this area was so cool that with the futuristic look,it makes you want to just live there. This is my house, and here is my living room, and over here is my ride........
I love those plastic futuristic, minimalist benches throughout Future World. I remember in 1982 being here and being fascinated at the automatic IR-controlled bathroom sinks and commodes
Ah, welcome to the wonderful World of Motion. Journey with us now as we show you how it really is fun to be free. Someone take me back to EPCOT Center, please.
I cant believe this ride has also GONE! what a crazy mistake! im sorry to say it but test track is totally amazing but its a whole different ride compared to this...this was inspirational and made me feel alive! my grandad loved this ride so mcuh its such a shame its gone! it seems like alot of these type of rides are now gone!!! and being replaced with all the typical rides we have everywhere!!!
please stop Epcot before you destroy the classic Beauty of Epcot
Apparently the Imagineers do not have the internet, or they would see that almost 100% of the people who comment on videos, post in forums, or discuss in groups are totally unhappy with what Epcot has become. I'm sure people think in their heads that Disney is 'just for kids' and the park is trying to compete with places like Universal for business but really, diehard fans deserve better than what we're given. Be it WoM, Horizons, Spaceship Earth, etc. - BRING BACK THE MAGIC!!
@MissDisneyUSA My dad, a mechanic and car buff would have Loooved this ride! We went in 2008 with my parents and he wouldn't get on test track. They only rode Spaceship Earth and Sorin and missed out on soo much! They really need to bring back the old stuff! My kids are Coaster Freaks but they LOVE the attraction rides at Disney! My 15 year old still loves the Pooh Ride in Magic Kingdom!
@Clay3613 My dad is 68 and he has a bad leg and is some what of a stick in the mud. I think hearing the car on the track speeding freaked him out. I just miss the rides that are more Attractions than Rides...they appeal more to the older crowd! And that was Walts main idea for the parks to begin with. I too enjoy the old Disney of it not being an Amusement Park but Attractions!
Doggone it, I miss World of Motion! I like Test Track, but why did it end up replacing this classic? Why??? This ride was fun and educational, and a step into childhood. I'm sure this ride, if it was alive, would've been gone anyway with GM's current situation. Still, I miss this baby.
Missed WoM by three months when I visited EPCOT Center for the first time back in April '96. I'd rather watch shaky, low-res video of this gem than ride the detestable Test Track.
This ride's drawback was its ending. The animatronic scenes leading up to the 1920s-1960s automobiles were detailed and fun, but they climaxed with speed rooms and a detached model of a future city with haunting music & sound effects ... almost no connection between the first 2/3 of the ride and the finale. The last leg should have predicted the future of transportation in a comical style that matched its prologue instead of falling back on footage from TRON. Still, it was a great ride.
Never cared for this ride. This is great for historic purposes but as an actual ride, well... it seemed rather boring. I remember being at EPCOT back in '90 and not really wanting to ride it. I think we did but I don't recall it at all.
I get a bit concerned when I see rides at WDW with no lines. When I was visiting in October there was no one in line for Pirates of the Caribbean or Spaceship Earth. We were literally the only people waiting (or not waiting) to get on.
October's a pretty slow season. I wouldn't be concerned if there are short lines then. If POTC gets a short line during Christmas or Summer, THEN you can start worrying
I was just there last week and Imagination had almost no line the whole time. It kind of made me sad. I remember in the late 80s and early 90s when I would go there as a kid and EVERY ride had a line!
Ah, I only went to EPCOT CENTER once in '90 when I was six and being alright with it. My favorite ride was Journey into Imagination because it had a cute cartoon dragon, colors, a rather Dr. Seussish feel to it, it really spoke to me more than the other EPCOT attractions.
I remember waiting for this attraction when the line stretched all the way out to the spiraling central ride path pillar. My dad always said that the building smelled like the Polish army though.
Back when The Future was something to look forward to.

I don't think that "contrast" is the word you were looking for.
