  • WHY WOULD YOU POST SUCH A MESSED UP VIDEO? POOR SOUND, POOR VISUALS! JUST RETARDED.

  • i played the clarinet solo part for my orchestra....its really hard to do that solo melody bit....but better faster that slower...

to all you borodin fans, i prefer tchaikovsky

  • so hard for trumpet! 8th grade band

  • OMG I have to play it in band class it is so freakishly hard!! I play the clarinet, so I don't get the melody and I get confused easily =(

  • i love this music!=)Borodin were the best russian compositor!

  • Limp. Tepid. Boring.

    (Everything that Borodin was not.)

What's next, chess matches with Bard College?

  • Bravo Vassar College Orchestra and Choir on a wonderful job of performing Borodin's beautiful Polovestsian Dances!

  • and the fact the altos sound like sopranos is probably due to the quality of the microphone in the camera

  • yes. a version with choir (the Berliner Philharmoniker didnt have a choir).

  • This is lovely. Anyone know if there a recorded version of a choir singing this?

  • You could try Chapells of Bond Street, London. They got me a recording of a choral version of this - it was a bit pricey, and it took 4 weeks, but they did it.

  • Many thanks.

  • Excellent piece, I found free sheet music for it on SheetMusicFox DOT com and absolutely love it!

  • the chorus is way to weak to be singing this, the altos sound like sopranos, idk I think the whole thing needs more work, specially the chorus

  • The clarinetist needs some more work on his/her instrument.

  • my school is performing this on may 25th

  • Just love the slow, steady tempo.

  • I think this is heavenly

  • Very nice (as long as you only listen and not watch)! The altos have a beautiful tone. Actually, they all do. They have a nice, light sound. My community chorus is doing the same piece this season, and I hope we can get at least up to this tempo!

  • Thanks for the positive feedback, good luck performing the piece!

  • Thank you for posting the video!

  • Can't you get a camera tripod ? Some of the world's most beautiful music and there you are messing around with a hand held camera. Sorry, but it's a mixture of agony and ecstasy.

  • this is kinda disapointing for college level

  • great, russian musik :) more plz

  • well... cant's say that's a great performance. especially the tepmo, very slow. it should sound more energetic, like a bomb which is about to explode, always on the edge.

what orchestra is it? where from?

  • we're learning how to play this song!! but of course they play it way better

  • Did that horn split in the beginning? or was it supposed to be like that?

  • whoa! the 4/4 section (starting at the clarinet solo) is really slow... trombones could have been more clear. Bass trombone needs to be a hell of a lot louder in the 3/8 section!

    such a great piece...

  • I agree about the Bass trombone. He does look hidden behind the stand, too. That kinda kills the fatness piercing through the way we'd like it.

  • haha. they're pretty good. orchestras a little out of time... my school, macrob, is currently working on this for our winter concert,... ahhha... 10X better... lol... nah thats just my school pride... well doen dudes.

  • How beautiful! I love Polovetsian Dances, and the Orchestra and Choir did a wonderful job on this. Kudos to your friend for taping this. :) And by the way, is the choir singing in a particular language, or just singing sounds like "oh!" and "ah!"

  • Thanks for the comments! This piece was written (and sung) in Russian.
