@SuperMetalmetallica It's a pinch harmonic with your right hand. I hold the pick very thin and then roll my thumb to lightly touch the string close to the neck pickup directly after picking it and it will pull out that harmonic of the string. It takes a little practice but it's not that hard to do. To raise or lower the harmonic pitch you simply move your right hand up or down the string to pull out different harmonics as needed. Have fun and thanks for watching!
@RadicalZelinsky the key to the tone is using a good phase shifter, i use the EVH Phase 90. Another key is playing the notes with harmonic tones by lightly using your thumb to catch the harmonics. Vibrato is also key. Have fun.
What i would really like to know is how you set your camera up for that "down the neck" shot. I have always like that since i watched kent carlevi and i was wondering how you set your camera up on the headstock of the guitar and what camera you used
@nigrigged I used a Sony AVCHD handycam with the power cord and the battery off the camera (less weight). I used a simple L bracket that I padded to protect the headstock and clamped it to the headstock. it was still very heavy, you can see that I had to hold the guitar kind of in an awkward way just so I could use that cam. I too loved how it looked on Kent Carievi's vids and obviously thats how I got the idea. Very hard to play that way! Working on an Iphone4 setup so it's not so heavy.
@Littlewing1213 Ron Jon Rocks dude! I bought a short board from them several years back and I always find 5 or 6 shirts i need. :) Canada surfing sounds cold!
@Karlitox23 Thank You! Not sure what note you are referring too but the harmonic squeals are pinch harmonics I pull off by choking up on the pick and letting my thumb tap the harmonic out of the note. No amp.......going from Tonelab ST into my computer. Thanks for watching :)
@ltq19900310 No, it doesn't need any more details, this is perfect. No bullshit talking, just straight to the point. It's just a little more of an advanced lesson. If you need more explanation then keep practicing or look for another lesson that explains everything for you.
@Sk8bordr125 ...I have only tab'd the ending part since the rest is pretty easy to follow on the slow portion of the lesson video. The link to the download is in the description.
that's an awesome video! I've been playing the high pinch at the 17th high e, instead of pinching, that'll actually save me some time, thanks for the vid!
Thanks for the question. I used the MXR Phase 90 (EVH) into the VOX Tonelab ST direct into my PC. The Phase you are hearing is directly from the MXR ....One of my favorite pedals.
oh..i am not that guy but i think its a squalie..search Pinch Harmonics or Squalies..i play guitar for 2.5 years..i can do that trick but be careful..it may think easy but it needs SOOOOO much practise..i dont wanna scare you but ok.. anyway..if u wanna ANYTHING else like EVERYTHING just post to my channel or reply me..thanks :)
If you're talking about the High pitched squeal then Des60s is correct. It's a pinch harmonic and you have to basically touch the string lightly just after you pick it at a harmonic position over the pickups. I hold my pick close and roll to do the harmonic with my thumb.
If you are talking about that sound right at 1:14 then its just 2 strings ringing at the same time and you are simply hammering on the lower note (9th fret D string) with your 2nd finger while holding the higher note (8th fret G string) with your 1st finger. I will put together a tab for this as soon as i can get some time. Thanks for the comment and i hope this helps.
thanks guys !! yes djohnson i was looking for the pinch harmonic, i tried to do it but it comes out only when I get lucky ! needs a lot of practice and skill i guess.
