the end of this song) was an arcade perfect port for Dreamcast. So was Crazy Taxi, and so Soul Calibur. To name a few. Actually, Soul Calibur was a tinge better on the Dreamcast.

  • Actually VF 3 on Dreamcast was not arcade perfect. It was one of the biggest gripes the game had. Model 3 hardware was too difficult to port in time. But Games like crazy taxi, MVC2 and powerstone were all arcade perfect ports because of the noami hardware compatiblility. Actually any game would essentially come out arcade perfect if it was based off Noami hardware, which 90% of arcade machines out at teh time were.

  • neogeo comes to mind..lol there you go. then you have xmen vs street fighter on sega saturn, you had dark stalkers on sega saturn as well, hell even the psx version was arcade perfect. street fighter alpha. i can keep going and going. arcade perfect ports didnt happen during dreamcast. the consoles before it was doing good ports then.

  • So, basically... we had a few arcade perfect Capcom 2D fighters before Dreamcast (discounting NeoGeo, which pretty much WAS an arcade machine). Then allow me to correct myself. Before Dreamcast, a home console with 3D arcade perfect graphics was unheard of. Better?

  • much before the dreamcast was the N64, if i remember, they had pleanty of 3D games

  • They were not arcade perfect.

  • rudeboy is right

alot of these games who were on arcades including alot of the capcom fighters and other arcade classics were made on NAOMI hardware which was basically a souped up Dreamcast, thus making ports extremely easy and YES arcade perfect.

  • It's not Deltron 3030. This is from Both Sides of the Brain. It's an awesome album.

  • My friend played this song for my yesterday. Dreamcast was my first console and this track really takes me back. X vs. SF, MvC 1 & 2 and mastering bosses. This is my new favorite song!

  • thats deltron 3030

  • Del's F&$%ing awesome, shame he left the Gorillaz

  • EPIC!!! 8)

  • Wow, this is really awesome. Props to these guy loving the games. Not to mention how they love to play import games.

  • on a side note, his name is spelt Del The Funkee Homosapien

  • i love this shit, and i love that Del repped for sega so much.

  • got damn that sounds good.

  • Fuck Kotaku. Del would never go to that shit site.

    Del's the best.

  • @JTNugget cognitive dissonance straight from the mind of a 12 year old too poor to afford vidya games.

    i laugh at your insecurities.

  • @Milkyiscolossal Has nothing to do with liking video games. Has everything to do with Kotaku being a shite site.

I laugh at your retarded presumptions. Assumptions are the mother of all fuck ups.

  • That was sick. Thanks for posting this on Kotaku.

  • Whaaa... awesome!

Tho I hoped he had some other references...

    Thanks for the post.

  • Awesome, I didn't know that he sampled Darkstalkers. Del is amazing.
