Listen, everybody, and listen well. YOU, that's right, YOU have to become a PCP, a pricinct commitee person in your county! If the office is occupied by someone else, file for the neighboring precinct. WE THE PEOPLE can elect Ron Paul in 2012, because the PCP's of this country, by county, are the ones who vote in the primary elections. WE CAN DO IT!
If Paul runs, I'd like Jesse Ventura to be Vice, so we're o.k. if anything happens to the good doctor. Plus, with them two in office, there's no way wacky tobaccy would not be legalized.
Who woulda thunk Schiff would run for the Senate? The Senate would be a warm up and he would go for the presidency if sucessful. Schiff is asking for volunteers.
well, he also has the name recognition now. Mistakes have been made during the campaign and they should have concentrated on NH earlier and held many town hall meetings. No one in primary can announce his VP choice, but Gary Johnson should campaign with him and is IMHO the logical choice as VP. Read dougwead's blog, he also want Paul to run.
yes indeed, but need better ads than that in NH! It should be very professional, and aimed a bit at local NH issues as well (one sentence perhaps) and the aim should be clearly to win, and not only spreading the message. He should work on support among older voters and further improve youth vote, also those that voted for Obama. He should speak at NH universities!
Absolutely, as much money as he raised, there was no excuse for the poor quality and pathetic production quality of his commercials. I still support Paul, but he needs much better media people if he's considering a 2012 run.
I'll support Ron Paul in 2012, just like I did in 2007-2008, but he absolutely NEEDS a better media consultant (or whatever). The commercials for his campaign sucked balls and some of them were actually turn-offs. If he can get a team that knows how to do good editing and is creative, then I think he'll get a lot of support.
one thought i had was maybe he could promise a one term presidency and make clear in advance who his veep would be. I'm thinking Ventura to maximize chance of winning but who knows.
I think the long term success of libertarian thought hinges more on the over all survival of the species. As much as that may seem like hyperbole of a sort, understand that at the heart of our message for liberty is the fact that all the opposing points of view offer more or less death of the species via inefficiencies and self inflicted brutalities.
Thus, we as libertarians of all kinds need to voice this immutable truth of our message if we're ever to get anywhere 'politically.'
I would support him again if..... he is in it to win and not to educate. He would have to get a lot better campaign team than he had this time. Good commercials and lots of them!
I for one would not support another run by Ron Paul. Mostly because of how 08 Paul campaign squandered opportunities. Many of his campaign managers actively tried to shut down grassroots advertising. In Alaska the Ron Paul meetup leader removed from campaign office in Alaska. The lack of professional television advertising relevant to area. ie. no mention of bringing the troops home in the ad about having the largest share of military donations.
I think many Libertarians will see a 2nd Ron Paul run as being a way to siphon off campaign money and effort from Libertarians. And the whole split the vote then endorsement of the Constitution Party candidate, will not be forgotten. The, "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice shame on me," feeling will apply to many former Ron Paul supporters.
The Libertarian Party is not a significant factor in U.S. politics. Anything that siphons liberty activism away from them....toward more successful activism...is good.
It is a factor in local politics. However Libertarians in the two major parties are not factors. The party machine shuts them down every time. Yeah they get a higher percentage of the vote by claiming to be a Republican or Democrat but they still lose the elections. The respective parties always root them out, tell the membership they are moles or con-artist. I saw this happen with many of the RP congressional candidates even the very well funded ones that managed to make it out of primary.
I would like to see Rand Paul put forward as a possible candidate. He seems to understand the issues just as well as his father and would breathe new life into the campaign. If Ron wishes to run again, then great; he has already done so much.
I hope after the dismal performance of third parties this time around everyone has figured out not to drink that kool-aid...and learned to fight it out as republicans or democrats.
And I would hope people will not drink the kool-aid and learn that the DEM and GOP political machines will keep Libertarian leaning candidates out of significant offices. A loss by a higher percentage is still a loss.
Doesn't matter what age he is. He's intellegent, has more intergrity than any other politician I've seen and he cares about people. This guy could literally build peace and prosperity around the world with his policies of following the constitution and protecting civil liberties. America would be more than lucky to have him at any age.
Ron Paul is as libertarian you can get and is only running as republican because there is no real democracy in the us and there is no place for a third party and he is forced to run as republican to even have the slightest chance which he also admits was the reason he left the libertarian party.
He'll be too old in my opinion. He already looked his age from time to time this go round. However I'm confident that in four years we'll have plenty of good options and more importantly the third party movement should have it's act together.
As an anarchist there are many things about Ron Paul that I really disagree with. Having said that, he would surely be a step in the right direction. Still, I don't think he has the charisma to win the presidency. Neither did Bush, of course, but he was up against Gore.
the problem is that the system is set up where only a democrat or republican can win. Local elections I could see Libertarians winning but national elections are owned by the system.
Instead of advocating leaving the RP--a retreat--you are putting together and invasion plan? Brilliant!!! But, will there be enough of us to be able to take back the RP from the squishy leftist repubs?
that's cool I'm not a libertarian either, libertarians nominate CIA agents like Bob Barr who wants government. I'm a principled former libertarian, in other words. . .a voluntaryist
And why did that happen. Well way too many Libertarians were tied up in the Ron Paul campaign. Their money and energy were burned up in the hope that Ron Paul would run as the Libertarian Presidential candidate. Mary Ruwart was tied up in RP campaign which made her a slow starter. If she had been actively seeking the nomination instead, Barr would not have won. I could easily say missing Libertarian delegates were still campaigning for RP in the vain at the time Barr won the nomination.
Ron Paul is a libertarian. Bob Barr is a neo-Libertarian. I would have sacrificed my principles to elect Ron Paul. I would not sacrifice my principles for an unprincipled 'man'. . . a coward, a fool, and his sports jockey running mate. Good riddence to the LP
Maybe this is difficult for you to realize but the election is over. Bob Barr was the nominee and only because so many Libertarians spent their time and energy on the RP campaign. But then again you sound like a good little Republican who doesn't want any more people to defect to the Libertarian party. Considering how the GOP treated Ron Paul, attempting to keep him out of debates and changing primary rules just to steal wins. I say good riddence to the GOP.
if you think I'm a republican, frankly you're being foolish. I'm a Voluntaryist, and I didn't vote for any of them. I actually don't want republicans to become libertarians, I wish the republic/libertarians became republicans so we can have our principled party back.
I suppose all the democrat/libertarians should go back to the democratic party as well. Where the leadership in the Dem party will treat them the same way RP was treated by the GOP. I understand the need to have some benchmarks to be able to be Libertarian. But if that benchmark is too high it means there will be no opposition to the main two parties. They will collude and sell off policy only pretending to represent differing views.
Listen, everybody, and listen well. YOU, that's right, YOU have to become a PCP, a pricinct commitee person in your county! If the office is occupied by someone else, file for the neighboring precinct.
