this is a fail and ruins a great song. i agree with all the terrible production comments. another thing that grinds my gears about this cover is slowing the tempo, it completely changes the feel (and not for the better)

@BackupsBand99 i think she is okay although i dont listen to country music. i think 90% of these complaints are more about the production of the song than taylor swift. the production of this song is truly terrible. im not sure if it was just incompetent, or a misguided attempt to "countrify" it, but it doesnt work.

Taylor is a beautiful young woman with a great deal of promise. I love Tom Petty's "American Girl"!! His song means allot to me! As for Taylors cover, I thing it lacks heart...it's missing heart! I consider this work to be typical Corporate Music factory "formula" junk. "Sorry! But back when I was young we used to call something like this "plastic". It still applies! This is "plastic" Having said that, I hope Taylor matures into what I believe she is capable of. I like Taylor, not this cover.
