John McCain is an impressive man whose commitment to this country receives my respect and admiration. I challenge the notion that his military experience and theories are suitable for the Commander In Chief position over them. To me his Vietnam experience shows personal character, but not military competence. The Iraq War was unneccessary. Whether that's hindsight or was obvious at the time, either way those who voted for it have proven unfit to hold political office in my book.

Republicans and democrats alike all voted for war in Iraq. Even the likes of Pelosi and Dean were total hawks. There was no genuine opposition to the war anywhere to be found in Washington.  The system failed completely. Even those that didn't vote for it still failed by never making a genuine case against it. The war was a total blunder. The only genuine opposition came from the military and a slew of retired generals. They were the only ones who could see that the invasion was a blunder.

I don't think I'm for term limits because people should be able to vote for whoever they want, but incumbent politicians seem to get less and less connected with the country and more and more connected with their own self preservation in hording power.
