i work in the pharmaceutical industry and i see everyday how privatized health and medical insurance screws over their patients. im personally not insured, because the private insurance companies want an arm or a leg, and then have the nerve to tell me what dr's to see, or what pharmacies to go to or even worse. the fucking insurance formulary, and how it manages to work against doctors all of the time, and thats saying a lot considering i think most doctors are nitwits to some degree.
We can't have a National Health Service for all americans because Useless Pointless US Health Insurance Corporations won't let it happen. They have bought their politicians and we're screwed. We have the most expensive per capita health care in the world yet are the only first world country to not have Universal Health Care. I generally liked Grayson's points, but I think he could have responded to Bachmann's last point much more directly and simply:
I agree that corruption is an issue and deserves attention. However, the issue at hand is healthcare. The string of points you just made took us a long distance away from that issue and never tied us back directly to it again. You've stagnated the current conversation by switching over to another one entirely.

Unfortunately, as long as the right wing is in control of any branch of govt, there will be no healthcare reform, no tax reform, no taxes for the ultra wealthy, continued weakening of enviornmental laws, continued destruction of the middle class. As a independent, Im not a huge fan of either party at the moment but voting for the republican party at the moment, is a sort of like eating off the floor in Calcutta...not a smart idea.

He lost in the mid terms when there was a very low voter turn out. I still get mail from him, and though he is not from my district I will contribute to his campaign if he runs again. He is the only good politician in Florida. Our Governor is a crook. Was fined 1.7 billion for medi care fraud and still got elected.

grayson is probably right most of the stuff he says, he's just taking us in the wrong direction. health care costs are so high because we expect health insurance companies or the government to pay for ALL of our health care. what would happen to the cost of homeowner's insurance if the insurance companies had to pay every time a lightbulb went out? free markets bring the cost of everything down, just look at technology or the auto industry. cars and tvs have both gone down in price.

#2 As per health insurance you're right and wrong. The lightbulb analogy is not appropriate as most people don't go to the doctors for every single little thing. For me if it isn't flu-like I don't go. Medical prices are insane I remember I went for strep throat and got a $500 bill for him to look at my throat and give me a script. @MajorDestruction and as for health insurance, you're taking high medical prices for granted. if things are expensive, there's a reason. a 3rd payer discourages competition, there's no reason for doctors to charge less for a service when health insurance will just cover it. take a look at lasik eye surgery, it's one of the only medical prodedures that have actually become less expensive over the last 10 years or so. do you think it's a coincidence it's almost never covered by health insurance?
