  • hell yeah ! thanx !

  • SWEET HOME CHICAGO

  • EARL RULED THE ROOAST!!!PEROID!

  • When Buddy Guy hit Chi Town "The Man" there was "The Hook". Buddy says it a LOT in interviews. Earl Hooker played somethin' and Buddy wanted to quit playin'! He was just like"Fuck it, what's the use, I just heard it done THE BEST it could be done. Why bother"? HAHA I love it. R.I.P. Hubert Sumlin. I only last week heard he died last month. He was somethin' special too.

    PEACE ALL.

  • Everyone should have to listen to Earl use the Wah pedal before they pick one up. This could only be good for the future of music.

  • it's Honky Tonk guys, Earl Hooker style, Billy Butler's amazing instrumental. I think it is based on You Don't Have To Go... a very big hit. Earl is one amazing guitar player. I met Luther Allison around 1978 and asked him who his main influence was and he said "Earl Hooker Earl Hooker Earl Hooker..."

  • éste es el hombre.......que sonido

  • SWEET HOME CHICAGO EARL HOOKER!!!! ONE OF THE GREAT CHICAGO BLUES MEN!!!!

BABY DON'T YOU WANT TO GO.... BACK TO THAT SAME O' PLACE...MY SWEET HOME CHICAGO!!! EARLS THE MAN!!!

  • Fuck TB..

    !_!

  • shit is banging period fuck the new stuff

  • Love this SO much!!!!!!!!

  • this song is beautiful, damn. especially the mid part of the vid :')

  • You can hear where Hendrix might have gotten a bit of Red House from at 0:49.

  • @MadM4X939 Possibly. But am i the only one hearing "Sweet Home Chicago" in this one?

  • @bronenalladin i'm hearing that too, sounds very similar

  • @MadM4X939 I hear the phrase or lick you're talking about but disagree....that lineage goes way back, probably pre-dating Robert Johnson's era (1930's). Its a fairly common motif, just played in various tempos over the years...but nonetheless, good observation

  • additionally, Hooker started using wah-wah in around '68...this recording is probably '68 or '69...Jimi's version of "Red House" was recorded earlier (i believe late '66 or in early '67)

  • This is Honky Tonk .Hooker was a monster the baton was passed from Robert Nighthawk to Hooker.

  • That Wah-Wah peddel has got to go...

  • It has never and will never get any better than this. That guitar just speaks to your very being. Thank you Mr Hooker.

  • MY GRANDFATHER

  • @toshortonfire If he is, you good genius in your blood, babe !

  • out of this world truley amazing

  • Que bueno es este tio, Hendrix hizo genial al nombrarlo Rey del pedad Wah-Wah

  • The song Earl is playing is Honkey Tonk by Bill Dogget released in the fifties.

  • @harrybluz ya sure its not jimmy reeds 'you dont have to go'?

  • @harrybluz Sounds more like 'You Don't have to Go' by Jimmy Reed. He even plays the melody that Jimmy played on his harp, but both of those tunes do sound similar.

  • This is very good stuff!!

  • Hooker was ahead of his time!!

  • Yea lol, honky tonk, cool stuff

  • Such a criminally underrated musician...

  • hendrix took alot from him

  • Fucking damn!! Why did he have to die!? this is a hidden gem.

  • Hookin Tonk! ;) Cool stuff!

  • hell yeah

  • RIP Zebedee

    damn the TB.

one of them giants he was/is...

    rt here on da 2ooB.

    thx otutitsnileameuQ

  • Thanks to you! In the future ill upload more videos of this cool guy.

  • HEAVY SWING ON THE WAH !!!!

  • What I want to know is if Honky Tonk ripped off this song or the other way.

  • Earl was mostly influenced by Robert Nighthawk, very likely that Billy Butler had heard Earl doing this sort of instrumental at some point.

  • @assfax its blues dude. they all shared songs and licks.

  • Earl was the real deal!
