  • Do you have a job at Aardman?

    No?

    GET ONE!

  • love the penguin!! feel almost sorry for him!!

love wallace and gromit, def, favorites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Incredible i wish i was that good at animation. Check me out, i made some things.

  • What type of camera was used?

  • Wow, one of the best animations on youtube

    =O

  • Excellent!! 5 stars!

  • easily the best claymation for W+G, Nick would be pleased indeed. good work :D

also, does this mean wallace is dead, becasue he isnt in colour?

  • what clay did you use and do they have an amature

  • That was actually really good.

    5 Stars!

  • Feather's McGraw is at it again

  • Amazing, this must have taken a LOONG time!

  • Thanks. About a week I think, and then we gave it to a film student who fixed sound and music

  • @AndreasFrancis WOW your a gifted animator

  • how long did it take to do this?

  • There were two of us, and we did it in about a week I think. Then someone else did sound and music.

  • cool :)

  • WELL DONE!!!

  • nick park would be proud

  • wow that wos sooo cool!

  • That is so awesome. :O

  • that was amzing, did u really do that with clay?

Cos if so, u should really try to get a job with aardman

  • that was alot better than i would have thought

  • That was really good!

I couldn't even do that in my dreams!

  • did you use wire frames for the characters?

  • In the legs of the penguins. I only use armature where I reckon it's needed.

  • Wow! That was awsome!!!!!

    Very well done!!!

  • THank you! :D

  • very impressive!

  • Cheers :)

  • Hmm, it could've been better; but great anyway! :P I think maybe you should've made Wallace And Gromit in their original colours and given Gromit a tail, but overall; that was some of the best animation I've ever seen! 5/5!

  • Thanks! The assignment brief was to use a white ball of plasticine and we were given alot of white plasticine. As the story evolved we got some black plasticine for the penguin. Completely forgot about Gromits tail, I should have looked at some reference pictures for his body as well. :)

  • that was like Spy VS Spy .Very good!! it must have taken forever

  • Thanks, I like spy vs. spy. It took about a week I reckon. It was mainly an excersice to try out stuff like lighting, camera-placements, animating, etc.. so we moved quickly from shot to shot.

  • 'Cracking Claymotion Gromit' ;)

  • :-D

  • that was excellent, keep up the good work

  • Thanks mate, I will!

  • nick park would be proud

  • wow, thank you. :)

    Nothing would make me happier.

  • that was wow! just great!

  • Thanks! :)

  • I love this! Fantastic :)

    You did it justice :D

  • Thanks. I'm a big fan so I really appreciate that :)

  • Wey, I was hoping someone would try this! you've got guts taking on the dynamic duo - Especially gromit! Nice job

  • Thanks man. It was the first stop-mo we did at uni, and it just came to us that we should celebrate the event by using the very symbols of plasticine-animation. :)

  • how many fps?

  • the clip is 25 fps, but shot on two's, meaning every picture is used twice so in reality it's 12,5 fps.

  • fantastic job!

  • cheers Brother Blim. Your characters are very good.

  • Very good, AndreasFrancis! Well done!

  • Thank you :)

  • what program u use..

  • Stop mo pro

  • how did u make the set?

  • I only made the Plasticine things, but the walls are card-board, printed images on the wall, fabric for the curtain, chop sticks for frames and along the edge of the floor, and a thin wooden plate for the actual floor. The plant is real grass.

  • well done add this 2 the W and G website and you might win creation of the month

  • im gunna try that iv got an animation brief now but not round to making it yet thx 4 the reply man

  • Thats great i have videos like that, but not gallace and womit lol it takes like 12 frames a second to get it smooth, good job man.

  • that was good really well done claymation is my fave animation iv tried onc or twice but cant mannege to get it that smooth id like to see more of your work if you get round to it

  • Thanks! Smooth animation comes with practice. Do it a lot, and you'll get a feel for how much to move for every frame. An armature that gives you 100% control over the figure is crucial though, so your figure doesn't move more or less then what you want.

I'm working on some new stuff I hope to put up in a few weeks. Looking forward to that :)

  • Excellent excellent short! I know how hard it is to get the characters to look exactly like the ones from the movies. Believe me I've tried. Very clever angles and credits too! That was really really well done.

Can you check out some of my films? You seem like the type of person who would give good advice. We haven't really done anything serious yet, but we're working on a new film that's going to be like an hour long, and hopefully it'll be pretty good.

  • Thanks for your comment man.

Sorry, I'm not into live action, so I dont have any general advise to offer, but if you have any specific questions I'll give it my best shot.

  • Oh, sorry, I wasn't specific at all. I have that stop motion shoe video on there, and me and my friend are wanting to get into stop motion. So I'm just wondering, like, what is your frame rate? And what kind of camera you use, because in that shoe video of mine, you saw how the lights were kind of flickery. So I'm wondering if that's the camera, or just lighting.

  • Aaa, cool. I use 25fps, shooting two frames at once, but in America the TV frame-rate is 30fps so I'm not sure what the animators do. More frames means more work, and having 12 individual frames/sec works like a charm. Prob best use 24fps (12 moves per second), as it is the frame-rate of film, and converts easily to 30fps. I use a still camera for my never projects, though G&W was shot with a DVD cam.

  • For your lighting, if your camera settings is on manual, it shouldn't change, but the sunlight will constantly change and cause flicker, so you'll need to film in a dark room with the only light sources being your own lights if you want to minimize light pollution. Hope that helps.

  • Okay, sweet. I can't really remember if my window was open or not while I was shooting that video, but that was probably what was causing the problem. Alright, well thanks a million for the advice man, it'll help a lot. Your claymation totally melts my face off!

  • This is great!

  • Thanks :)

  • Sorry it took me so long to reply to this one, but the truth is I cant help you. I have learnt a bit about lenses during my last short film, but since we only have ONE at uni, I havnt been able to see the possibilities yet, only the limits of that lense. My aim is always that is should look nice in screen, and I move stuff around, and would try different lenses (if I had any), until I get the look I want.

  • The way you develop that assignment brief into such a COMPLETE work - with music and sfx that totally complement the skillfully edited and thoroughly enjoyable animation, plus witty titles / credits - is worthy of the highest praise. Inspirational. Start writing an Oscar acceptance speech; you'll soon be needing it!

  • Wow, thanks. With a comment like that I hope you're the one that writes the nomination! ;)

  • OMG!!!

I do clay animation and I know how hard it can be!!!!!

You legend mate!!! Give your self a round of applause.

Why were Wallace and Gromit white?

Did the white clay slowly take over the world...one person at a time?

  • Thank you! That was a very nice comment.

Why they are white? The technical answer is that all we had when we started was alot of white clay :) But aside from that, it's up to the viewer to imagine what happens next. Your suggestion is in lines with what I was picturing myself.

harsh, deserves much more, very good vid.

  • Thanks. I'm flattered you think so :)

  • This is absolutely fantastic Guys! :D I'm absolutely amazed by it!

  • Thanks Kev! :) When are you coming to visit us in oz?

  • I wish I could man. :) It'll be a long time before then ~_~

  • send me a dvd of that

  • Glad you like it

  • We played around with the props for each shot so that it would look good. E.g, in the change focus from Gromit, erm..I mean Womit ;) to Gallace, Womit and the ball were moved furter away from Gallace, and the table were moved a little bit too to get the right perspective, and palce them in different focus areas of the camera lense, versus if we had just put the camera really close to gallace and the ball, the background would still be in focus.

  • That was pretty awesome! How long did it take you to animate that?

  • Hey thanks! Took about a week from start to finish I guess, with some other stuff going on as well. The main chunk of it (the last bit) was animated over one intense day and night. We didnt waste any valuable time writing a script though, rather let the story unfold from one shot to the next :)

  • Wow, that's cool, I thought it would have taken longer actually :).

  • Nah, the penguin was very animation friendly, neiterr did he require an armature (except from in his legs, but they dont move).

  • WOW! That was very nice! Great work guys and gals! Love to see more from you! I once made the penguin from Wrong Trousers for my aunt once for mother's day, she likes pengiuns. I haven't had chance to animate it yet, but we'll see.

    Keep it up guys!

  • Nice animation, one question why are wallace and gromit naked?! It was kinda grainy, but oh well.

  • nice models

  • wow, thats a great stop animation, the charaters u made resemble wallace and gromit very well, make more vids like this =)

  • Thanks :)

  • Ouch. To be honest, i havnt gotten to use version 5 much, due to lots of problems with the stop-mo room at uni this semester. Havnt crashed on me so far, but I have only used it for short figure tests. Last year with v4 it kept crashing alot, but tech-support said that v5 is known to be alot more stable and that lots of animators tear their hair out over v4.

  • Nice, thanks. I'll definiately give that program a try. The video isn't pixilated when uncompressed though. DO you use this program always to get a smooth video with small filesize?

  • :D The wrong trousers is my all time favorite film. Have watched it over and over and never get tired off it, so I guess I 'know' the characters pretty well, how they would react etc. The pixilation is because of the compression (not that DV cam gives good resolution, so now we have a digital still camera for coming assignments). Got the file size down to 20mb but I am wondering if I should have chosen the 50mb one which was a lot less grainy. Would probably take forever to download though.

  • Thanks! We had three spotlights, one which was used to create the light through the window. NOrmal DV cam, and stop-mo pro. We had version 4 which is terrible, kept shutting down. Now we have version 5 which is more stable. That's pretty much everyting that's not in the frame. Not sure what else might be of interest for you to know, but feel free to ask :)

  • That was just so unexpected! Lmao!

  • That's awesome! Very cool indeed.

  • Thank you :)

  • Wow! and erm...wow! Very, very, very, very, very cool.

  • :D Kiss

  • dat woz ded good

  • danke schoen
