  • @hoteldota,

Sorry i have to keep that a secret on my youtube channel for now

  • kya baat hai, mani mama is in brilliant touch here. he is a genius. hands down my fav mridangam player. just sooooo creative.

  • one of the most naadham-filled renditions of the great KRM i've ever listened to....it sounds like what UKS is best known for in many parts of this clip :)

  • and wht a perfection wowww, this smiling man has! whether it is arithematic or 'historic', doent matter !! i always wonder listening him. thanks uploader

  • and perhaps FutbolFanatic90 (like me and many !) may not be very much aware of the kutchi-kappi, tanjavur-pazhani-pudukottai styles, enlighten on them also. Thanks

  • hi sonofdestroyer, ya it's a great news about uploading, thanks, but one more thing, and that is about copyright etc. if i upload from some old conventional audio casattes, how much i weigh in the legal platform? enlighten plz !

by the way your channel is fabulous, i am going thru' it slowly, more than that i see you, actively participating in almost all productive debates, hats off, and we will / shall / may / maybe / perhaps(!) be in contact whenever possible, ok....

  • @carnaticandslokam,

Thanks for your comments. I take risks also with the copyright. But usually i get told by someone if i have violated copyright and i take it down.

Most important thing is to announce that you are not making money off it. Even then the artist may not want it up. It depends. I say go ahead and upload and see

  • wow it's hightime to upload u k s - karai mani, which i got in audio form, but they are too lenghy, dont know how to upload... 4 hrs or so

  • @carnaticandslokam,

If they are too lengthy, then split them into smaller clips.

I use Windows Live Movie maker. It allows straight upload to youtube. Or you can use Windows movie maker.

  • wow/...is this u with a dolky?..nice figure¬¬..love it!!

  • have this audio..nice starting i tishra nadai and then taking it to sankeerna nadai!

    amazing!

  • My favourite part of this thani is 0:23-0:25

I didn't even know the Mridangam can make a sound like that..hehe

and for people wondering why possibly is "nadham" isnt as sharp, part of is due to him using a Kapi Mridangam, they provide a different sound when playing nam and thin compared to what Kutchi (90%) mridangists use.

Sonofthedestroyer- maybe you can create a video outlining the differences? if I had a Kapi and a decent video recorder I would do it -_-

  • @coswominn,

Yes if i had a Kappi i would. I blew the chance. My guru used to have a Kappi and now he has gotten rid off it. It was a high pitched one so i did not like it so much. So maybe if i got hold of a male one i can do a demonstration.

Kappis are almost impossible to find here in the UK. One master here has a collection of them but he wont allow anyone near his mridangams

  • if KRM had a little more nadham, it would be the ultimate sound.

Not that this isn't great already...

  • @FutbolFanatic90,

Not easy to get perfect nadham when playing that level of complexity i guess.

  • @FutbolFanatic90

I'm saying, the mirudhangams themselves that he plays never have much nadhams, its like he gives more importance to the mathematical complexities and not much to the sound which is equally important.

  • @FutbolFanatic90,

You think the mirudangams themselves are of poorer quality? Or just that he does not try to make the sound nice?

  • @sonofthedestroyer

Not the quality of mirudhangams but his way of tuning them and not trying to make them sound as nice as they can sound.

  • Oh no his mridangams have amazing nadham, they are pure kappi's, there is no one who plays kappi's like kaaraikudi mani. It is virtually impossible to play for more than a few mins and produce the nadham that he produces on kappi mridangams. The great Palghat raghu sir also used Kappi (altho slightly different way of making) and now I think the only legend who still uses them is T K Murthy sir but he rarely performs now.

  • the sollus just roar off his hands!

  • @Jannagan,

    KRM speciality.

  • Nice.
