@backwordshiphop....this hasn't happened. But let's say for example someone has had a really good career and is respected yet by his own merit hadn't reached a superstar status, right? Now let's say you yourself are a superstar and are respected all off your very own work that has made you a legend. Now what would you say if that man reaches fame and fortune even if through tribute but off your own work that you poured your soul into? How would you feel if that man makes it off your own work?
@Jrv784 That's not what he did here, El put his own lyrics into every track the only thing he copied was the beats but even the beats were hand made, no sampling from Nas' tracks, this is Elzhi paying tribute to Nas and Nas already said he was okay with it or there would be copy-right issues.
I like everything but the intro Because i picture Elzhit shitting into a toilet. -__- "She was the shit like when you sit and let it fall in the stall" Don't hate on me i really like this but that Line Almost ruined the song for me
@biglharlemworld How can you not imagine someone taking a shit when the rapper literaly talks about shitting? He's a lyricist he paints pictures in the listeners head and thats what i saw. Its a dumb ass line
This is the best thing that has happened to hiphop in a very long time. Elzhi is bringing the "real" in hiphop back which is what it really needs. He's my new favorite emcee indeed.. And Will Sessions is just amazing, I could listen to the outro forever.
1:01 ? "thats why i f*** her even wen she bleeds" the lyrics in this a solid, which is expected when were blessed with another elzhi track but i dont get that line. hes talkin about how this girl is perfect not only physically but also mentally,
my father is a big fan of cz. niemen (kinda polish version of james brown) and few years ago on his bday I bought him his greatest hits lp and he was crying during listening then I thought when I come to be old i'll definitely do the same with other record but I was wrong...I'm about to be only 21 and crying like a spoilt child in front of empty christmas tree... this is such a masterpiece : O
@DaSwagSociety Im glad you wouldn't...good parallel tho...Biggie is light years ahead of Rick Ross...Elzhi doesnt have the noteriety of Nas but I think he's better...Nas is still one of my favs of all time!
Elzhi has much more lyrical dexterity than Nas..here hes jus giveing you one style, one flow illmatic recreated...better in my opinion...Nas should have paid tribute to Kool G. Rap one of the first masters of pattern flowing.
@sliccmoufschalaa I just don't see any similarity in the way they rap at all. Kool G uses multis for days while Nas will switch up rhyme patterns much more throughout a verse. Both are legends though.
@DaSwagSociety just get to Elzhi's whole catalog then...be honest!! He's paying homage to a classic here and not trying anything else except giving a generation something they missed out on.
@dapluva1 pharaoah monch, crooked i, royce da 5'9, joe buddens, sean price: they all said eL is one of the best mc's on the planet and one of the most underrated. well, i think when names like these say something like that, something's wrong, people gotta stop sleepin' and this mixtape sure is helpin' a lot.
"MY LAAAAWWWWDDD, Are you SERIOUS? The live instrumentation from this is brilliant and totally revamps it from being a simple 'Illmatic' cover, and plus it's Elzhi that's preforming and if you listened to 'The Preface' you should know already that ELZHI holds it DOWN.
~One 'Freakin' Love for this cover album :) .
I seriously would not mind if he does a 'Stillmatic' cover in future
~P.S. Fashawn also did his thing with his 'Ode to Illmatic' . "
@ArbyWanKenobi Elz is Elz.. He can never be nas and he knows it. Lets not get that idea to circulate. He killed this Mixtape/Album and show Niggas he can spit but in the thick of it..... Each Nas record was a template for his flow in all of these beats. Even he know he could'nt have spit some other shit on these beats.
