Was Potter really shoving him though? Difficult to see but it doesn't look like he was trying to harrass Koivu even further. Maybe just a supportive nudge? (I don't know and I'm not trying to excuse him if he was as I'm no fan of Edmonton) We all know some pretty scary things have happened in these types of situations. No NHL player would take pleasure in seeing someone get sliced open or try to injure them even further... It's not soccer.
Funny how Heatley's the one who dives down and gets up gingerly while Captain Koivu almost gets his throat cut and doesn't miss a step. Gotta love how tough Finns are, true hockey players by nature. Now get rid of that little bitch Heatley.
Major props to Koivu, still finished the play after he got sliced...so glad that it only caught him on the chin, though, that looked too similar to the Zednik incident.
may i point out that shawn horcoffs stick seems like its very much being forced into heatleys left leg, im not exactly a heatley fan and he might even be a guy whos known for embellishment but it seems like he felt the stick on his left leg, tried to balance it out by getting his right leg ahead (which he had to do since his body was leaning forward) and in that process horcoff raised his left leg from the ground by not letting go while his right leg was already up in the air
@NHLArchive just as much a possibility of course, but the pressure from horcoffs stick seems evident to me so its by far not as laughable as some other dives á la crosby or kovalev where reviews from dozens of angles show you that absolutely nothing shouldve happened. whether it was a dive or not, the skateblade hitting koivu in the face is bad luck either way. and in essence a puck at up to 100mph can do at least as much damage by accident and we still have players out there without visors
@desentizised he really didn't apply much pressure in my opinion. he may very well have tripped, but the point is he embellished it by flopping, which led to an injury.
@mbd303030 to be honest i dont see THAT much embellishment but i guess thats up for debate. i only see his left leg kicking up which could just as much be a result from horcoffs stick raising it skywards.

What a jerkoff Potter is for trying to mess with Mike Koivu as he goes to the bench, clearly bloodied.

I wonder how that player from Edmonton could be so disrespectful that he would shove koivu on his way to the bench.

As a Finnish person I'm proud to see Koivu finishing the game situation and not skating to the benck immediately.

Koivu showed some heart there. NO fault to Heatley he was trying to make something happen. Koivu would never blame him for this.

he is fuckin lucky no jugular cut there

I've always wondered, in these skate incidents, if the players could actually control their legs better than it looks like they do.

@desentizised it looks to me like heatley felt the stick and dove, then he lays there afterwards trying to milk it
