It is a common misperception that SRB-A is made by ATK. The license of ATK was only used in the motor case molding process of a part of SRB-A. The H-2 has ATK boosters. Those are the guys who make the Space Shuttle's SRBs! It gives the H-2 a classic APCP flame, in addition to greatly increasing its capability. Japan made the right choice for the boosters.

Actually the solid fuel rockets are made from: Aluminium oxide, Aluminium chloride, solid nitrous oxide and nitrous cellulose that is because cellulose when it burns it expands at a factor of 900.

And yes the liquid rocket engines are powered by a mix of Hydrogen & Oxygen in a ratio of 2:1.
