Good work, George. You are clearly extremely dexterous. Now go and play outside a bit and enjoy being a child. If you decide it of your own accord, you can be a brilliant pianist.
Great to hear this played with such verve, charisma and passion, I imagine that's how Chopin would have played it. Congratulations on a performance that would be remarkable from anyone of any age, but all the more so because you have so much time ahead of you to achieve still greater things!

George, You play beyond anything I have heard from a young artist to date. You will rival the world's best pianists as time goes by-- no doubt about it. Enjoy the career that lies ahead of you to the fullest. I am 67 so I will have to watch and cheer you on from the other side. Bravo, young maestro.
It's good. The phrasing is excellent. The articulation is astonishing. There's a little too much tempo fluctuation. See my comments re the spianato. I believe the Polonaise needs to be slower. It's a slow dance. That needs to be the beginning point of the interpretation. Everybody plays the Polonaise fast except Josef Hofmann and the guy from the end of "The Pianist." Playing it fast makes it sound like salon music - which is admittedly is - but slower sounds better.
What an incredible performance. he has great sensitivity and I like his delicate and powerful phrasing thoughout the entire performance. Not a lot of pedal usegae which made every note crystal clear. A great performance which certainly puts a lot of his peers to shame
Not very many pianists in the world can play this piece let alone at his age. The teachers and audience gave George a standing ovation not for encouragement, but because he truly earned it.
You are magnificent. Although how good you already are, music is a long term exploration. Never get too satisfied to yourself and always want to do better. Try to avoid the present musical world that embraces the show-off technician like Lang Land, Yuja Wang, etc... Be someone who can change the whole musical scene. Be not just a musician, but an artist!
WHOA WHOA SHOW OFF TECHNICIAN? i can at least understand why lang lang would be called that, but Yuja Wang? Have you heard her Chopin Sonatas? You'll cry from the beauty!
She can play beautifully, but definitely not that Chopin SOnata, you mean Op35 and I think she raped that piece. No doubt she can play all the notes right. General cencept of a piece can ever lead to great art. Her first theme of the first movement was so fast and mechanical and one cannot hear anything but a flurry of sound. Second theme was all too predictable. Like a gross manufactured product
Technically, practically perfect. I wonder if you can't be a bit more lyrical - it sounds excessively choppy in parts. For example, the LH which sets the polonaise rhythm I would consider more in a 1-bar phrase with slightly more legato. The contrast in tempo between the lyrical parts (e.g. the C minor part) compared to the faster parts (e.g. the beginning) seems excessive to me. (cont'd...)
The difference in pedal use from the start (none) to the end ('normal'?) is a bit much. For the very last few E-flats of the piece have you considered not using any pedal at all? The resonance is usually enough of a 'pedal'.
Nevertheless, a very commanding perfomance and of a very professional standard (as I expect of all your performances now!) I wonder if the 'choppiness' is a result of too much (technical) practice and not enough sitting back and enjoying the piece?
Quel talent ! Superbe, et quelle maturité pour son âge, il interprète le morceau avec beaucoup de personnalité pour 14, je trouve. Son jeu est un peu sec sur ce morceau, quelques fausses notes, mais ce n'est rien face à tout ce talent !
I remember once, when writing to you, I said I hoped to hear you play my favourite Chopin piece, the Grand Polonaise, one day.
Well, my wish has now been granted.
Thank you so much.
As usual, you put your own "stamp" on the piece and it's so refreshing to hear young pianists today feeling free to interpret pieces as they see fit rather than playing the score as though it were written in stone.
Thank you, George. When you play this, what do you feel? I feel like everything that could possibly be said about everything in the universe is said in these two pieces.
This is superb! From the very first chords... in spite of the ghastly, acidic tone of the instrument...you take charge of the piece and sweep us all off our feet. Bravo!
you have such amazing talent George ! congatulaions !! since when you've been playing the piano ?
