did anyone checkout the tracks of the new misfits album? it doesn't even have a fresh sound to it. hell graves era is way better than the trash jerry is marketing. I loved what graves did with them but c'mon jerry! you have been in the band since the beginning you would think he would understand what the fans like?
Graves did good with misfits but eventually he left because he realized Jerry Only is a mooch and can't do anything musically by himself. He rode Danzig's coattails so he could sell t shirts stickers and backpacks to every teenager in high school. All the misfits are to him is income, nothing more. Nothing to do with the fans at all.

This version was performed better than the original Horror Business, but I still like the original better. It had more of a DIY punk sound than this version. I agree that the Misfits aren't the same without Danzig, but they wouldn't be the same even if he was there now. After Samhain, he was never going to go back to what he did in the Misfits.

True but Maiden on those first two albums was a totally different beast. They wore black leather and were pure metal with punk influences. Then they started wearing rainbow spandex on stage. I love all Maiden but the first two albums hold a special place in my heart...so raw and dirty.

Because Glenn was The Misfits. He wrote the songs, sang, did the artwork, did overdubbs etc. So when he said that he wanted HIS band to end, they should have fucking respected that. If they wouldn't have called themselves Misfits, I would be perfectly OK with them, but the stuff they play(ed) just doesn't sound like the fucking Misfits. I'm ashamed nowadays to wear a Misfits-T-shirt, 'cause I don't want to promote the "band" they are right now, so I'm going with my Samhain-Tee.
i actually think graves is pretty talented, but i agree with you. the way jerry has managed the band, he's turned it into some sort of emo kiss (in terms of merch, again the music's alright, just not misfits). i go with my danzig t-shirt.

Well, in some places they did help, but every other descent guitar/bass/drum player could have done that. Jerry just was at the right spot at the right time. He did pay for some stuff they did but the band mostly financed itself. And the other guys... they had a lot of guitar and drum players, that shows that Glenn just needed them as a live band. On the record he overdubbed a lot of the stuff the other guys recorded 'cause it wasn't good enough.
@w1o5w6 The only Misfit their is really Jerry only. Robo was pretty much a temp drummer. And incase you didnt hear Robo may not be with the current Misfits lineup much longer.

This version was performed better than the original Horror Business, but I still like the original better. It had more of a DIY punk sound than this version. I agree that the Misfits aren't the same without Danzig, but they wouldn't be the same even if he was there now. After Samhain, he was never going to go back to what he did in the Misfits.

The only band who survived a change of frontmen is "The Vandals." The Misfits were done the second Danzig said "This is our last show." Graves is a joke. They should have made a new band instead of using an old one for the sake of promotion.

True but Maiden on those first two albums was a totally different beast. They wore black leather and were pure metal with punk influences. Then they started wearing rainbow spandex on stage. I love all Maiden but the first two albums hold a special place in my heart...so raw and dirty.

Because Glenn was The Misfits. He wrote the songs, sang, did the artwork, did overdubbs etc. So when he said that he wanted HIS band to end, they should have fucking respected that. If they wouldn't have called themselves Misfits, I would be perfectly OK with them, but the stuff they play(ed) just doesn't sound like the fucking Misfits. I'm ashamed nowadays to wear a Misfits-T-shirt, 'cause I don't want to promote the "band" they are right now, so I'm going with my Samhain-Tee.

Well, in some places they did help, but every other descent guitar/bass/drum player could have done that. Jerry just was at the right spot at the right time. He did pay for some stuff they did but the band mostly financed itself. And the other guys... they had a lot of guitar and drum players, that shows that Glenn just needed them as a live band. On the record he overdubbed a lot of the stuff the other guys recorded 'cause it wasn't good enough.

@w1o5w6 the misfits were formed by danzig, it was his band to do with as he wanted. jerry wasnt even an original member of the band. glenn did most of the work promoting his band, all jerry and robo and the various guitar players did was back up glenn at the live gigs. jerrys misfits are just an overglorified tribute band milking a dead cow

I agree, but Misfits and Misfits 96 are in my mind very different bands. So who cares who is better, in my mind it is like comparing the The Clash to Joe strummer and the mescaleros. Who gives a shit, it is not the same band. Who is better Guns n roses (old version of course) or velvet revolver? The fact that Doyle and Jerry used the misfits name does not mean that it is the same band.

i think that samhain and misfits sound very similar but samhain is darker than the misfits, the misfits have a more fun kind of sound and samhain has the darker sound. both are really good non the less!

danzig didn't necessarily always want to sound like this! glenn was always the main force in the misfits (he wrote everything) and the misfits sounded the way he wanted them to sound until the end where he wanted something different! listen to static age, this is nothing like that! personally i think danzigs best days were with the misfits by far, but i love samhain and danzig as well! i even like all the heavier danzig shit at the end like danzig 7 and 8! danzig 7 was fuckin awesome!
