i always said duides put you on fish but you have to find the big ones yourself and finding a few smallies all day is better than a guid leading the way you know exactly what i mean
Also, good fish handling. No net, You wet your hands first............ Im dying here, we just got 6 inches of snow. Fished up north this past weekend, its done:(
Hi nice video, great outdoors. What do you think about TFO fly rods and how do you rate them.. I am new to flyfishing but i have used their spinning rods and they are good.. can you please help me to choose a fly rod for trout . I will be fishing in small streams for trouts upto 4lbs. Thanks
it may come a little late but TFO finesse and i know i spelled that wrong but its the best fly rod i have ever owned not to good for wooly buggers or big streamers but nymphs and droppers for streams and rivers it cant be beat super sensitive and great casting my dad likes mine better than his orvis
PSSSST.... Your ignorance is showing! Actually you are wrong on this in every aspect. First very rude, which leaves you blocked now, (congratulations)! Second, a study showed that responsible handling of fish reduces the mortality rate associated with nets of catch and release fish from 8% to under 4%. So thanks for trying to spread your ignorance, but we'll go ahead and let you keep it for yourself today. I do hope; though; that somebody thinks that you know what you are talking about.
Well, I was going to have some fun with you and tease you about not having your net with you and having to use your hands (There have been a time or two that I have forgot my net). But as you can clearly see I read your comment to the above gentlemen and learned something myself. Anyway, thank you for posting this video, I liked it.
May you have beautiful skies and tight lines, God Bless!
I strongly dissagree when people let them go. after their 7th yaer of spawns tehy die, and i see like 4 foot of died salmons and stealheads, and trout. so why dont you just take the fish and enjoy it with your familes, by the way salmon spawns over 5,0000 eggs.
Out of those 5,000 eggs, there are 2 salmon that return to the river to spawn. Having said that, I love eating salmon, (smoking some right now). Trout are different, I don't like to keep them. Salmon are going to die anyway, and Alaska's hatcheries take care of the populations. I like to keep salmon, not trout.
fishing does more help then hurt you dumb ass...besides the fishermen are the ones who want to see these fish reproduce and continue on the species...if anything at the very least, fishing helps fish survive
@jhatton101 I don't know about that. I agree somewhat, but you and I both know that there is a huge amount of greedy fishermen that just want to catch as many as they can.
@santrackjuggalo Btw, you're a skinny ass little WHITE kid acting like a fucking wannabe gangster. You didn't catch shit with your tiny wang except a gay asian with AIDS.
@jhatton101 A big factor in fishing is that some fisherman take as many fish as they please, and fish numbers drop, also "catch and release" fishing can be very harmful to the fish and in some cases, leading to death or extreme pain and mutilation. In some fishing you are correct, but not all fisherman are as caring and eco-friendly as you would hope. Also literal tons of lead are left in the waters around the world from the lead fisherman are using...
Most fish are still around because people like catching them. If we did not like catching fish, who do you think would contribute funds to keep fisheries alive? You? I think not. I am a member of PETA too, (People Eating Tasty Animals) YUM!
Frolixo shut your fuckin trap you useless greenpeace douche bag.. It is amazing how big of an opinion someone who is sooooo god damned uneducated can have...
Yeah, this was shot in 2002, I need to shoot a new one with glo bugs, (same thing). Just no time. We have been using beads on that river since about 1991 or so. The technique is not bad as long as you use barbless hooks, and take care when removing them. I have seen allot of lipless fish, because people just don't care, they have the biggest barbs, and just tear them loose when extracting the hook. I think that is why beads were outlawed on this water. Truthfully, yarn can work better!
a swing and a miss beads must be attached to the hook in fly fish only waters being the russian river and the kenai around the ferry crossing. therefore beads are allowed.
fuck you kylepickens I know the fish regs front and back upside down. I'm just stating how some people believe that your bead must be two inches away from your hook or free sliding but fly fish only waters state it must be attached to the hook. BITCH
Yes I know that but there are some people on here that think on the russian river your bead must be fished 2 inches above the hook or free sliding but the russian being a fly fish on river you must have your beads attached to the hook I am not stating that on this video his beads are being fished differently but I'm just informing anyone that thinks the regs have changed from when this video was made they are wrong beads or attractors must be attached to the hook
At the time of the shooting of this video, it was LEAGAL to use beads. It is NOT leagal now to use them in this manner now. I hope there is no more confusion on this subject.
I don't really know, I have guided there for a short time, (about a month), but have never done it for a long period of time. It was fun for a short time, but all of the full time fly fishing guides were all burned out. I think that I will keep shooting video! Thanks for the post, and have fun fishing!
you no what they say russian to the russian river lets keep the upper to the trout fanatics like myself and all others that want to catch big bows when iwen in middle auguast there wasnt that many people dont try in late june
Cool, good catch! You should check out fly fishing. It is a sport that you can spend the rest of your life learning, and not know everything. The red things are sockeyes.
Beautiful river - wish I had one in the UK Midlands like that! In UK people always seem to use nets to land the fish, in US it seems less common. I am definately go to some of these US rivers one day :)
guide fishing in the gulf in port o connor, texas caught me some huge speckled trout. if you ever go find a guy named tommy ramirez we caught our limit in poor conditions in 2 hours
I TOO LOVE FLY FISHING but never fish such a huge rainbow.I have seen a lot of videos related to fly fishing on SPLASHVISION. COM, I would suggest you guys to have a look over there and know more about fly fishing, Don't forget to Reply...
Thanks for sharing. Been out to Alaska two times, and the russian river is a favorite spot. Last visit, hiked up to the falls which was fantastic. We fished the Anchor river for silvers, first time to catch those super strong fighters.
Dad and I still prefer to catch trout over salmon. Was glad to see fishing for trout on the Russian.
I grew up in Anchorage. Spent my weekends as a kid at our cabin in Cooper Landing, right off Snug Harbor Road. As soon as the video started playing I could tell it was the Russian River. Small world. If I wasnt fly fishing the Russian, I would be tracking in the back woods out of the crowds on Quartz Creek. Took a 11 lbs Dolly on a pinkie the last time I fished it. I miss Alaska.
well im of next week to try out my new Orvis rod, new zealand here, we fish head waters up in the native bush, some nice trout to be had, some nice big rtricky brown as well as alot of rainbow's , tight lines all cheers
any creek that is fly fishing only up here is pretty much that way..its on page 31 of last years regs. bead must be attached to hook to be concidered traditional fly. don't really agree with the law as i have seen way more fish injured by glo-bus and pinkies but i know fish and game is inforcing it cause i saw a guy get a ticket at the confluence of russian and kenai last fall.

STOP KILLING THE FISH!
hooks cause great damage and after their lips are ripped out they cannot kiss or find a mate to spawn baby fishes. Fishing should be banned.
