can you hear the sirens resound? from the coastline of Ireland tonight. it's the song of a promising heart. of the souls that the ocean unite. and she stands by the window alone. staring into the rain. she is trying to guide his way home. from the waters that keep them apart. so she lights up a candle for hope to be found. captive and blind by the darkness around. firm as a mountain, she never will mourn. timeless awaiting the break of dawn.
can you hear the sailorman's hymn? as it comes with the rise of the tide. it is sung where the rainbow begins. as a comfort for tears she has cried. she remains by the window alone. staring into the rain. she is trying to guide his way home. keeps on praying for god to protect him. she lights up a candle for hope to be found. captive and blind by the darkness around. each wave a promise, a new hope reborn. sunrise consoles at the break of dawn.
tears shed from my eyes while listening to this beautiful song. oh! how i missed my sailor husband so much...my favorite lines- "she remains by the window alone, staring into the rain she is trying to guide his way home keeps on praying for God to protect him." it describes exactly the thoughts and feelings of the sailor's wife... thanks Kamelot. XD
I love love love Roy's voice..... <3 It's funny though because where I'm from, his accent sounds very "moutainish" like he's from the country here, lol. I know he's from Norway though.
For those that don't know this is from their album "One cold winter's night" It's a great album. If you like them live then you should look it up. It's magnificent.
It is possible for you to send me this song by e-mail??? I cannot find it, even if I've been looking for it for three or four months... pleeeease! It would be an enormous favour!!! I love this live version! =)
I remember reading a poem a long time ago that I am absolutely certain is the basis to Kamelot's creation of this song. If anyone could suggest the possible title for the poem that would be sweet
@MindOfPagan - The first time i heard this song, i associated it with a poem written by Henrik Ibsen called "Terje Vigen" - it is about a man from Norway, who during the war in 1809 rows over to Denmark from Norway for food and other supplies. He leaves his wife, Anna, and his kids alone and they pray for his safe return. - In my opinion, it's a very good poem, which might have inspired this song. But the poem is in norwegian though, and i don't know if it's translated. i hope i helped!
000HaDeeL000 . acuslly they are extreamly famous. just not in america. they are one of the biggest bands on the power metal circut. they are HUGE in europe and parsts of asia :/
kamelot has been my favorite band for 6 years and running and this is my favorite song of all time by them. roy's vocals are beyond superb and the entire world should know of them and this song
if this song had been backed up by the same marketing machine that British and USA bands usually have, it would have become the world's top ballad, at the same level as Nothing Else Maters, Unforgiven and others..
This is AMAZING.
100 times better than Studio Version as JBester316 announced.
Sadly, i had MP3 version but it was overwriten.
But i still know where i can find one.
Roy is the best vocalist born in this Earth EVER!

@ipodchik Funny you said that. When I first heard this version, I thought: why does Roy Khan speak Hillbilly? Isn't he supposed to be Norwegian? :D

@LOLPombaer
