Lying Bitch Repuplicans and Fucking Retarded people who support them should be marched into a field, forced to dig a grave then be bashed on their Fucking stupid heads with the dirty shovel so they fall into the grave.
LOL, the point of Government healt care are zero profit margins. A system run by he people, for the people can not deny anyone coverage because we would all pay into it. This fool is lying, flat out. Its funny Republicans trust insurance companies who make billions of dollars in profit every year over a system they could run themselves. IDIOTS. This is exactly why the GOP is dying. Exactly why they lost control of the Government in 08.
ignotant people that clapped are just stupid idiots.. look at all the stupid morons that don't have the sense to know the facts ..what a bunch of sheep.. they deserve what they get.. most look like they are on medicare a government program.. stupid shitheads !!
Pete Olson counters back that the government "might" have rejected her. See how sure he is about his opposition? MIGHT.
The woman was lucky her insurance company didn't reject her. Most would. But since we don't have access to her records, maybe she is just making it all up.
Jesus would not give a crap about your healthcare and you should be ashamed of using the Lords name in vain. Jesus cares about your soul. Do people that argue this WWJD point actually think that by using Jesus's name as a selling point or marketing tool for Healthcare works on people of faith.
Ill say a prayer for you and your misguided friends.
If you read the article in today's Houston Chronicle you learn that the insurance company DIDN'T deny her but covered most of the $300,000 transplant and the $5000 a day care.
You know none of these pukes pushing for "FREE" healthcare would argue that fact. Instead they just ignore your comment because they want to continue playing their pathetic little game of "We the Democrat are right and You Republicans are wrong".
ha ha ha! Republicans make me laugh. No private insurance company would cover her. She found a doctor who would help. and then he says that public insurance wouldn't have helped at all, which is ridiculous. Americans really need to step up and sort out this nonesense. Try and get Universal Healthcare, if not public option is next best thing. Good luck, from England!
Mokona7 BUPA uses National Healthcare facilities. The issue we have in the UK is not that the National Health Service does not work, because it does for the majority of people. It is the minority, and the minority of specialist cases where it sometimes is a let down. To solve this problem the UK government needs to spend the money allocated for the NHS, on the NHS instead of building Channel Tunnels to France. Then this issue however small could be dealt with properly. Who is Sparks127?
It's true. Britney was turned down by private insurance. How could Rep theorize what would happen with govt healthcare when it hadn't even been finalized yet? What we know is that today's insurance companies turned her down.
BigJimbo106:Who are you talking about. Rejected by blacks? have you read Obama's books about his life. You should before you comment, so you can check the facts. Obama was raised in Hawaii, there were no black families there. He spent his early life with whites and orientals. He then lived in Indoneisa, moved back to Hawaii. Then went to the US mainland where he met blacks for the first time. Black people have never rejected him but do disagree on his politics!
In an interview he gave on channel 7 (not sure if you get ABC were you are). He spoke about how in college, Black people thought he was "acting white" and rejected him, until he got to the trinity church (which is probably why it was so hard for him to denounce the pastor). By the way I did read his book. try not to ASSume shit.
He loved his grandmother BigJimbo106. I've never heard him say (or read anything he wrote) alleging he was rejected by Black people in his early life. You made that up.
Judas goat (Olson) leading the pathetic sheep to their slaughter (and they clap with glee)... lie based fear is such an easy tool for the hopelessly ignorant... this nation is doomed. The rest of the world will pass us by - they know better, and think period.
The democratic party has a majority of seats in both houses,,ask yourself why?
Because a majority of the electorate voted for them based on progressive ideas including healthcare ,including a public option, this was a cornerstone of the obama campaign and was no secret,,,democrats had and have a popular mandate
It is how they represent the majority who sent them to washington
It seems the only argument people give AGAINST a public option is that it will lead to a total government takeover. That's like saying if you allow gays to marry it will lead to human/animal marriages.
It's amazing how people allow fear tactics to lead them to fight against their own best interests.
Stupid Republicans. Ever wonder why everyone else in America think you are moral trash? This video is an example. This republican shithead gave an example of the near death of a child by the current health care system and yet tried to spin it against the creation of a public option.
Republicans are like vampires. To kill them for good you have to drive stakes thought their hearts.
The health insurance companies nearly killed this child by denying care. This republican shithead then claims that because the private health insurance companies were nearly responsible for this childs death that the public option would also attempt to throw this child's life away.
National health spending is expected to reach $2.5 trillion in 2009, accounting for 17.6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). By 2018, national health care expenditures are expected to reach $4.4 trillion—more than double 2007 spending. (Sitka)
The Republicans and or Obama plan, is just more of the same. Plenty of profit for the greedy pharmaceuticals and the health care companies. We should model the European Plan, is just 10% of their GDP & we'll save 1 Trillion dollars a year.
Brittney was not denied coverage, her private insurance paid for the prodecure that was performed on her son. She and Mr. Olson are both making the assumption that adding a public option would lead to single-payer which would lead to rationing which would lead to probable denial of the procedure. Those are a lot of assumptions to skip over to make the statement that Brittany's son would have died with a public option. Mr. Olson adds nothing to the debate, the 22nd of Texas deserves better...
kai and lambert...google Ezekiel Emanuel and his idea to deny coverage...yes, Rahm's brother..and Sarah Palins response to Obama about him and what he says about rationing care. There is alot of misinformation going down on both sides. Lambert, the Republican AND Democrat parties should both be destroyed ! They are tools to the Banking Elite. Google 1. Money Masters
These Republicans are DANGEROUS. Private insurance companies actually have death panels. They have employees whose sole purpose it is to look through a patient's medical history and find anything they can in that history to deny a medical claim so they don't have to pay out money. Again, PRIVATE insurance companies PAY individuals to find ways to DENY coverage to people.
And yet these inbred morons are cheering on complete lies.
@lambert2193 These republican supporters are the unhatched eggs of fascism, all that awaits is an economic collapse for them to be roaming the streets looking for "commanists" "libruls" "moslams" and "mexicains" to sacrifice before the alter of their republican benefactors.
Conspiracy theories of total socialization are utter nonsense. As long as there is a market for private insurance (by really wealthy people that don't want to wait or want super premium services, or by hypochondriacs) it will not dissolve. The dual system is a brilliant idea that will give poor or unemployed individuals health care, something that should be a right in the world's hegemonic democracy. 18,000 people die every year because they do not have access to health treatment.
Another ignorant republican chicken shit. Audience members challenge him and he cuts everything off before he shits his diaper. The audience members applauding are just as stupid. Maybe they can wipe his ass for him.
I love the looks on the faces of the crazy townhallers as they look around with that look on ther faces that says "Shhh, I was coming here to hear some disinformation so I could go off like a crazy person, and here are you people trying to interject facts into the conversation!"
Libro, these health care companies have signed on to help with Obama's effort so I don't see how citing their salaries as too high is supposed to help your side of the debate. Nonetheless, none of the CEO salaries seem too high given the huge size of the companies they run. UNH made 3.4 billion profit last year (4% of sales), the CEO's salary is 1/3 of 1% of their total profit, not unreasonable. (Cigna's CEO salary is 2% of their profit. Humana's CEO's salary is 1.2% of their profit.)
If the government option is funded by the government and not the people who use it, it is a takeover. You know it. I know it. Even the Democrats know it and have said so. They won't try to socialize ALL of the healthcare at one time because they know you would not accept it. They will simply drive out private insurance companies. Through regulation and cost, they will get single payer.
So what if the private insurance companies fail. They perform no labor, they don't even deserve to exist. I find it hilarious these people are against helping out their fellows but have no problems with helping executives make ridiculous amounts of money. A computer could do their job.
This has been happening in all Town Hall meetings. Republican Congressmen lying to the American People.
An insurance Company refused to pay for a baby heart transplant---because a specialist surgeon fee is too costly---so that lying Republican douchebag blames the Government !!
The Insurance Company was willing to let that baby dies ... so that Republican SOB blames Obama's Public Option !!
Obama Health Care Reform would have forced the Insurance Co. to pay this legit medical claim.
Also this notion that the clock is ticking for Medicare and Medicaid is another lie concocted by the GOP who have hated medicare and medicaid since it started. They are selfish, sons of bitches who really need to be put out of business. Capitalism has absolutely no business in health care. Capitalist healthcare is based on the reality that if you are not rich enough to afford it then you're out of luck. You need to just go out and die or you should mortgage all your possessions and go broke.
librophile You're right on about a Capitalist in Health Care is a system wherein a person is not a human being but only a profit producing unit. It's incredibly insane and sad how brainwashed and uneducated so many people are about this and they just use the old McCarthyest fear mongering to keep the status quo.
"CommonSenseJoe -What reality? You mean the reality that this is not about reform but about a complete takeover of healthcare. You mean the reality that liberals know the clock is ticking on Medicare and Medicaid. You mean the reality that this is nothing more than a big power and money grab by the administration." Well mr commonsense' The healthcare system is screwed because of the GOP. If you want the means to attain great healthcare look at virtually every other industrialized nation.
my god, that man speaking and all the people agreeing with him are IDIOTS. if you disagree with the current plan, that is understandable. but at least come up with a valid reason!
Well, I'm glad people on this vid have intelligent conversations where people one both sides knows what they are talking about. I hate ones were they call Obama a commi nigger...pisses me off and makes me hate republicans more...I know for a fact that the republican party is full of great ideas but right now most people defending them on youtube are racist bitches. anyway, glad u guys aren't doing that...yet.
So lets get this straight. Your saying, that by providing a second option to healthcare financing, our governemnt is growing to a point of no return? The only thing I see them controlling is competition in the healthcare market, which I consider to be a joke. Remember that to allow a monopoly like insurance to run free, is to take away our own. To allow freedom to a predator is to deny freedom to his prey.
So, you would rather have a government monopoly? Consider this. Anything that the government has ever put its hands on has backfired. I believe that as businesses decide that they would rather pay an 8% penalty than provide healthcare options to their employees, those employees will be dumped into the govt. public option plan. Some insurance companies will not be able to handle the loss, and they will fold, which means less competition. Aren't you worried about the trillions in new debt?
Well why in countries like France and Canada do you see both privatized insurance and govt. offered, and they have been doing just fine? I've been researching their system, and although it wouldnt benefit healthy people very much, I htink it would go a long way for the rest.
I have to go to bed, but just a quick comment. I don't know about France, but there is mixed reviews coming from them concerning their health care. If you have been studying it, then I would think that you have come across this. Examples: The satisfaction level changes when it comes to going under the knife. Asked which system would provide access to surgery "as soon as possible," just 32 percent of Canadians opted for their own system: 41 percent answered the American health care system.
Also, Two-in-five Canadians (40 percent) answered that they would pay out-of-pocket to have access to health care services in another country if they could, a view shared by just 28 percent of Americans.
its positive news that we already have the infrastructure in place for excellent emergency surgery. but there are cost effective and not profitable areas of medicine that need to be included into our system.
Read some of the comments coming from the Congressional Budget Office. Their figures are disturbing. If this goes through, watch for tax increases across the board. Match those increases up with the energy cost increases if the Cap and Trade bill goes through, and you will be wondering where your pay check has gone every week. Actually, you'll know where it went because you'll see it on your pay stub. Inflation will be akin to the Carter years when I had a 19% interest on my car loan. :(
I actually do wonder where my paycheck goes every week. then i see my insurance on there. now i know where all my money is. but i still don't know why my insurance won't cover my medical bills, or why i have to wait for another month and a half to get approved for medicine i need to go back to work. the doctor's office said they wait to approve medicine because people can't afford to miss much work. i went ahead and paid after waiting for 3 months for the injections jsut so i can get back 2 work
And I disagree with your view on government. I'm all about freedom. Obama is growing the government tremendously. The larger the government gets, the less personal freedoms we have. Government needs to be kept in check. When the constitution was written, they signers were very wary of an overbearing government. Well guess what. We have that today. What will you do when cap & trade increases your electric bill by almost 90% & fuel costs for cars double or more?
We will all become totally dependent on government for our needs. That's coercion. The government will do as it pleases because most will be beholden to it, and they would not want to rock the boat. Is that what you want? Less government = more freedom.
your first sentence..very true. However, less government does not equal more freedom...just more anarchy and your freedoms are than up to sources that take advantage of that chaos whether it be your local alleyway robbers or big dirty corporations sticking it to you. A government is not evil by nature. And its the bad people in a government that take away your freedoms, not the government. The government is supposed to be a system made to bring order to society ..nothing more.
A government is set up to provide some very basic services. They are not created to be caretakers. Government needs to be kept in check. They need to run on a budget, just like you and I. I don't agree with your anarchy statement. Less government does not mean that there is no policing. It means spending money wisely, and stopping the ever expanding role of government in our lives. PH "Give me liberty, or give me death".
brisbail although govermenment was never designed to take care of us, it was designed to "protect us". I think we could both agree on the idea that everyone driving cars should be insured, just like everyone seeing a doctor for medical issues should too. The problem with this is, the government is telling me I have to pay Joe's prices, but Joe is going down the street telling Larry "if we both raise our prices, they'll still pay"! This is obviously a very unfair situation.
I'm not denying that some reform is necessary, but Obamacare is not. If Obama decided to leave everything as is, and then cover just those here legally who don't have insurance, I think I read the other day that it would cost much less than the current plans that are being debated. Have a good night.
Conservatives also appear to be more generous than liberals in nonfinancial ways. People in red states are considerably more likely to volunteer for good causes, and conservatives give blood more often. If liberals and moderates gave blood as often as conservatives, Mr. Brooks said, the American blood supply would increase by 45 percent.
When I started doing research on charity, Mr. Brooks wrote, I expected to find that political liberals — who, I believed, genuinely cared more about others than conservatives did — would turn out to be the most privately charitable people. So when my early findings led me to the opposite conclusion, I assumed I had made some sort of technical error. I re-ran analyses. I got new data. Nothing worked. In the end, I had no option but to change my views.
The upshot is that Democrats, who speak passionately about the hungry and homeless, personally fork over less money to charity than Republicans — the ones who try to cut health insurance for children.
I know many democrats who give their money to help other people. And if conservatives weren't under the delusional idea that money is going to trickle right down into our wallets from the top, I might feel more simpathetic.
Just read the article. You are discounting something that you didn't even read. The title is provided in one of my posts, and you can do a google on it. And by the way, money does tend to trickle down when new businesses are opened and jobs are created. Government is never the answer. You honestly believe that govt is going to GIVE you money? Govt loves to take your money, and it wants a lot more in the near future. Wake up! BTW, I'm a moderate Democrat.
brisbail im not discounting the article. I am actually very interested in the book at the moment. I too would consider myself a mod. dem., however I disagree with your views on government for the simple fact that govt. is not designed to operate like the Wallstreet businesses out here eating up profits everyday. There is no CEO banking millions, no stocks, etc., therefore there is no incentive to take more of our money except to provide services to our own selves.
Actually, there's a conflict of interest with government. They look a projects and say to themselves "well, we don't have the money for it now, but we can raise taxes to cover it". I know that sounds simplistic, but all I'm trying to say is the the government has never had a problem trying to grab as much money as possible from us. Believe me, I've been screwed royally in the past. I don't mind the idea of taxes. I do mind the idea of govt largesse, greed, ineptness, lies & abuse of power.
The article is based on investigation. Your comment is based on your opinion, as if "many Democrats" means anything to anyone here reading your comment. How many is "many"? Two?
Arthur Brooks, the author of a book on donors to charity, Who Really Cares, cites data that households headed by conservatives give 30 percent more to charity than households headed by liberals. A study by Google found an even greater disproportion: average annual contributions reported by conservatives were almost double those of liberals.
The generosity index from the Catalogue for Philanthropy typically finds that red states are the most likely to give to nonprofits,...
A Republitard blatantly gets caught in a lie, yet half the room still claps. The GOP have gotten to the point of putting Party before the use of their brains, however tiny they may be.
This holiday season is a time to examine whos been naughty and whos been nice, but Im unhappy with my findings. The problem is this: We liberals are personally stingy. Liberals show tremendous compassion in pushing for generous govt spending to help the neediest people at home and abroad. Yet when it comes to individual contributions to charitable causes, liberals are cheapskates.
It is pretty damn clear that her case would be reviewed and be approved. And if she didn't like the verdict to fucking bad. And I am sure the public option would have offered an abortion. You libs/Commies are pathetic and your being called out. The Democrats are viewing your pathetic attempt at overthrowing the gov with your stupid and radical ideas. Many Dems are abandoning their party as independent or Republican. Obama=46% approval and slipping.
Your just mad because your party leaders suck. And like a brainwashed liberal you saw the word republican and threw a tantrum. I guess you forgot I mentioned independents. Independents are the largest growing party in the nation. But, you keep swallowing the spin MSN-BS puts on things to make you feel good about their party.
In the end the Indep, Dem and Rep conservatives will bail this country out of the crap Obama has got us into.
HR3200 need a copy? Got it on my desktop. If you can read.
You sound like a teenager with that comment. I'm just "mad." *lmao*
Now stop lying. You haven't read the bill and you know it. It's obvious because you fell back on the right wing meme about abortion and "commies". *geeze* You're so transparent.
Oh' and again, aggregated poll data show the divide on party identification is 53% Democratic and 39% Republican. You're a dead ender! Enjoy that.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Here's another poll ;
29% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove.
Like I said earlier take you party and shove it up your ass. This isn't Dem , Rep or Ind problem its about America and a president who is serving his self interest.
Another poll from where makeinstall... from where? I'm sure your friends at free republic or Human Events or Fox News will tell where they got that misinformation from if you ask them. *lmao*
Exactly what crap did Prez Obama get us into dummy?
Present recession started in Dec 2007 & Bushistas didnt tell us until after Nov. elections remember?
How many persons would have kept their 401ks invested in stocks had they known before financial glass bottom broke from under them in Aug 2008 & DOW kept nose-diving to half its August value when Bush mercifully left office in Jan 2009?
Are you living under a rock. Maybe you've never heard of the Congressional budget office but they said "Under current law, the federal budget is on an unsustainable path,". Obama gambled on healthcare based on the CBO input. If Obama does not pass the healthcare form the economy is projected at a shortfall of 1.85 Trillion in 2009, in 2010 1.4 trillion. Do you fucking get it? this moron Obama bet your future and if healthcare fails he fails. Whos to blame here? Bush. Not.
Why did Cons support us throwing away $3 Trillion overseas in an Iraq war for a non-existent Nuclear WMD threat to bomb them into the stone-age (& when none were found the theme was changed to Operation Iraq Freedom), in off budget allocations. In addition to wasting $600B a year by our Defense Dept to retool itself for fighting a guerrilla war in the streets of Baghdad.
BTW 90% of the National debt was incured by the Raygun/Bushista team
The Insurance companies had nothing to do with her first attempts to get the heart surgery done... These idiots crying out she was turned down by the Insurance Companies are talking out they're rear ends... The Doctors didn't want to take the risk... I guarantee it... It took a specialist to do the surgery...
I can't think of any doctor that would tackle a heart transplant in a 17 day old child... No wonder she was turned down by the "free market doctors"... I do believe Congressman Olson didn't quite make this point clear...
The Rescumlicans once again projecting their evil. Rescumlicans=party of money, period. Consistently trying to convince people otherwise, no conscience, no compassion. The Rescumlicans.
Oh, those evil, evil Republicans. Compassion? I guarantee you that more Republicans attend church, and donate their money (tithe at least 10% of their income) than do Democrats who, as a whole do not attend church services regularly. I bet you that a survey of what people have donated in the past year will show Republicans far exceeding Democrats in generosity. Liberals love to tell others how to spend their money, but when it comes to donations, the lag far behind. That's hypocrisy.
going to church shows you have a mental disorder. i know i speak for the marjority where i live, but for the minority in the states. still, going to church does not make you a better person. i think "childfuckers" says enough.
and your argument is based on pure fiction. you dont know, you have no numbers, yet make this claim. kindly said, thats ridicules.its like saying " i bet if you do a survey the us has the best healthcare system",ridicules.
Go read the article. As far as mental orders are concerned, I'm surprised they let you out of the asylum. And no, you don't speak for anyone but yourself, so don't be so deluded, nitwit.
Did I say "going to church makes you a better person". All I did was provide some information from an article done by a liberal for the New York Times. I guess the truth hurts a little, doesn't it?
so youre saying you are NOT implying that going to church makes you a nobler person?!
because without that your comment makes no sense. rep: go to church aka better people/care more. dems: go less-care not as much. thats what you are implying, and i do not agree.
Well of course it wasn't the government that denied care because Obamascare has not been passed yet. But, if Obamascare had been in place, there is a very good chance that the cost of the operation for the child would have been deemed too expensive, and the child could very well have been denied service. Sarah Palin was right. Death panels, or whatever name those who want to sugarcoat them with, are in the bill. If you are deemed unworthy, then losts of luck getting care.
So, privete insurence failed and the goodness of doctores won. If there was a public option the goodness of doctores would not have won. The government is going to stop docs from doing their job... why? Cause the government wants us to die? Why would they want that? Who would pay taxes if we where died?
With Blue Cross they determined the # of specialists - and gave you the approved list-- AND YOU CAN BET THEY ONLY KEPT DOCTORS ON THE LIST WHO DIDN'T COST THEM MUCH!
If u look at the social evolution of humans it is clear that reprsentative gov is the trend, but so is universal healthcare. The Rep party is like the Chinese gov at this point, spitting against the wind.
People there is an awesome book entitled The Healing of America A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper, And Fairer Health Care by T.R. Reid. Would that every American would have a copy of that book and read it.
It's the private insurance companies that turn these kinds of surgeries down not the government!!! The GOP uses bate and switch tactics to protect the private insurance companies and blame the government. It's time the GOP tea party woke up to reality!! It's time for a liberal counter tea party!! If you are a Democrat speak out loud for the public option & give these thugs a dose of their own medicine!
What reality? You mean the reality that this is not about reform but about a complete takeover of healthcare. You mean the reality that liberals know the clock is ticking on Medicare and Medicaid. You mean the reality that this is nothing more than a big power and money grab by the administration.
or maybe it is an honest effort by the current administration to reform the healthcare system, something that economists, doctors, and pretty much every other qualified individual has been saying for decades but never gets done because our government is sucking insurance company's cocks? naah, cant be that. it has to be because obama hates children right?
There's no point in having a healthcare debate anymore. This guy just made one of the best arguments in favor of a public option and healthcare reform and uses it against reform, and his follower agree with what he's saying. In the brain of those against anything Obama even an argument in favor of a public option can be used against healthcare reform, and somehow it makes sense to them.
You are ASSUMING the public option would have paid for this unborn child's surgery. Giving the fact that the party in power has supported murdering over 30 million unborn children, I find that hard to believe.
Joe: Let's assume for sake of argument, that you're right, and the public option would not pay for the unborn child's surgery. This still does not alter the basic inanity of Olsen's argument. Olsen made a case AGAINST private insurance. He was telling a story about one person's terrible experience with private health insurance.
I never said that the public option would not have paid for the surgery. My point is that once go down the road of government controlled healthcare, there won't be specialists who would do this surgery, period.
We still don't know what the public option is going to be, what it is going to cover, and what it is going to cost.
Was this lady trying to get an abortion? Current law allowes women to chose if they want to have a baby or have an abortion but that's not what this is about. Healthcare reform is aiming at ending the practice of private insurers denying coverage to people, like this lady, so.. do the math, she gets coverage, her baby gets coverage, she's denied coverage, the baby doesn't get coverage. Let me ask you this.. were you sent by insurace companies? Why are you defending the abuses made by Insurers?
You admit that YOU (emphasis on YOU) don't know what's going to be covered under a public option, and yet you're arguing that it will be worse than private insurance that RATIONS care.
Insurance companies do not ration care. They only determine what care they will pay for. The federal government does the same thing in Medicare. You can still pay for care yourself. I know that is a "out of the box" concept to some people.
he's an idiot. Of course his child can still get the private specialist even if public option was instated. Wow does he really think people are that stupid to believe him?
Because they're relics of the cold war who believe whatever the fuck their Republican overlords and favorite radio host says about a particular issue.
@Joe402 TAKE YOUR GOVERNMENT HANDS OFF MY MEDICARE!
AWESOME! Awesomely stupid and vile. These Republicans make no sense - and those goes for the people there were buy into it. The guy is right that it wasn't the government that refused care....and some wahoo says, "the government would"...there you go: facts versus fear-mongered hypotheses.
Goes to show just how STUPID most people are. I stopped doing anything with insurance companies except BUYING THEIR STOCK more than seven years ago. They're very profitable, but they stopped selling "insurance" based on underwriting risk pools years and years ago.

She found a doctor who would help. and then he says that public insurance wouldn't have helped at all, which is ridiculous. Americans really need to step up and sort out this nonesense. Try and get Universal Healthcare, if not public option is next best thing. Good luck, from England!

Hey Sparks, thanks for the BUPA reference there. I'll be sure to make use of that knowledge to spread truth to all these sheep.
mokona7 2 years ago
Mokona7 BUPA uses National Healthcare facilities. The issue we have in the UK is not that the National Health Service does not work, because it does for the majority of people. It is the minority, and the minority of specialist cases where it sometimes is a let down. To solve this problem the UK government needs to spend the money allocated for the NHS, on the NHS instead of building Channel Tunnels to France. Then this issue however small could be dealt with properly. Who is Sparks127?

Republicans are like vampires. To kill them for good you have to drive stakes thought their hearts.
The health insurance companies nearly killed this child by denying care. This republican shithead then claims that because the private health insurance companies were nearly responsible for this childs death that the public option would also attempt to throw this child's life away.

National health spending is expected to reach $2.5 trillion in 2009, accounting for 17.6 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP). By 2018, national health care expenditures are expected to reach $4.4 trillion—more than double 2007 spending. (Sitka)

Those are a lot of assumptions to skip over to make the statement that Brittany's son would have died with a public option. Mr. Olson adds nothing to the debate, the 22nd of Texas deserves better...

They have employees whose sole purpose it is to look through a patient's medical history and find anything they can in that history to deny a medical claim so they don't have to pay out money.

To allow freedom to a predator is to deny freedom to his prey.
bundlesjr 2 years ago
So, you would rather have a government monopoly? Consider this. Anything that the government has ever put its hands on has backfired. I believe that as businesses decide that they would rather pay an 8% penalty than provide healthcare options to their employees, those employees will be dumped into the govt. public option plan. Some insurance companies will not be able to handle the loss, and they will fold, which means less competition. Aren't you worried about the trillions in new debt?
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
Well why in countries like France and Canada do you see both privatized insurance and govt. offered, and they have been doing just fine? I've been researching their system, and although it wouldnt benefit healthy people very much, I htink it would go a long way for the rest.
bundlesjr 2 years ago
I have to go to bed, but just a quick comment. I don't know about France, but there is mixed reviews coming from them concerning their health care. If you have been studying it, then I would think that you have come across this. Examples: The satisfaction level changes when it comes to going under the knife. Asked which system would provide access to surgery "as soon as possible," just 32 percent of Canadians opted for their own system: 41 percent answered the American health care system.
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
Also, Two-in-five Canadians (40 percent) answered that they would pay out-of-pocket to have access to health care services in another country if they could, a view shared by just 28 percent of Americans.
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
its positive news that we already have the infrastructure in place for excellent emergency surgery. but there are cost effective and not profitable areas of medicine that need to be included into our system.
jthomp3120 2 years ago
Read some of the comments coming from the Congressional Budget Office. Their figures are disturbing. If this goes through, watch for tax increases across the board. Match those increases up with the energy cost increases if the Cap and Trade bill goes through, and you will be wondering where your pay check has gone every week. Actually, you'll know where it went because you'll see it on your pay stub. Inflation will be akin to the Carter years when I had a 19% interest on my car loan. :(
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
I actually do wonder where my paycheck goes every week. then i see my insurance on there. now i know where all my money is. but i still don't know why my insurance won't cover my medical bills, or why i have to wait for another month and a half to get approved for medicine i need to go back to work. the doctor's office said they wait to approve medicine because people can't afford to miss much work. i went ahead and paid after waiting for 3 months for the injections jsut so i can get back 2 work
underglowe 2 years ago 2
And I disagree with your view on government. I'm all about freedom. Obama is growing the government tremendously. The larger the government gets, the less personal freedoms we have. Government needs to be kept in check. When the constitution was written, they signers were very wary of an overbearing government. Well guess what. We have that today. What will you do when cap & trade increases your electric bill by almost 90% & fuel costs for cars double or more?
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
We will all become totally dependent on government for our needs. That's coercion. The government will do as it pleases because most will be beholden to it, and they would not want to rock the boat. Is that what you want? Less government = more freedom.
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
your first sentence..very true. The government is supposed to be a system made to bring order to society ..nothing more.
greatgaara 2 years ago
A government is set up to provide some very basic services. They are not created to be caretakers. Government needs to be kept in check. They need to run on a budget, just like you and I. I don't agree with your anarchy statement. Less government does not mean that there is no policing. It means spending money wisely, and stopping the ever expanding role of government in our lives. PH "Give me liberty, or give me death".
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
brisbail although govermenment was never designed to take care of us, it was designed to "protect us". This is obviously a very unfair situation.
bundlesjr 2 years ago
I'm not denying that some reform is necessary, but Obamacare is not.

Enough said.
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
When I started doing research on charity, Mr. Brooks wrote, I expected to find that political liberals — who, I believed, genuinely cared more about others than conservatives did — would turn out to be the most privately charitable people. So when my early findings led me to the opposite conclusion, I assumed I had made some sort of technical error. I re-ran analyses. I got new data. Nothing worked. In the end, I had no option but to change my views.

Wake up! BTW, I'm a moderate Democrat.
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
brisbail im not discounting the article. I am actually very interested in the book at the moment. I too would consider myself a mod. dem., however I disagree with your views on government for the simple fact that govt. is not designed to operate like the Wallstreet businesses out here eating up profits everyday. There is no CEO banking millions, no stocks, etc., therefore there is no incentive to take more of our money except to provide services to our own selves.
bundlesjr 2 years ago
Actually, there's a conflict of interest with government. They look a projects and say to themselves "well, we don't have the money for it now, but we can raise taxes to cover it". I know that sounds simplistic, but all I'm trying to say is the the government has never had a problem trying to grab as much money as possible from us. Believe me, I've been screwed royally in the past. I don't mind the idea of taxes. I do mind the idea of govt largesse, greed, ineptness, lies & abuse of power.

These idiots crying out she was turned down by the Insurance Companies are talking out they're rear ends... The Doctors didn't want to take the risk... I guarantee it... It took a specialist to do the surgery...
krenshov 2 years ago
I can't think of any doctor that would tackle a heart transplant in a 17 day old child... No wonder she was turned down by the "free market doctors"... I do believe Congressman Olson didn't quite make this point clear...

The Rescumlicans once again projecting their evil. Rescumlicans=party of money, period. Consistently trying to convince people otherwise, no conscience, no compassion. The Rescumlicans.
willingtorisk 2 years ago
Oh, those evil, evil Republicans. Compassion? I guarantee you that more Republicans attend church, and donate their money (tithe at least 10% of their income) than do Democrats who, as a whole do not attend church services regularly. I bet you that a survey of what people have donated in the past year will show Republicans far exceeding Democrats in generosity. Liberals love to tell others how to spend their money, but when it comes to donations, the lag far behind. That's hypocrisy.

going to church shows you have a mental disorder. i know i speak for the marjority where i live, but for the minority in the states. still, going to church does not make you a better person. i think "childfuckers" says enough.
and your argument is based on pure fiction. you dont know, you have no numbers, yet make this claim. kindly said, thats ridicules.its like saying " i bet if you do a survey the us has the best healthcare system",ridicules.
armatus99 2 years ago
Go read the article. As far as mental orders are concerned, I'm surprised they let you out of the asylum. And no, you don't speak for anyone but yourself, so don't be so deluded, nitwit.
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
Did I say "going to church makes you a better person". All I did was provide some information from an article done by a liberal for the New York Times. I guess the truth hurts a little, doesn't it?
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
so youre saying you are NOT implying that going to church makes you a nobler person?!
because without that your comment makes no sense. rep: go to church aka better people/care more. dems: go less-care not as much. thats what you are implying, and i do not agree.
armatus99 2 years ago 3
Saying you're a good person because you go to church is the same as saying you're a car because you slept in a garage. NEXT!!!

Many of us Democrats don't like the bill either!
brisbailrocks 2 years ago
Well of course it wasn't the government that denied care because Obamascare has not been passed yet. But, if Obamascare had been in place, there is a very good chance that the cost of the operation for the child would have been deemed too expensive, and the child could very well have been denied service. Sarah Palin was right. Death panels, or whatever name those who want to sugarcoat them with, are in the bill. If you are deemed unworthy, then losts of luck getting care.

It would be nice if what he was saying was untrue, unfortunately its not. Read the Bill

The Rep party is like the Chinese gov at this point, spitting against the wind.
poppa1050 2 years ago
When I was with Blue Cross - it was "deny & delay" whenever I needed anything.
Then, as a Vet, I switched to VA.
Now when I need something the doctor orders it & doesn't have to argue w/ THE INSURANCE GUY for weeks.
VA has been so much better - like night & day!

Jacksonholenativ 2 years ago 2
What reality? You mean the reality that this is not about reform but about a complete takeover of healthcare. You mean the reality that liberals know the clock is ticking on Medicare and Medicaid. You mean the reality that this is nothing more than a big power and money grab by the administration.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
or maybe it is an honest effort by the current administration to reform the healthcare system, something that economists, doctors, and pretty much every other qualified individual has been saying for decades but never gets done because our government is sucking insurance company's cocks? naah, cant be that. it has to be because obama hates children right?
ogloosh 2 years ago
There's no point in having a healthcare debate anymore. This guy just made one of the best arguments in favor of a public option and healthcare reform and uses it against reform, and his follower agree with what he's saying. In the brain of those against anything Obama even an argument in favor of a public option can be used against healthcare reform, and somehow it makes sense to them.
oldtownkid 2 years ago
You are ASSUMING the public option would have paid for this unborn child's surgery. Giving the fact that the party in power has supported murdering over 30 million unborn children, I find that hard to believe.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
Joe: Let's assume for sake of argument, that you're right, and the public option would not pay for the unborn child's surgery. This still does not alter the basic inanity of Olsen's argument. Olsen made a case AGAINST private insurance. He was telling a story about one person's terrible experience with private health insurance.
mas57 2 years ago
I never said that the public option would not have paid for the surgery. My point is that once go down the road of government controlled healthcare, there won't be specialists who would do this surgery, period.
We still don't know what the public option is going to be, what it is going to cover, and what it is going to cost.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
Was this lady trying to get an abortion? Current law allowes women to chose if they want to have a baby or have an abortion but that's not what this is about. Healthcare reform is aiming at ending the practice of private insurers denying coverage to people, like this lady, so.. do the math, she gets coverage, her baby gets coverage, she's denied coverage, the baby doesn't get coverage. Let me ask you this.. were you sent by insurace companies? Why are you defending the abuses made by Insurers?
oldtownkid 2 years ago 3
You don't know what is going to be covered under the so-called "public option". We don't even know how it is going to be funded yet.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
You admit that YOU (emphasis on YOU) don't know what's going to be covered under a public option, and yet you're arguing that it will be worse than private insurance that RATIONS care.
blacknosugarnocream 2 years ago 3
Insurance companies do not ration care. They only determine what care they will pay for. The federal government does the same thing in Medicare. You can still pay for care yourself. I know that is a "out of the box" concept to some people.
CommonSenseJoe 2 years ago
he's an idiot. Of course his child can still get the private specialist even if public option was instated. Wow does he really think people are that stupid to believe him?

The history is that Republicans wanted to kill Social Security and Medicare.
The idea that Republicans care about health care is laughable.
Republican Congressman Olson is right-wing douchebag.

Goes to show just how STUPID most people are. I stopped doing anything with insurance companies except BUYING THEIR STOCK more than seven years ago. They're very profitable, but they stopped selling "insurance" based on underwriting risk pools years and years ago.
