  • This is a BAD BOY! WOW

  • bramhall jams with jimmy ray vaughn

  • I Love The Reflection Of The Crowd In His Glasses.

  • oops..Gary Clark jr..oh and dont forget Mr Doyle Bramhall II

  • We know your name now mister Gary Clarck jr..You sir ROCK!!!

  • if i was in the audience i would be fucking jumping around like an idiot, what is with these people? they look so bored!

  • @SamanthaAlix I know, right. This crowd is comatose.

  • since i found the civil wars i didnt think i would fall in love with anyone else....well mr. clark u do it for me....love, love, love great jammin

  • This is mazing, one chord baby!! loving it big time!

  • whoever the 8 are need to be kicked in the dick or pussy

  • 4:13 you can see him literally THROW his whole body into it...LOVE this!! I've been playing a version of this song on the streets of Broadway in Nashville TN. Keep spreading the spirit of REAL music GCJ!!!

  • I wanna see Gary and Doyle and John Mayer do something togeter, that could be nasty. Doyle and John on guitar with Gary singing, I think it's dope.

  • @JazzLaboratory race has nothing to do with it man, its all about the vocals and the songwriting. Though personally I think his soloing is more derivative of Clapton, Jeff Beck and other late '60s early '70s blues artists. Which is NOT a bad thing at all

  • @TheJeffers1234 If he was white nobody would be making Jimi comparisons, cuz it just doesn't sound like Jimi. The vocals don't remind me of Jimi, nor the songwriting, nor the guitar playing. Don't get me wrong, I really like this guy, but I was surprised to hear so many Jimi references. And I agree with you that his guitar playing is more Clapton/60s/70s blues guitarists...But honestly, his guitar playing is...OK. Good enough for the music, and that's what counts. But enough with the "Jimi".

  • Gary Clark Jr. puts the 'black' on Black Keys

  • I lol'd at the guy up front with the clapton face on a stick XD. but this guy is sick! i saw him in guitar world this month, and i'm so glad i looked him up!

  • Sooo much style

  • There's nothing Hendrix about this guy. Come on. Are you really that blinded by the color of his skin? Black man + distorted guitar = Hendrix reincarnation? Really? Are you THAT simple?

  • @JazzLaboratory What's wrong with being a Jimi Hendrix reincarnation? Black or white, anyone should be happy with a compliment like that

  • @fliphkd4293 I never said there was anything wrong with a Jimi reincarnation, did I? No, I didn't. In fact, I think today's music is sorely missing one. And your second sentence is irrelevant.

  • @JazzLaboratory If you dont hear Hendrix in this...listen to more Hendrix.

  • @Mlow160 The Hendrix comparison is a stretch. I grew up in the 60s/70s. I've heard plenty of Jimi and a ton of guitarrists - psychedelic, blues, jam bands and otherwise. Personally, I hear more Jimi in a live SRV jam than I do in Gary Clark. With that said, I really like Gary Clark Jr.

  • Gotta love It!

  • Richie Haven?? wgas!?

  • His soul is on fire,

on display for all to see.

    He plucks the wire,

    and it makes me belive.

    True talent is back.

  • I know your name now.

  • Comment removed

  • Dude is bad...@6:10 Im hearing SRV all the way...Im hearing everything that I love about the 70's in his voice and guitar. Bringin soul back...

  • damn this band really rocks, i dig it !!!!!!! very much blues meets rock go gary go man!!! can't get enough!!!

  • next Jimi Hendrix is GCjr

  • GCJ fo life, from Mil to Chi town wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew

  • If you dont dig..... Theres something wrong with yallllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • is that the coolest bass player or what?

  • cannot wait to see this man at wakarusa

  • Ahhh, a reason to live! Be well and thrive, Gary! The riff Doyle did was just the right touch! I want to see you with The Black Keys. What a trip that would be.

  • The Jimi similarity is a given..I hear a bit of Paul Rogers (Bad Company) as well as alot of other legendary blues guitarists.

  • What I don't understand is how you can dislike this? What is there to dislike?

  • @golfer564 the 8 dislikes won't know his name by the end of the night

  • He has very prominent fang teeth!! I like that! =D

  • I like his hair and that crowd.

  • Eric Clapton + Aloe Blacc = this man

  • that's the dumbest thing I've ever read. What does this guy have in common with Kid Cudi?

  • two drummers. completely necessary

  • @codizzle3000 Well; Gary doesn't seem to to think so. Great Sound, if you ask me! Besides; isn't the drummer in the white shirt Eric Clapton? Maybe he's just sitting in?

  • this is fantastic

  • Hendrix in Alive!!

  • this dude is the real deal . this song rocks

  • Holy fucking Gawd! There is a new breeze in town and it sure is sweet!!!!!

Gary Clark Jr., I feel it!!!

  • Muito bom

  • Yeah he's definitely giving dirty looks to someone off stage for messing his set-up. Jeez guys, I thought you were real music fans!

  • No, "that guy" looks more like his guitar tech did his set up completely wrong and it threw him off when he started playing.

  • Comment removed

  • Monster stuff...

  • Damn good guitar & singing.

  • That white guy looks REALLY confused...

  • @Zemblan1 What guy are you referring to? the guy in the yellow t'shirt?

if you mean him..he is not confused..he knows what he is doing..Have you ever heard of Doyle Bramham II? if you are referring to someone else then i dont know.

  • god damn this is good shit, im 15 and its nice to finally see some decent music in my generation.

  • @romandtlopez im 12, and i agree with you 100%

  • The white dude looks like he's totally lost the whole song.

  • Finally, some decent music.

  • rocks!

  • blown away!! can't wait to catch you guys live

  • Putain que c'est bon

  • whos that on the drums?

  • @branimir1982 don't know. he kinda looks like Dave but he's not

  • damn i need mirrorized lenses

  • the guitarist on the strat has his strings upside down

  • @bonhambaker yeah thats doyle bramhall jr I think, hes played with clapton a bunch. A couple of lefty players have theirs strung upside down like that albert king is the only one I can think of off the top of my head

  • @Seabee613 Yes, it's Doyle Bramhall II. Otis Rush also played with his strings reversed. Coco Montoya does as well.

  • @bonhambaker shit he does

  • Comment removed

  • @bonhambaker That guitarist you are talking about is Doyle Bramhall II he is some mean blues player..look him up. he has played with Roger Waters and Eric Clapton.

    best wishes

  • i dont care who he sounds like i just like the fact that we have a young new talented person playing the blues. blues is fading into obscurity amongst the young (19 is what i am). some of my friends didnt know who eric clapton was. hope he finally gets blues back into the spotlight

  • Just seen him play last night at Maggie Mae's in Austin, he is amazing

He is such a nice fella

  • the bassist is tearing it up too

  • badass

  • Nice to see you again Music....it's been a minute hasn't it?

  • @BarCode712, I don't necessarily see it in this video, but he certainly is influenced by Hendrix, and it is very present in his music. Check out his solos (especially the second where they're playing the bassline of Dazed and Confused) in When My Train Pulls In (Live at Bardot Hollywood Three Piece) it's on Gary Clark, Jr.'s page. You might see why people make the comparison.

  • Robert Cray comes to mind...

  • 2:53 one of the best blues solos i've heard.

  • This just goes to show that mainstream is a bunch of little kids playing around with machines. It takes real instruments to make real music. Play it, my man.

  • Very exciting new talent, talented guy.

  • His playing doesn't have anything in common with Hendrix...

  • too bad people would rather listen to LMFAO. Music aint dead my niggaz sing it gary

  • and he`s gotta soma that bb king swag going for sure.

  • well he`s black, and plays a mighty fine guitar. right on witcha gary clark jr. right on. the spirit of hendrix lives on

  • mans got swag. thats for sure

  • thats some of the best live tone ive heard on those leads. killer badassery.

  • @9thstreetbrandt He's got a great sound.

  • nope, not hendrix at all, but gary clark jr. sounds good in his own.

  • holy shit. its hendrix. hes alive

  • hendrix.

  • hendrix.

  • love this guy, think he's great, but i think that if we want to make current day "next generation" hendrix comparisons we should start with eric gales

  • This guy is incredible! He and Dan Auerbach have uncanny similarities in voice & style.

  • @cachick420 Bingo.

  • Never heard of the guy before watching Clapton's Crossroads Fest 2010, but he stopped me in my tracks and I thought "wow, who the heck is this guy?!"

  • what a beautiful guitar!

  • he is alot like Ben Harper

  • @MrJayhawk1991 Other than a black guy with a tight Afro and aviators I see no similarities between Gary Clark Jr. and Ben Harper.

  • that was bitchen

  • who plays on bass ?

  • amazing...just found him and lovin' it...the reflection of the crowd in his glasses is killer

  • kid cudi + jimi hendrix = this man

  • @mscott148 kid cudi + jimi + bb king + swag = this man.

  • @mscott148 and a pinch of lenny kravitz

  • @mscott148 More like Sam Cooke + Hendrix = GCJr. He's the SHIT!!!!!!!!!!

  • @bbnatedogg agreed! fantastic stuff!

  • cant wait to see gary clark at coachella fest

  • Nice one !!! With Doyle Bramhall.

  • My theme song!!!

  • baby hendrix

  • the left handed guitarist looks like dane cook

  • did any one notice his devil teeth at 4:53 ?

  • I love the higher-pitched riff Doyle throws in. It makes the whole thing just pop. Love this version. Bright Lights is a good song without Doyle, but he puts it over the top.

  • is that a Gretsch?

  • @ccalkaneo Nope...it's an Epiphone.

  • Wakarusa '12 lineup announcement brought me to this wonderful sound I've never heard before... I'm so glad it did. Damn son!

  • amazing... anyone know what the bassist's name is??

  • this is what happens when man and guitar become one singular entity.......

  • House of Lies brought me here, this is beyond amazing !

  • Gary you were right on the money. A time where it all comes together , a real high, love it.

  • I'm sweating

  • Ron Paul 2012!!!!!!

  • The guitar solo gave me goose bumps

  • Wow..can't wait to see him at Coachella!!

  • This guy needs a strat.

  • @LoewenRanger every gutair sounds good in his hands

  • Ohhh man. I definitely know his name now.

  • Where has this guy been? His music should be everywhere! Got a nice bluesy classy rock feel just like the Black Keys.

  • Coachella here we go!

  • aaaamazing, thank you House of Lies :))

  • Iphone4s at 5:38

  • Did I see Dizzy's trumpet at 5:30 seconds?!

  • i'm outta here to find out where i can see this guy live...great.

  • Marry me Gary! :D

  • I AM HOOKED, keep it real and your feet on the ground......TO MANY influential musicians HAVE BEEN LOST IN THE PAST

  • Thats awesome that Doyle Bramhall is up there jammin with him

  • @olclero No. I mean Aloe Blacc meets The Black Keys. He's soulful, sings like Aloe Blacc and he rocks, he plays like The Keys.

  • The Black Keys yeah I hear it I'm loving it all the way through along with jimmy

  • Absolutely wonderful!!!

  • The crowd through his glasses...

    Trippy !

  • Like this comment if you think his bass player is the coolest guy in the band.

  • The best part of the House of Lies premiere episode was this song playing during the credits...

  • oh dear those glasses....

  • One of the best guitar rocking songs I,ve heard in a long time fucking amazing.....

  • @BlueSpawnRecords The simple things in life are the best ones.

  • zombie audience

  • @BlueSpawnRecords I don't care. It's amazing music, nothing else needs to be said.

  • @OneAndOnlyMrWest doesn't take much to amaze you....

  • Wow...It's like Aloe Blacc meets The Black Keys.

  • @OneAndOnlyMrWest except the Keys wrote 'Thickfreakness" --- a good song ----.....this guy stole a Jimmy Reed song and 'simpled' it up....turned it into a vamp...

  • @BlueSpawnRecords

Welcome to the blues, where the entire genres discography is open to appropriation and re-use. It's not 100% stolen but certain parts of the lyrics are I guess. Also, don't think he really simpled it up. Jimmy Reed's blues is about as simple and laid back as it gets back.

  • @dd1yr Well, this song is part "Bright Lights, Big City" and a twist on "Ain't That Lovin' You Baby " where he says 'you don't even know my name'. Rest in peace Jimmy Reed. .Elvis, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones and everybody else apes Jimmy's songs. One of Chicago's greatest bluesmen songwriters alongside Willie Dixon, Muddy and Wolf and others... On a side note, if ya'll like blues...check out Magic Sam - West Side Soul. That hits the spot. fo real.

  • @BlueSpawnRecords

No way!?!?!?! You are trying to tell me that an artist used another artists work? That is insane. So like one musician listened to a song and put his own spin on it? Blasphemy I tell you.... On a side note, so did Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Muddy, Wolf and others. In the 30s and 40s musicians would use the exact same riff and write ten songs with it. O how creative genius has disappeared.

  • @BlueSpawnRecords

Also the way you hold a youtube discussion makes you seem like a hipster looking for someone to listen. So I am sorry that even on youtube everyone thinks you are lame.

  • @BlueSpawnRecords

It really isn't. He took the the title from the Jimmy Reed Tune and made a chorus out of it. The rest of the content does not resemble anything Jimmy Reed has put out. How can you compare Aint that lovin you baby and this tune... "you don't even know my name" "you're gonna know my name by the end of the night". zzzz. You don't need to tell me who to listen to I'm well into all types of traditional blues. Magic Sam is alright but Otis Rush does it better

  • @OneAndOnlyMrWest

Anyone hating on this cat needs to hear him do T.Bone Walker or B.B. King. The guy is a real blues player unlike Aloe Blac or The Keys.

  • @dd1yr Um, Aloe Blacc isn't a blues musician and has never claimed to be. He's a throwback to those old Motown soul and R&B singers, and a pretty damn good one at that. There's no reason to incorrectly disrespect one artist just to prop up another.

  • @upther exactly what I'm getting at.. hes not a blues musician? In what way was what I said disrespectful to Aloe Blacc? I just said he isn't a blues musician which you clearly agree with. Lol @ YouTube arguments

  • @OneAndOnlyMrWest You mean Hendrix meets Black Keys :)

  • And I don't know Robert Johnson from Eric Clapton. I know Robert Johnson from Robert Johnson. He is an amazing acoustic blues guitarist. He does things no one today can even do.

  • @DrTeeth771 Yeah right....ever hear of Rory Block...she seems to have a note-for-note Robert Johnson guitar style...I could go on....it's just a waste of keystrokes...too much mercury vapor for you Dr.Dipsh)t

  • I don't know how any of you fucks could compare this guy to Hendrix or SRV. He's not even close. He's good. That's all folks. Great? Naw...

  • @BlueSpawnRecords

I mean you still suck though

  • @DrTeeth771 ... you swallow.

  • @BlueSpawnRecords

Ever been to Memphis? Better blues than Chicago. Anyone that talks up Chicago blues is an idiot. Childish for that matter. I can't believe Chicago blues club gets attention its bad for music..... See what I am doing? I am acting like you. A stupid f*ck.

  • @DrTeeth771 awww....fluoride got you acting testy today..? hey dummy...Crossroads is hosted by Chicago...E. Crapton's choice...see..see see....whatever, loser.

  • Agreed, Gary Clark Jr., where have you been?? I KNOW YOUR NAME NOW and I'm so glad.

  • Check out 11 year-old Ray Goren....remarkably, he blows Gary Clark away!

  • Holy Moses! I just now heard this guy playing in the credits from a showtime show. Where have you been Gary Clark Jr?? Why arent the people in the audience freaking out right now? Im a Black Keys fan along with the all the classic guys too. Heck I like most music but this kid is blowing me away!

  • @brubeckn you read my mind! his voice is amazing. and i looove the Black Keys too.

  • @brubeckn You took the words right out of my mouth! After watching this, I gotta put him at the top of my list.
