I love this scene so much. Rocky's character was simply spoken, carefree, & could read people well... And he saw through Adrian- she didn't feel beautiful about herself at all, after what her mother said to her as a child, & even tells Rocky not to joke when he tells her she is. She wasn't afraid of muscles or brawn or rape; she just doubted herself. Rocky saw that in her & brought her to life. You see this in her character throughout the series. Neither knew how to love someone until now.

Rocky could have had any women he wanted once he got success but he loved Adrian with all his heart,I found it beautiful to see such real love. I love my own Adrian I was fortunate to find the kindest woman I've even met after years of lying,cheating subhuman trolls. I am grateful believe me.

@edgroove7 Yes he did. He stopped her from leaving and intimidated her with his muscles, and kissed her without permission when she wanted to leave. She froze up and when he didn't stop, she went along with it possibly due to fear that he'd get angry.

We have to keep in mind, besides boxing this guy broke legs to earn money, it's possible she had heard about this.

@edgroove7 Eh, depends on how you define feminism, more like equality. Yes, he was being macho, but there can be overlap between macho and going too far. Stopping someone from leaving is that line. His fictitiousness is irrelevant to judging him.

As for her getting into it, that doesn't matter. Getting excited after the fact doesn't mean that was guaranteed. It's also not possible to tell if she was faking it or not. She may have felt pressured to get into it for her safety.

He he, very interesting. The dialogue is removed with no reduction in scene impact. That is possible because the movie had all the elements of real life and because of good acting we understand the subject without many words.

I think this scene was Rocky's creepiest moment. Adrian must have felt really safe in such a familiar, tidy and romantic environment. I'm sure Rocky's sweaty, in-your-face vestiness, had her totally charmed as well.

Ok, you skipped ahead I noticed?...Nice editing but as people with no patience (Americans) we want everything "quick fast and in a hurry" so that is "taking  something away" from the tenderness of what the scene is really all about.

A guy did this I bet (smile)...but that's ok atleast he DID it, which means he "noticed it" which means it touched him in a sensitive way. So I'm good with that. Good goin mate!!

This is one of the most "romantic scenes ever" in a movie. No one really knows that? They name all these romantic movies "of all time" and this never makes the cut, but it is one of THE most sensitive and moving love scenes of all time!

The people that have posted here know that even If their not able to "articulate it"...It's just somethng that I saw as always pure and lovely :)

i completely agree. from the first moment they are on-screen together, you can tell that rocky loves two things in life - being a boxer and adrian...and he can tell she's really shy so he doesn't pressure her, he gives her patience and tenderness, and there's a beautiful restraint in what he does that makes it not only romantic but SO hot because there's such build-up of tension and anticipation

You expressed just what the movie is all about. and YES I thought it was totally "HOT" because when she finally DOES give in you can tell he "brings it out of her" and that it was there all the time (her unbridles passion) so yes one of THE best love scenes of all time :)
