Telling someone it's selfish to kill themselves is also selfish, in a sense. I don't want anyone to kill themselves, it's tragic and a waste of life, but why would you want someone depressed and miserable to stay alive just for you? It seems like a selfish reason.

That is truly the only reason I've never tried to kill myself... because it would be selfish. The most important thing to me has always been to put others first and make them happy. Just recently I've been learning that occasionally its okay to put myself first. And each time I get to the point where I feel like it would just be easier to end this, God reminds me of the people around me that it would hurt.

Its really weird bc I was extremely depressed at one point and my mum and step-dad pointed out that it would be selfish to take my life and that was the only reason I didn't kill myself... that was literally only 2 weeks before I found this song... which was a few years ago...
i used to be depressed(still am a little) and my dad would would always say i looked sad and he would ask if i was okay and i would lie and say i am but i truley wasn't

Even though this is such a short song. . .it helped save my life. I remember listening to this song on my radio while I was putting stuff away, and I heard the line "He pointed out how selfish it would be to kill myself.". I paused and realized how selfish it really would be to kill myself. . .Man, Flyleaf's such an awesome band.
I know this song is supposed to make you not want to die, but somehow it just makes me that more content with killing myself. At this point I don't really care. I'm sick of being unselfish. I don't even care if my loved ones blow their brains out once I'm dead. If suicide is wrong, then I don't wanna be right. Even though this is such a short song. . .it helped save my life. I remember listening to this song on my radio while I was putting stuff away, and I heard the line "He pointed out how selfish it would be to kill myself.". I paused and realized how selfish it really would be to kill myself. . .Man, Flyleaf's such an awesome band.

I know this song is supposed to make you not want to die, but somehow it just makes me that more content with killing myself. At this point I don't really care. I'm sick of being unselfish. I don't even care if my loved ones blow their brains out once I'm dead. If suicide is wrong, then I don't wanna be right. I'll stay alive long enough to remain by my love's side, but once she's gone I'm done.

Actually there are ways for someone to hate their life, like being sexually abused at a young age like 5 or 6 years of age, and then suppressing it in like it never even happened then the memory comes back and brings you down, look I'm only 17 years old now but that is something that happened to me which made me hate my life and I still hate my life

This is pretty much the theme song of my life. I was depressed and suicidal until God showed me how selfish I was acting. There's people a lot worse off than me, and He reminded me.
