This album took a few plays to grow on me...it didn't strike me as that great at first, but every time I play it, I enjoy it more and more. Each Beirut release seems to be a bit of an experiment; each album/EP sounds different than any of the others. I think that's great - that Condon et al. are growing as a band, trying things out, and having fun with it.
Now...if I could only manage to catch a concert for once!
@MuseManMike ...thats one weak comment ... i personally like this album the most so far. I love the other eps and albums too but I like their change. Its more "positive music" instead of this little depressive touch of their former music. But hey thats just my two cents .
So dont call the album "weak" just because you dont like it that much...
I preordered this 4 months ago. I received it aug 28. Never had the chance to listen to it til today. Synced it in my ipod and rode the bus to work listening to it. It's a cloudy rainy day. Still feeling hurt from last night, the songs mellow me out. Then this song comes on. I look out the window and through all the gray sky a tiny blue sky emerges. The sun shining leaving golden clouds. Then it was as if zach was singing to me. Headstrong he said. As he sang the blue sky grew bigger. Perfect.
wow. he re-did my favorite of his! he wrote this song "Untitled 1" when he was 15 or 16. he is a musical genius. and for those who don't like this album and you're saying that you are a die hard fan of beirut well apparently you haven't listened to his early stuff. which in my opinion are better then anything else.
Zach seems to have drawn from "The Joy of Losing Weight" tracks and new material, cool to see some of those songs get out... in one form or the other.
I'm listening to this song in 1841

There are two songs in this one, like he used a colon. Related, but not the same thing. Love the entire thing, not just the first 1:30.

Each of Beirut's songs are unique and different.

This song is an untamable spirit that is happy to rest a while with the good intention of never changing from its wild abandonment and wayward ways.

@MuseManMike Damn, I've only been listening to this album so far. If this is their weakest album they must be gods.

@midnightwallflower They're all very good, but this is less interesting as it does nothing new. Well worth getting their back catalogue.

Definitely their weakest album, but I'm just loving this song.

@Magikawp I enjoyed his other works more as well, but calling this disgusting is, for lack of better words, cunty, as well as an errant falsehood.
