  • Seeing this has raised my respect for Gordon Brown.

  • I'm not really in to politics it seems Gordon Brown really cared about Britain and the economy.

  • Because of What Lib dems and Conservatives are in and they cutting everything they can get there hands on, Labour Will return in 2015:) We will make an fair and Stronger Brtiain, Things Can only Get Better!

  • Im pretty sure the tories know you can use economic growth to tackle the recession, but pinning blame on Labour for national debt is just an excuse to make dramatic cuts, which are so part of the Tory ideals, to reduce the size of government regardless of the existence of recession. The dramatic cuts are then apparently justified by the recession, when it is really just an excuse to implement unpopular tory policy.

  • Intelligence, integrity and moral courage have been defeated by cynicism, self interest and deceit. The posh boys will pursue their vile agenda, and my country will suffer for it. I fear for our future.

  • What a shame GB & Labour lost. We've got tweedledum & tweedledee instead.

I wonder who'll really be doing the Chancellor of the Exchequer's job. It won't be Geo. Osborne........not nearly bright enough - more of a featherweight than a lightweight ! Probably a couple of Treasury officials.........

  • the stupid thing is, he's right - you have to grow your way out of it - but that's now what he's just fought (and lost) the election on

  • but he's just proposed cuts like the rest of them

no mention of the uberrich putting their hands in their ample pockets though

the rich caused the crisis, they can pay for it

  • Well, well, well.

Brace yourself Britain, looks like Thatcher Jr. is going to No. 10!

Let's hope that there will be a few by-elections where this voting sham has gone off - might alter a few marginals!

As for Labour - please get your act together. Put New Labour behind you, put True Labour ahead of you. It's time for Labour to once again become a pre-Blair party of the people!

  • LABOUR AND GORDON ALLLLL THE WAYYY! cummonnnnnn people see the light!

  • Gordon Brown doesn't have the style and glam of Cameron but he has substance and he gives the impression of someone who fights tooth and nail for his country, that's why I will be voting Labour tomorrow

  • im scared that the tories might win :(

  • hes got my vote

  • Gordon Brown - Substance over style ;)

  • he is a very clever man. if i can vote, i will vote for him.

  • how come i cannot write what i would like to? i love labour

  • Gordon Brown, LEGEND

  • Vote for Conservative vote for ruining the Britain and return back to Margaret Thatche's dark period.

  • keep the printing presses running

  • @ 2:24 all i keep thinking is where's the canned laughter.

  • You live in fairy land. The crisis here is as a direct result of your actions as chancellor. De-regulation of the Banks and the give away of our gold reserves. You were a talentless chancellor and a worse PM and you have always been to scared to get a mandate from the people. For all Blairs faults he always gave the people the chance to have their say first. We are not out of recession. You have bought this country to the brink of financial ruin to give youself the best chance of re-election.

  • So we can't allow people to keep their money and spend it profitably, we have to give it to government to be spent without consideration of yield?

Ever heard of the 'Treasury View'-it's right, insofar as it criticises tax and spend, though it doesn't go far enough, any displacement of capital has a great opportunity cost. This man's view of government's place in civilisation is as one of a driver to direct people's innovation, but taxes and tariffs destroy, they don't create. NO TO COLLECTIVISM

  • Whilst I strongly disagree with some Labour policies, my impression is that Mr Brown has more conviction than Mr Cameron.

At present, my vote will be for Mr Clegg.

  • I am glad that it is not with the tories

  • Gordon Brown is a great man! substance is what I look for in a politician and he has the most substance. He is pragmatic and a real world thinker. No flash just Gordon

  • The recession was an international disaster. It was inevitable, and nothing the government can do could possibly prevent it. What we must do is grow our way out of it, and use it for good.

  • Thanks to Labour, Britain has now come out of recession. This is why I support Labour; they alone have the ability to tackle this disaster and come out fighting!

  • Labour is the only way forward, for get the propaganda of the tories. History will judge Gordon Brown as a great man for Britain in a tough time created by a globalised world.

The Tories will have you believe that Britains recession is labour made, issolated to britain and the complete making of Labour.

Britain is suffering from a decline due to extreme credit triggered in the USA, the product of the world. Our recession is deeper because the tories have created an economy around finance 1980

  • @MrFENDERstratLOVER

I must disagree: most nations, including Britain, contributed to the debt crisis through central banking and credit expansion, although America, thanks to Greenspan and Bernanke, deserves more blame. But that's not the point. Our economy has been one big bubble thanks to the fraud of central banking keeping interest rates low, using inflation as apparent capital, thereby inducing the capital structure to be more roundabout WITHOUT increase in capital; thus unsustainable.

  • I've totaly lost faith in any of this since the expenses scandal. If they can prove that things like that won't happen again, then I will start to put my belief back in politicians

  • I agree Vote Labour Gordon Brown is the best Prime Minister for this country

  • If i could vote I would vote for Brown. He seems like the right person for the job, Cameron thinks he has got it in the bag, well if things keep going like this I think there could be a satisfying upset, lets hope.

  • im voting for Brown. I trust him more than Cameron who i think is insincere, smug and does not have the right level of experience to take over this country.

    Vote Labour

  • lol Cameron's just a boy in a suit. I hope he loses

  • Well, I'm voting for Brown. He may have made mistakes in the past, but he's got the right idea about growth. Didn't someone say that:

"The Worst Labour Government is still better than the Best Conservative Government"?

  • I agree

  • Conviction polititian - substance, sincere, genuine, intelect, drive and determination and the right man for the job.

    Will get my vote anyday.

  • I'm voting for brown because a) He's the only grown-up on the menu, and b) he's most likely has the most seniority matters of finance

  • absolutely the guy knows what he,s talkin about when it comes to finance there is nobody better to get us out of this mess, and also the thought of the tories gettin back in is scary, the gap between rich and poor will be tenfold and will end with strikes everywhere and will a throwback to the thatcher years and if that dont scare us into supporting labour i dont know what will. at the end of the day what the tory government did to us in the past they should never be given power again. EVER

  • My first ever vote this year :) and it will be going to labour

  • Seconded.

  • Gordon, where's your support for co-operative banking? Why, during the "boom" did you not encourage people to move their money out of corrupt private banking and into credit unions and co-ops, with ethical investment charters and no parasitic external shareholders to remove purchasing power from the system?

    FAIL!

  • How can he be blamed for the banking crisis? It was the banks fault for not doing their homework, providing money to those who could not pay it back.

    What are the other alternatives?

Nick Clegg who the hell is he? Cameron the barber (cuts) or Brown who knows what he is doing. He is not walking away he is staying a keeping control

  • I think Britain is so lucky to have Gordon Brown as Prime Minister, especially during the recession. I am a huge suppourter of the party and him.

  • As a british citizen i beg to differ, i so very BEG to differ.

  • This is a man who has common sense unlike cameron. A whole generation of tax payers (government finance) was lost to last reccesion because of spending cuts, for the 2 years after recession we should be making sure it doesn't happen again. Then we should make efficency gains.

People need to realise the state of the country's finances aren't just down to the labour party's spending, but mainly down to the fact we lost a generation of tax payers in the last recession.

  • Gordon Brown is a conviction pollitition who is true to his believes and has a clear vision to acheive his goals, he has the right experience to get us through the recession and I believe that he is the right man for the job.

  • A great Prime minister.

Real conviction and a sense of purpose.

  • Experience, knowledge and substance makes Gordon Brown the prime minister this country needs.

    Vote Labour

  • I shall be

  • Personally, I'm not Gordon Brown's biggest fan, but he is right when he says growth is needed to get out of recession. David Cameron is right about cutting public spending to get us out of debt, but that's no good if the economy stops dead in its tracks, which is what happens if you cut spending in a recession. It's the same mistake as the one made in the Great Depression, where people were too scared to spend because of debt. Because of this, my vote is with Gordon Brown ... for now, anyway.

  • He is correct when he says this is different from the last recession. People had to sell homes, had to live on the streets in the last one. Now? Brown seems to be doing a good job. The country hasn't fallen completely apart. Cameron wants these cuts, then we can say goodbye to the NHS, to the standard of education we enjoy. We must spend it now, we can repay when we are riding high again. For the moment we must keep this country going. Come on brown, come on labour.

  • President Johnson once advised voters, "You shouldn't just vote your fears; you shouldn't just vote your hates; you should vote your hopes."

Thatcher's idea was to slash public sector jobs, sell off or close public sector depts/business, and save money on an annual basis. A whole generation has never recovered.

Other countries such as Germany and Japan kept spending and keeping jobs during the 80s, and they eventually recovered. Let's give Brown a chance to do likewise.

  • i completely agree, cameron's plan to cut out of this recession (which is i heard, is the only major political party in the world's plan to get out of this recession) would be disastrous, i hope his words words "tax cuts" wont persuade impressionable voters to vote tory

  • What planet is this man living on. The national debt is heading up to £1 trillion which is pretty much the point of no return. Whichever government gets in will have to cut spending. For once in your life be honest with people. - every country or individual has to live within its means.

  • we do still need a referndum on the lisbon treaty

  • oh jeez

  • why dont labour/government give people business grants to start their own business, since a lot of people are ganna lose their jobs

  • They do, for the 18-30 year olds, i agree it needs to be a national thing.

  • Gordon's a good guy. Son of a minister. Cameron's a PR guy. Vote labour, or screw the NHS.

  • Screw the NHS!

  • Well said, very true, messing up the NHS is a Tory trademark

  • I think Gordon's heart is in the right place and he wants the best for the country and he does get a lot of unfair stick.

He is actually a man of real substance.

  • Precisely my opinion. I think he is more than capable and actually has the correct perspective to be a very god prime minister. Unfortunately there is a lot of unfair unsubstantiated press which the general public believe without thinking. He is the most sincere prime minister we have had of late. Compared to Blair and Cameron he is much more honest and sincere.

  • After this Labour had better put restrictions on what banks can do.

  • Abolish Central Banks! Privatize money!

  • YES labour!!!

  • I think Gordon is by far the STRONGEST PM the UK ever had. Despite all the criticism from opposition parties who have no policies to offer this country, only slurs for those actually taking action to see people through the global economic problem. Most other leaders would have caved in with the media pressure, etc. I like the fact Gordon isn't glossed over like most mps, ie pretentious Cameron. He is loyal to his party & the only candidate who talks about tackling the serious issues that matter!

  • They are not seeing me through this recession I am almost bankrupt. Labour have destroyed my industry. Helping people? Lol. Call an election.

  • never a true word.

  • Thank god it's Labour taking us through this recession. Nobody is supporting the Tories "do-nothing approach". Public spending cuts couldn't come at a worse possible time Mr.Cameron!

  • Labour got us into this mess in the first place - no encouragement to save, spending taxpayers money recklessly and encouraging really poor education in schools.

  • here here!

  • nice vid

  • By far i think this is one of the best election broadcasts. People need to look at the past and the future, In the past we have had downturns and the government have left the people to go poor i think this proves that labour would be best for the future of britain. There are alot of underlying things that labour do to help this country that people over look that just focus on the negatives.

PS. I never used to support labour untill recently and i am not trying to make them sound good.

  • i gota say i agree with Gordon 100% on this.

kidlewis, considering this is the worst recession ever we seem to be doing okay so far?! If we had Thatcher/Major/Cameroon we wud b cutting & leaving huge sections of society vulnerable for the next decade to come. We r still feeling the effects of Thatcher today. Like anyone does when they take out a mortgage - borrow today & then pay it off when the good times come back around.

It makes sense and it's good for everyone.

  • The late Barbara Castle introduced pensions related to earnings, years later Thatcher disbanded it.Why has the Labour Party not reinststed it.

  • Labour ARE reinstating it. It takes time.

  • you have to cut and invest I'm afraid, it's a difficult balance but councils all around the country will need to do so to no incur massive defecits.

  • how do you invest your way out of recession when you have nothing to invest with other than borrowed money? It doesn't make sense. It's a valid point to invest out of recession, but we have no money to do so. I would like to spend my way out of my mortgage but I am not stupid enough to borrow money to pay off more borrowing. It's majorly flawed logic.

  • nice point, I wish we could chalenge this spending or at least make sure it dosn't just go into repeting past mistakes.

  • the point is to get us more jobs so we then have money to spend, it's a gamble i agree, but labour is one of the few parties looking at this on a global scale, we are part of a global economy reliant on so much. No other party has a leader that knows the economy better in my opinion, disagree. It's only because he is a leader placed in at a tough time, a mess left by Blair and even Thatcher as well as leaders such a Bush which effect the UK immensely. In my opinion better the devil you know.

  • I am unsure whether to vote Labour. The Lib Dems are my other choice.. either party would do me really. I have faith in Gordon Brown, I just don't want the BNP to have a chance to get in.

    SAY NO TO THE BNP

Comprised of policys and people to do with Homophobia, Racial Discrimination, this Hitler-style ideology will only bring our country to chaos and to our knees. Vote NO to the BNP

  • I don't envy Gordon Brown his job at the moment, but I will certainly be voting Labour next general election. Do Cameron and the rest of the self-serving Eton Clique have any better ideas? I think not.

  • Well said

  • here here

  • I'm glad it's Labour taking us through these difficult economic times, not the do-nothing Tories

  • This makes me positive about our future, especially his comments on jobs for students etc.

    xxx

  • We certainly have the right man in the right place at the right time.

  • I'll be voting Labour on June 4th.

  • This is great, exactly why people should remain 100% behind Labour. When time are tough Labour sticks to its core values and wants to invest in the people of Britain and cut taxes for hard pressed families. The Tories simply pledge to cut investment in schools, hospitals and all public services. Labour knows what matters.

  • Gordon Brown is correct and I certainly have more confidence in him and the New Labour Party than the cut cut cut Tories. How could anybody discard his experience for David Cameron? Or even Nick Clegg?

  • Labour has failed, can't wait till the next election.

  • How exactly has Labour failed? Mistakes yes. Failure no. After three terms you expect mistakes, but the good outweighs the bad. The Tories have no chance of creating a prosperous Britain with a "do nothing" plan! They have proposed cuts in public spending in order to save money, meaning less jobs for anyone in the public sector. Vote Conservative or even Liberal at your and your countries peril. Labour are the reason for a stronger fairer working class, and even a better deal for students.

  • yeah they're only human

  • This is excellent! This is how it should be done GB! Show 'em what you got!

  • whats the song in the background......?

  • Gordon Brown is the right man for the job. Thank god it's Labour taking us though the recession, not the do nothing Tories.

  • A party who actually knows what is going on and how to solve the issues.People just care about the emotion based stories, and focus on his personality, rather than focusing on the brilliant action that has been taken from the party who has seen Britain grow economically for the longest period in its history, rising through the ranks and overtaking france becoming the fifth largest economy in the world. Crime down, people in education up, spending on NHS up, living standards up.

  • true

  • i presume you believe everything you read in the mail...

  • Haha. "Green manufacturing" - cut to beautiful landscape completely ruined by windfarms.

Someone tell the politicians that you don't need to emit CO2 to be a pollutant.

  • Can we post comments on here?

  • no i dont think so

  • yeah we defiantly cant

  • I read the headline for this today in the Metro and i must say i was expecting something a lot different - what a biased puff piece article that was - i didn't see anything wrong with the video or his smile really. It was well paced, some nice shots and it didn't drag and he didn't come across anything like what they were saying,... i think i smell biased Journalism at the Metro ...

  • _______________________Vote Labour_____________!

They Are The only party That Has the Right Plans to save us.

David cameron and the conservatives are disorganised and uncaring. If they were to come to power, then we would be back to where we started, Conservatives have no idea on how to save the economy, their plans are popostorous and their Care for the people of Britain Is SLim.

If you wan't the economy to get better, you're savings to be safe, to have a better country:

    THEN VOTE LABOUR!

  • Atleast he's doing something.

  • Good video. Good points.

  • lol @ Crash Gordon

  • Yeah, but where do you get the money, Gordon? By borrowing it from the economy that's where! Young people like me are going to be paying it off for the rest of our life, while the public sector continues to waste money that would be more efficiently spent in the private sector.

Wonder how long it takes you to delete this comment.

  • I was considering voting Conservative at the next election, but their policy of cuts is so completely idiotic that I will definitely vote Labour now. As my savings aren't getting interest I'm hoping to invest in a house extension. If others take the same attitude, more builders will be in work, more electricians, more plumbers, an d this will have a knock-on effect ... the way out of recession is for those of us with savings to invest in our country.

  • thank god for labour. i dread to think what would have happened if the toris had been in power over the last few years.

"Labours plans for minimum wages, the Social Chapter and large increases in spending and taxes would send unemployment straight back up."

The Chronicle (Stafford), 21 February 1996

    abolish minimum wage then? hmm.

  • he has my vote. he actually has policies.

  • I too will be voting Labour. We do need to grow out of the recession.

Vote Labour at the next General Election and at the European Elections.

  • Gordon Brown will get my vote.

Now is not the time for a "novice" and Gordon has the experience to remain as Prime Minister.

  • I think you mean: Gordon Brown is the man who, as Chancellor for 10 years, should have seen the recession coming and "fixed the roof while the sun was shining", but didn't.

  • Its great that your helping homeowners but what about tennant paying higher rents, dont they count?

    And what about savers ?

  • Indeed he is the unelected PM with no mandate - give us a break and let has have a vote now!

  • Learn how the British Parliamentary system works, please.

  • Couldn't agree more, Gordon is the man, the man we need at such a difficult time to make the tough decisions and help Britain grow out of this recession.

  • How come he is allowing comments on this video?

  • How about investing in new public infrastructure, rather than simply creating jobs for the sake of keeping people employed. Lets see some real public spending, not cowtowing to the small government lobby, but new transport links to all our major cities. Make businesses eager and able to locate all around the UK, not just in London, and maybe Labour can bring a sustained recovery that the rest of the UK has long needed. Financial services must not be allowed to be our only growth sector.

  • Where is Gordon walking to in the "Garden Scene" at the end?

  • Probably garden at no. 10

  • He has done it. Mastered a youtube video, with a genuine smile. Go Gordon, You have my vote.

  • YouTube if you want to, the man is not for turning!

Obama and Brown have more in common than Cameron and Obama. Brown tries to save the country, Cameron tries to save the pockets of his voters.

  • Go Gordon!

  • Very impressed!

Allot of people don't realise just how important the next General Election will be, and how much it will their vote will transform their lives.

We have a clear choice- Labour, with the policies of social equality and fairness, growing our way out of this economic downturn.

Or the Conservatives, who propose cuts and have voted down equality legislation for the past 12 years.

Check the record, check the values, check the future

    Check your vote!

Vote Labour at the General Election

  • labour don't stand in my constituency! which of the northern irish parties do they support?

  • Completely unconvincing - the funds still need to come from somewhere, Gordon.

  • Gordon Brown is the man :)
