lol.. Yes, I would have to say, that this is my Favorite song from "this Album"...But the Lyrics for this song are Crazy. ! (Why they called it little guitars,, Who knows )?
@ziggy72170 In concert Eddie would bring out his "Little Guitar" and play the shit out of this song. For those too young to remember this tour, he had a replica of his signature red & white guitar down to half the size. Great stuff seeing Eddie wail with what looked like a ukulele!
I blame Van Halen for my marijuana addiction, the first time I ever got stoned WACF was cranked full blast on my buddies old technics turntable hooked into an amp, I never stood a chance.
Tattoo isn't a bad song. If that song was released in 1984 nobody would have thought anything of it. They are playing classic rock, except that the music isn't old enough to be considered classic yet. What, did everyone think the new album from the hard rockin' Van Halen was going to sound like today's hard rock bands? It is an older style of music. I enjoy it. Am I expecting them to sound... Older? Yes. They ARE older. But that doesn't mean they don't have anything left to offer. Go Eddie.
@JoelDMRY5150 from what iv'e heard they do have that kinda appeal..these songs on the new album where wrote back in the Roth era and were never released..with that being said i did kinda like tattoo at first but now i'm a lil burnt out on that one
@sexpistolsdz I'm aware He's from the Netherlands. He also was clearly influenced by the california music scene. As they developed their sound, they added to and created a new sound thats not from the Netherlands.
I'm going to see to these guys on February 28th at Madison Square Garden. :)
I was born in '82 so I'm 28 and this is my FIRST VH concert. People are telling me how they "suck now" & how much better they were "in the '80s." That's not fair.
Why do people have to ruin it? If you miss the "old" VH so much, why don't you get in your f*cking Delorian & go back & relive those days, a**hole.
@LemonCake07 Hey - my brother saw them on the Diver Down tour at the Garden...I was eight years old at the time. He thought Roth was horrible that night. He saw them again a few years back in LA - and thought they sounded as good as he's ever heard them...and he's been a fan since the beginning. It kind of depends how Roth is. I'm going on the 28th as well. I wish us both a great time. It will be my first Van Halen concert as well.
@rftc.unfortunately we all age. Tattoo is growing on me. The lyrics are definitely Dave. Fair Warnig- great album! a bit dark for VH. 5150 Awesome. I loved the Dave era- BIGTIME! I was one of those who when Sammy came in I was like a kid on Christmas, I loved how they reinvented themselves. A lot of people blame Sammy for that sound- Ed created the sound, Sammy's voice fit it perfectly.I will say post 5150 is pretty powerful stuff, AFU, Dont Tell Me, Black & Blue, to name a few. Luv it all!
Glad to see that so many younger kids seem to be figuring out that the first Rother era VH albums are basically a cornerstone of modern rock & roll. I saw them with Roth on tour a few years ago, and they are all shadows of their former selves, sadly. Still though, better than most of what you'll see in an arena. 5150 is worthwhile, but most of what came after that is fairly generic. Fair Warning was probably the high point.
@ninemilesgtrplayer Me too, bro!! Just bought my tix to go see them this morning!!! Unfortunately, I was born 3 years after this album came out, so I wasn't able to absorb the entire wave of VH quite yet. It will be my first time seeing them in person! I wasn't aware of their presence the last time they came through, but I wasn't going to let that happen again without experiencing them for myself!! I'm 26 now, so it will be an absolute thrill for me to get to see this, needless to say;). I'm
Alot of memories of the early 80s when I was 10-15 years old. The first concert I EVER saw was the LAST original Van Halen concert in Detroit in 1984, when I was 14. Incredible how music can make you feel how you FELT back then. Nice to listen to again.
nuthin but shit considerin there first alblum daves voice is terrible but it's a bad song i say it again there first was strong after that they fizzled

I remember as a kid listening to this and hearing that VH was from So Cal, I always attributed this sound of Ed's guitar in this song to what I thought "California must sound like" Even as a little kid I called this "the California sound" Still love it!
@pdtrainu ed grew up in the sixties,..its when he and alex first arrived in the us, and in so california the surfer scene was big. ...you can hear a little smidgen of that influence in this song here and there.
@Geekman333 It's an amateur-style thing, but in any case I, like you, can't really understand its placement in the song. Anything may go but I am still at a loss.
lol... for years (before the internet) I always thought he was saying "Get Your Sketch". I bet there's not as much mutilated lyrics these days since you can look them up so easily. I remember lifting the needle and trying to set it back down to keep listening to a part to try to figure out lyrics. Then came cassettes and "rewind/stop/play.......rewind/stop/play....rewind/stop/play..... wtf is he saying...rewind/stop/play...." Now it's just Google and "Song Title - lyrics".

i was gonna strike it dude you rule, lol F'n Roth 4 ever he's the undisputed leader of my favorite band maybe it's me that's got a problem with ed, haha ! oh shit...
@Schusnap Sorry, but personally, I think Van Halen 3 sucks. Van Halen isn't complete without Roth. They need all four element. Sadly, still not all original four elements are in place. Gary Cherone would/will never be able to fill in Roth.
@darthvapir You shut your fucking mouth boy. If David Lee Roth heard you say that he would deliver a jumping backwards round-house kick straight to your jaw Eddie plays Eruption in the background.
Eddie and Dave said in an interview that they were working on old tunes from the 80s that were left over.... i think the new album is gunnah be SICKENING; and i hope it clears out all the techno-pop and shyttie pop-country from the airwaves.... long live rock!
I LOVE THE FIRST 40 SECONDS OUT OF THE WHOLE SONG!!!! I am 15 and am a guitar player that first 40 seconds of the intro sounds so awesome plus I think I am the only BLACK person I know listens to Van Halen!!!!
@xMLKxGhost23x LOL. Good post . Do you know who beyonces guitar player is.. Bibi Mcgill. Not at all my friend, Youre not the first. Check out Bibi here on Youtube.
I love all Van Halen honestly. I am probably one of the few who even enjoys when Gary Cherone sang for them too. Music is color blind though. It's neither white or black. I always enjoy seeing music bring all races together and that there is no such thing as "white", "black", or "color music". It's simply just music.
@LastSunrise1981 ---- Yeah I know what you mean......I just noticed a lot of black people making comments about how much they love Roth-era Van Halen......kinda opened my eyes a bit since VH always seemed like a "white boy" party band LOL
factoid: David Lee Roth wanted to do a follow-up to this song entitled: "Big Banjos"...but shelved that idea until he released his solo venture "Strummin with the Devil"

i was gonna strike it dude you rule, lol F'n Roth 4 ever he's the undisputed leader of my favorite band maybe it's me that's got a problem with ed, haha ! oh shit...

@Schusnap Sorry, but personally, I think Van Halen 3 sucks. Van Halen isn't complete without Roth. They need all four element. Sadly, still not all original four elements are in place. Gary Cherone would/will never be able to fill in Roth.

@guitarhero923XBL Thats because it became Van Hagar, yeah of course it's not the same. I definitely prefer the Roth years

ETCH-A-SKETCH......ETCH-A-SKETCH !!!
LOL.....I always loved that line.....I used to play on that toy for hours on end in the early 80's.
Hunkola 7 months ago
@Hunkola It's actually catch as catch, not etch a sketch.

this guitar player couldn't carry a band if he had to, could he?
darthvapir 7 months ago
@darthvapir You shut your fucking mouth boy. If David Lee Roth heard you say that he would deliver a jumping backwards round-house kick straight to your jaw Eddie plays Eruption in the background.
MayhemSyndicateCEO 7 months ago
@MayhemSyndicateCEO well shit if you wanna suck his dick i'll try and arrange it for you. Eddie plays eruption in the background, loverboy
darthvapir 7 months ago

Eddie and Dave said in an interview that they were working on old tunes from the 80s that were left over.... i think the new album is gunnah be SICKENING; and i hope it clears out all the techno-pop and shyttie pop-country from the airwaves.... long live rock!

@LastSunrise1981 ---- Why do so many black kids love old school Van Halen ??
Hunkola 4 months ago
@Hunkola
I love all Van Halen honestly. I am probably one of the few who even enjoys when Gary Cherone sang for them too. Music is color blind though. It's neither white or black. I always enjoy seeing music bring all races together and that there is no such thing as "white", "black", or "color music". It's simply just music.
LastSunrise1981 4 months ago
@LastSunrise1981 ---- Yeah I know what you mean......I just noticed a lot of black people making comments about how much they love Roth-era Van Halen......kinda opened my eyes a bit since VH always seemed like a "white boy" party band LOL
Hunkola 4 months ago
@LastSunrise1981 you've never heard of black metal then have you? :P
dattebenforcer 4 months ago
@Hunkola Dunno. What I DO know is that good quality music always shines above the crap. Never fails.
Black or white...peace.

factoid: David Lee Roth wanted to do a follow-up to this song entitled: "Big Banjos"...but shelved that idea until he released his solo venture "Strummin with the Devil"
