Are there any classes for sign spinning in Northern Oregon or the Portland Metro area? I just got hired yesterday at Great Clips and now I get payed 10 dollars an hour to dress as a shampoo bottle and make a fool out of myself and I want to actually have fun doing it.

Just like aquatic lifeguarding, cosmetology, medical billing, real-estate, or babysitting (which may include CPR or Red Cross caretaker certification), training is proprietary. However, many of those in pursuit of longer, more drawn -out careers, such as law, healthcare, or (gee, what do you know?!!) MARKETING find such jobs useful.

Before people talk down at what these guys do, put yourself out there and try to do what they do. Most would ask, "Why would I?" My answer, YOU JUST CAN'T. @HospitalMusic LOL ok, u've got a point, but most of those signs, despite the pointed edge, don't seem to indicate that "arrowhead" angle as a directional signal. Judging from multiple videos together, it seems that the angle is there to enable the spinner to do specialized tricks.

I pause at the right time, catch my sign right side up (sounds easy, but trust me- it takes practice), and pay attention to the traffic so that people can see the message I am conveying before the light changes. Yeah... I only make $11 an hour, but I'm dancing and listening to my iPod on the streets of Hollywood and I'm having a blast! :D
