You go to a doctor for an appointment. If you're going to the ER, it means you dont have insurance. If you're on the public option - you HAVE insurance.

Preventative medicine also prevents the backlog and horrible bottleneck of the ER, because the people who go to the ER for non-emergency services, no longer would, since they could afford normal preventative care.

Why would you go to the emergency room for antibiotics? You can get antibiotics at a grocery store pharmacy with your family physician's prescription that can be phoned in by the doctor. Nobody sits in the ER for three days fucktard - it's for emergencies. They'd transfer you elsewhere in the hospital if you stay more than one night. A local chain of stores in the midwest, Meijers, even gives out free antibiotics with a prescription.

A previous version required that all congressional staff had to go on the public option. They don't qualify for the current blue-ribbon government treatment that Senators get, so it was rejected on the basis that it is an *option*. If they had private care they should be able to keep that.
