If you're just an Herbalife customer, then rock out! However, if you're looking to earn extra income from this company, I'd think twice before joining. I know, from experience, that you'd be lucky to earn 500 a month, if even that, because you have to pay all the shipping and tax expenses for your customers, and you don't profit much. But here's the funny thing: you can get people to become distributors all day long, and buy inventory, too. Hey, this IS a scary concept. Imagine it... YOU are your own company. Of course it is hard to go through with. But this is what a lot of people do for the living. Way more people than you can possibly imagine actually.

Open up a restaurant. What do you need? How do you make it work? It is insanely hard, costly at first, and can ruin you if you fail. Keep this in mind, but know that it CAN work, and Herbalife makes it easier than it would be to open a restaurant, and less risky.

One thing you didn't mention about Herbalife's requirement of 2,500 volume points a month to qualify for commission is that it's contributed to by a distributor's downline...it doesn't have to be personally purchased. If a distributor is at the career level to be getting commission, then all of that volume is being purchased at 50% off, and he probably has enough downline to hit the 2,500 with no problem. We couldn't have become the largest nutrition company in the world if we were a scam.

Go in with an open mind. Take the opportunity to ask many questions and educate yourself. As I have said it's not that Herbalife is a bad company or that they have bad products particularly. It's the fact that they make it extremely difficult to make a true walk away income with their compensation plan and volume requirements. Some companies flourish the larger they get and some just loose touch.

Herbalife has some outstanding products that have helped thousands. I am commenting on those that join to build a business. Over 97% that join never make their initial investment back.

This usually occurs in the manufacturing of synthetic/chemically based minerals&vitamins (which Herbalife uses).Typically when the process is either rushed or inferior ingredients are used. I am not in any way implying this is what Herbalife has done. Just stating the facts when this occurs in ANY products of this nature.The knock I have is again with the comp and org structure. Only 3% of Herbalife reps are financially independent.

Oh btw, I listened to a herbalife call on youtube today. The host of a famous german comedy show called the representative of herbalife germany.

The host said that the product didn't work for him and asked if he could get the money back. The rep told him "NO, if I would do that, I had to send thousends of ppl their money back".

After some back and forth the representative threatened the host to hunt him down and kill him.

What a happy company.

Thanks Scott, your comments have certainly caused me to re-think my options and I'll be exploring your site for further information. It's really hard trying to find honest info about home businesses and it can be daunting not knowing whether you are falling for a scam.
