  • i have a garmin 1450 and it keeps going to the password screen and i dont have one, the factory wants to charge for it and i dont have the money for it, does anybody know it?

  • if you're going to do a video in english, then at least learn to speak it better and make it not so choppy

  • Just wondering, what is the microphone on the front of the 1450LMT used for? I find nothing about its usage in the sparse manual that came with it. In fact, it has no mention at all, other than in the diagram pointing out all the buttons.

  • Which is the best GPS???

  • @shazaib4 In my opinion, it's still 1450/1490. I have tried the newer nuvi, they got lots of bells and whistles, but for features you actually need, it's a step backward (e.g. the ecoRoute feature has changed, now it doesn't work out of the box)

  • @LazyHikerCOM

    Did you try the 2445LMT?

  • does the 1490 have same split screen when it comes to lane assist

  • @Veritas1925 With the "T" feature: over here is very well developed, pretty much ALL major hwys and lots of city roads as well, in/around Toronto and most of the major urban areas in the States. In this old video:

    /watch?v=00tV-KkNQT0

you see I'm running the 265T on the left purely for traffic info (maps are 2 yo but they don't interfere with the smooth operation of the traffic feature) and on the right is the 350 now replaced with the 1450LMT, 265T stays in the very same place.

  • @401RoadWarrior TRAFFIC is shown in 3 colors: GREEN, YELLOW & RED, also VERBAL alerts before approaching the yellow or red areas. And also you can read the reason for the yellow or red alert, either is construction (where it starts and ends) or accident. You see the construction sign or the STOP sign when a road is fully closed.

No idea if the TRAFFIC feature in UK or rest of EU is as good on the ground as it is in my area, Toronto, or most of major URBAN areas in the States.

  • @Veritas1925 "wife & two young children." LOL

MARRIED...WITH CHILDREN (watch the famous American TV sitcom if you need a good and healthy doze of real laugh on this very subject).

A Happy and Healthy 2012 for you and all your loved ones.

    Chris

PS How is the T (as in TRAFFIC) feature working out in UK and/or W EU? Very smoothly AND accurate in/around Toronto and most of the USA, mostly in/around major urban areas.

  • @Veritas1925 Bought the 1450LMT on Boxing Day (online sale started on Dec 24, 2011 8pm) for C$170 tax included, brand-new of course, shipped to me FREE on Dec 30, so far I just done the acquiring sats (on the apartment balcony) and then the registration on MyGarmin and updated the software and the latest maps, Tuesday I will put it to the test in real life, on the road. Also I've transferred all my 200+ Custom POIs from the 350 onto the 1450LMT, mostly Red Light Cameras in Toronto.

  • @Veritas1925 YES, software is totally different than the MAP updates, those 4 updates/year refer to MAP updates only, when software is UNLIMITED.

You have to D/L and then INSTALL the Garmin WebUpdater 2.4.2 on your Desktop and for ANY software updates you go straight to your desktop and follow the instructions, no need to connect to MyGarmin for software updates.

    An old video:

    /watch?v=00tV-KkNQT0

265T on the left and 350 on the right.

    Now I'm using a 1450 LMT.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR.

  • @401RoadWarrior 1490 LMT is in fact 1450 LMT + Bluetooth as 1450 LMT does not have the Bluetooth feature, otherwise they are both IDENTICAL.

  • @Veritas1925 "Because we're limited to 4 updates a years"

    1) These are MAP updates, for software there are no limits whatsoever, you're using Webupdater for any firmware update.

    2) Garmin/NAVTEQ releases no more than 4 updates per year so even that you would like to get more than 4 per year there are no more.

Been using Garmin 350, 265T and now 1450 LMT.

  • Us it worth buying a garmin 50lm or tomtom 1405tm

  • @techfan42

50LM is newer but it actually has less feature, e.g. it lacks traffic (depends on where you live, it may not be important). It's a budget model so it has no routes... so not useful for road-trip... The unit looks a little slicker and the interface looks a bit better, but really it's a step backward in usefulness (in my opinion).

  • just go under setting and click map view then under map detail click highest then it will show the name or number of every single strreet

  • Good review. I don't have neither the 1450/1490 LMT but I do have the 1390 LMT which is the same as the 1490 LMT but has a 4.3 inch screen, longer battery life and no "save 10 route". I am really enjoying this GPS and I am so glad that I opted for the bluetooth... Not only can you find locations but it lists their phone numbers and I could easily call the place by simply pushing a button.

  • Hey..... be a man!!

  • THIS GUY MAS MARBLES IN HIS MOUTH.....OTHER THAN THAT AND SAYING AAAAHHHH AND UUUUUMMM ALL THE TIME IS A GOOD REVIEW.

  • Great review! It really helped me to narrow down my choice of GPS :)

  • muy bueno gracias!!!

  • lmfao! at 4:30

  • I would like to see 1450LMT vs 50LM. The 1450LMT has more features, but the 50LM is newer. They are roughly same price on Amazon, so I was asking myself why I would opt for a newer 50LM if there are fewer features.

  • MisticDxx - you're a fecking idiot..

  • I bought a 1450 that was refurbished, I do not have a pin, I'd hate to have to mail it to Garmin and have to wait to get it back, any suggestions, of course I have a receipt, I bought it at Frys electronics in Fountain Valley, CA but I live in Albuquerque, NM

  • @TOPLVAGENT You may be able to log in to "Maintiance mode" to reset the PIN, search google for "Reset Garmin PIN". It may not work for newer Garmin models so you may need to send it to Garmin.

  • @LazyHikerCOM I am trying to decide because i want to buy a GPS this week what

should i get the Garmin nüvi 1450LMT 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator OR the

Garmin nüvi 2555LMT 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator

  • @uguess94 If money is not an issue, go for the 2555LMT. The major difference is Guidance 2.0 (i.e. faster route calculation and many other perks) and exit service. As for me I bought a 2460 to replace 1450. It has myTrends but lacks Guidance 2.0 and is $50 cheaper than 2555, but most importantly 2460 has a customizable home screen.

  • very well done video! One of the best I've seen! Thanks for editing so you did not waste our collective time.

  • Steps for downloading chinese language:

    1. DL and Install Garmin Webupdater ( go to google website and type Garmin Webupdater)

    2. Connect GPS to Computer

    3. Follow on-Screen Instruction

    4. Choose what language you want and put check mark ,for ex:

    Voice, Contonese

    Voice, Mardarin (China)

    Voice, Mardarin (Taiwan)

if you want 3 of the them then do the check mark. hope this is help!

  • @sweetorsourivy do you know if its free? my dad had an older version of garmin and it had cantonese already installed in it.. but a 黑鬼 stole it from him last week..=[

  • My Garmin

Shows me the speed limit of the road I'm traveling on.

  • i bought a 1490lmt, how did you input the chinese voice into the gps?

  • @xhllzx According to another post, you would need to goto garmin site and download the update, you will see some selection for international languages.

  • @LazyHikerCOM i did do the update but i didn't see the selection for international languages :S

  • Hi, I just bought the 1490T garmin, but my GPS doesn't have the voice of chinese like yours. How did you get your GPS to speak chinese?

  • @MisticDxx Not all Garmin has the Chinese option, depends on where you bought it. Mine is bought in Canada

  • @LazyHikerCOM oo thank you for the response. i found out how to get chinese... read some forums and they basically said we needed to install webupdater from garmin and you can install all the languages that you want to.. chinese included.

    thank you

  • Nice review. Thanks!

  • loool very funny voice i love it fowty fifty

  • just bought this, is there speech to text?

  • @macnerdette Yes there is text to speech... Speech to text? You mean like SMS through bluetooth? Probably not...

  • which gps are u using for this video?

  • @mil1956 1450, but the two are almost identical except for the Bluetooth and case color.

  • im going to guess you're driving a Honda

  • @bizzel3 Is it my accent or the GPS icon? I never suspect anyone can guess what car I drive by looking on the icon of the GPS... but yea you are right.....

  • Perfect!!!

  • Thanks for this video, I am tempted to get one of these.

  • Can you charge it while you drive?

  • @Shilala18 It's meant to be charged while you drive, all automobile GPS are like that...

  • I thought the other difference was between those two was the 1450 didn't have lane assist. Am I correct or not?

  • @fusionak Actually they both have lane assist

  • Thank you for the detailed review.

  • Best accent EVER !!!
