Well, being from 'Bama myself, you probably know how I feel about this song...one of my favorite classics.....another wonderful performance! I really enjoyed it. :)
@classican Thanks so much Pete! I played my son's electric guitar the other day and tried to make some sounds like you, but all that came out was noises. When i play the electric, nothing sounds in tune. lol, I must push too hard on the strings.
@jayrbee60 Whats so great about it is as I listen to you, I notice the kids had learned the song completely! As they sat on the floor playing they have been listening to you too! My heart smiled big time yesterday when I realized they now knew more than only the chorus now! You did that! What an awesome thing you've done! Thank you!
@reliablebow Thank you kind sir, they certainly are fun to play! Kind of makes one wonder if in 160 years everyone will be singing Britney Spears songs... LOL
@LarWolkan I have to agree - albeit I wish my editing (and playing - and singing) was a bit better. But sheesh, I would love to visit his old home - too cool! I have an old (very old) book from the early 1900's of his stuff. It is a pretty good read! Thanks for stopping by!
Hey, don't sell yourself short! Sounded good to me! We all do it for the personal fun if nothing else... BTW - The Foster home had a lot of interesting history ...some of it kind-a creepy and sad, but definately interesting. I try to hit points of musical history in my travels...I always find out things i didn't know before and helps me understand all the various forms of music...helps my playin'. Anyway I'm ramblin' here... Take care and good luck with the tunes! Lar
hey John, cool rendition!! you're a great expert for old folk tunes!! (objection overruled, lol!) ;)) I enjoyed your easy going and straight performance a lot! great you share Dan's idea! ;o)
@rpatt100 Thanks Roger, yeah I play this one on the dulcimer quite a bit.... I enjoy it, but I'm not quuite so sure about any one else around me any more.. lol
@tuskaiae Hi Louise!!! I don't know... "I Tripped off Easy Street" I think was the last one I wrote when I temporarily lost my job awhile back. Its in my playlist of originals. Thanks so much for the visit! :-D
I'm envious of your rock star life. I'm assuming that you trash these hotel rooms before your done... ?
Thoroughly enjoyed this my friend. I often wonder what Stephen Foster would make of the way we enjoy his songs today. I'm sure he would be blown away that they are still relevant in our space age world.
@derekeverett lol... it does get old being a gypsy, and lets just say my wife would not be proud of my in looking at my room right now... she would certainly give me the old tsk tsk.
And yes, I would certainly love to here the original version in the way that Stephen Foster intended it. but regardless, you should check out the version I have listed in teh information box. Anyways, thanks for your kind words!
One simply cannot go wrong with a beloved old Stephen Foster work. It is downright shameful that his songs (even after having been watered down) have been removed from the songbooks in our children's schools...for two generations now, young people are unfamiliar with the father of the modern song...simply criminal. I want to personally thank you for keeping his songs alive and fresh with your very enthusiastic showcase presented here.
@stewballmax3 I agree it is a travesty. And I would like to personally thank you for your diligent support of myself and all my fellow youtubers who also enjoy interpreting and displaying this style and many other styles of music.
@efbeckley Thank you! Its me on the dulcimer too. I just didn't feel like fiddling with the movie any more as I already had to do it twice due to accidentally deleting the wrong file! I thought this was close enough! lol... I guess my kids wore out all my patience!
