I remembered my aunt told the experience she hd when the japanese occupation in Malaya.. It was everyone nightmare.. Her neighbours mostly chinese guys were being tortured inhumanely by the japs.. She even described what she saw.. They were being forced to drink soap water with hairs and whipped violently.. Some can't make it.. Some girls were also on the list to served the japs..
It a good S'pore made movie so far ,much memories faded with Great World !!! I don't understand why it must ended and touch on the Japanese occupation issue !!!! Mix feeling laaaaaaa :) Still thumb up for all the old and new actor ,actress and director .
So touching at the last part even tough te Actor Chen Shu Cheng never order the best meal but the restaurant gave him alot of goodies almost called the last 'wedding' so the restaurant gave them a splendid meal so touching feel like crying.The only thing I hate is the Japenes conquring Singapore.
Wait at around 0:36:20 the tv show was from 1965 but after one year that guy should not even be in the army as singapore was first anounce National service in 1967.
@ranger0504 Ever heard of "tahn jia peng, jia liao bee"? Regular soldiers. There were already 2 infantry battalions, 1SIR & 2SIR, when we were booted out of Mudlaysia.
@ranger0504 It shows that you are either a foreigner or an ignoramus. We call Malaysia Matland/Matlaysia or Mudland/Mudlaysia. A Mudlaysian is a Malaysian. Singaporeans are called Sinkees or slaves (courtesy of the gabramen) or dafts (courtesy of the Old Senile). The FTs are called Foreign Trash or Fallen Trash. If you are a sinkee, then I believe you are either a chabor or haven't served NS since you do not know what is tahn jia peng or regular soldier.
Great & brilliant touching recap of the past... liked esp. the "tahn chway-chway lwee", "See Pay Hoh" expression and also the Baboon "khah Chng" quip.hahaaa and many more quaint expressions that blended into Mandarin like "Woh Aii Nee" and Cantonese to Hainanese dialects which I can't recall much now...:( But this did bring back tears too with Rose singing at Flamingo... I very much enjoyed the hour long video... a pearl of the past....:)

@joo6769 No never heard off.

@ranger0504 Moreover, the guy's from Air Hitam, i.e., he is Mudlaysian, so he can't obviously be called up for NS. Hence, he is tahn jia peng.

@joo6769 What the hell is mudlaysian? I know what is malaysian.

Hi,
Thanks so much for uploading the movie.
Really appreciate your effort and time.
I am working abroad and watching the home produced movies has been a past time for me, to keep in touch with my roots.
Been to Great World when I was young, with my parents and younger brother.
Couldn't remember much but the only thing that strike me was one of the rides.
Went into the capsule, it ascent to the air and spin around, that was all I could recall as I was only a boy.
Time flies, i am 45 now - - - -
