The tank operating man inside the tank should deserve nobel peace prize because he chose not to kill a suspect facing him who might be a human bomb holding in his hands two suspected bombs or explosives . He saved this man who was naive enough to challenge a tank. If he is in Iraq or Algh or vietnam or any place facing army sent from the west, he is surely a dead man no doubt. All west trained soldiers would never tolerate any suspect acted as human bombs jeopardizing thier live.

This is my problem with government.. If you look up "The tiananment square massacre" you'll see that government slaughtered people in attempt to censor any ideas of a new democracy... All over opposition to gov't.. No different than an absolute monarchy at this point, they see that they should kill all those who oppose them, and thats just bullshit. I wish they would have gotten their democracy they deserved.

Anyone is wondering about the guy...it is right that way. But, this scene would be impossible without the tank DRIVER. The tank is not a robot, the soldier, in my opinion, is the greater hero. The guy in the front didnt had anything to lose, except his own life, but the driver, he endangered his whole family at home by disobeying the orders.

I've honestly never thought about it that way, but you're absolutely right. It's not the driver though, it's the commander who tells the driver where to go, add in the gunner & all 3 tank crew probably met the same fate as 'tankman'. Regardless, it's still a very inspirational video & I remember watching it at the time - blew me away back then, still blows me away now.

The students and workers protesting in Tiananmen Square in 1989 sang The Internationale, the Communist hymn. Turned those who had defaced Mao's picture to the police. They were massacred by the same CCP misrulers who were capitulating to U.S imperialism, siding with them against the Soviet Union, another workers state. Why anti-Communist hate the CCP leaders is beyond me.
