Hey my friend he sorta a big fella but i ride mtb and go on trails a lot and hes intrested about doing it bc he wants to lose weight do you think its a good sport to lose weight
U was talking for 3.02 minutes and didn't say anything useful. I know about advantages of this kind of bikes. So, tell me what should i look at when i am in the bike shop choosing a bike?
Anything about breaks, suspension, frame, speed shifter and etc?
@EscarHolmez You are NOT allowed to be in a lane of traffic unless your driving/riding a Register Vehicle. A bicycle is NOT allowed "street" legal unless it is an E-Bike. Those are also not street legal in certain states. Bicycles are supposed to be off to the side in the bicycle lane.
@ProTuner06 Oh really? I have only lived in 12 states and wouldn't claim to know all the laws, but I do not know of any state that does not allow bicycles on the road. The laws for Maryland, the state where I live now, are easy to find by googling, for example: maryland state code bicycle
It is true that: "Bicycles, motor scooters and EPAMDs are not permitted on any roads where the speed limit is more than 50 miles per hour or higher." (TR 21-1205.1)
is there any one i mean any who races thru citys on down hill bikes like cause i cannot find one agressive city ridin clip besides mesengers i AM TALKING ABOUT DOWN AND UP STAIR NO JUST TRICKING BUT RACING ? LIKE I GOT OVER 11 TICKETS ON MY BIKE 2 SPEEDING
is there any one i mean any who races thru citys on down hill bikes like cause i cannot find one agressive city ridin clip besides mesengers i AM TALKING ABOUT DOWN AND UP STAIR NO JUST TRICKING BUT RACING ?
I have a 2007 Specialized Stumpjumper Pro and it is awesome. It weighs 27 pounds so its not that heavy. I can ride it uphill really good and ride downhill really good.
HT bikes for begginers? Really? I don't agree. HT is a very nice bike for almost everything, You guys just don't need FS bike for more mountain tracks in the world. Seriously.
Totally disagree with hardtail bikes rule .Spend the xtra loot on a good full suspension with front and rear lockout best of both worlds , Absolutly dimolish hardtail on down hill runs like there standing still , and still stay under 30 pnds.
@kidnme101 i agree, i have a specialized rockopper pro 2010 and a specialized camber2011 and i prefer the camber offroad and jumping etc, but the rockhopper for going to school and cruising around town :) check out my video on my channel :)
However i dont know about "expert" at times he seems sort of dum. No offence cos in others hes completely correct ( just not the v brakes) their no very gud
@kno3nitro5cole yea u can get the levers for around 30 th 50 for a cheap set then the cables are around 20 then the disc and calipers are around 70 for cheap ones so suck it i have avid jucy 4 on my specialized big hit 2 form 2009 what do you have a piece of shit next bike.
@kaijiex3 disc brakes rnt all ways as good as v brakes as the cost more to buy and fix and highdrolic v brake (rare as they may be) are normaly more powerfull and lighter
all you that are spamming "NO DISC"or"IDIOT PROFESSIONAL" , i bet you dont have a better bike than this guy, this is a specialized s-works bike (which are very expensive)
with full suspension bikes it is good for going down really bad hills but it is less versatile on flat ground and up hill. hardtails are good for flat and uphills but will hurt you ass unless you stand up
@NSX86R The third time I used the bike the pedal fell off, After a while the bikes gears started to make mess. After that the brakes hold a tight grip of the wheel. After that the hose broke 3 times. Then the gears started to make a mess again.
@RobinEH94 So how old was the bike? and did you take it to your local bike shop or where ever you bought it? And had them fix that. When you say started making a mess are you referring to the gear change?
ya but when your bike is coated in mud pads do shit needs disks and i have a modified norco scrambler with disks bigger front susspention and down hill rims and tires on it and it is light and can handle wistler bike park no problem and thats a bad ass trail to ride on
For about $100.00-$200.00 you can go to Wal-Mart and actually get the Pro bikes such as TREK & Schwinn with Full-Suspension (Rear,Center,Front) and have disc-brakes and some skid-plating and guarding. =) Thumb's-Up for this tip.
@timmmurphy1995 just to warn you I would never buy a bike from walmart, even for that cheap. The components are junk. The handle bars frequently come loose, shifters break regularly, rims bend very easily, frames are stamped instead of forged. Even the trek and schwinn bikes are not up to the company's original standards. If you want cheap, look for used, I promise you'll find a better deal than going to walmart!
@timmmurphy1995 If I were you I wouldn't mess with them. It's best to save a little for a bike from a bike shop. Those wal mart bikes aren't true mountain bikes I didn't believe them until I bought one myself.
HOLY SHIT!!! You have a Specialized too???!!!! DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a Specialized Hardrock - I got mine on a discount at a local bike shop for only $420. It rides smoothly, and I can climb hills where riders with rear suspension cannot!!!!!!!!!!:)
The best thing I ever did was sell my full suspension rig and build a custom hard tail. So so so much faster climbing and I can go nearly as fast downhill. I love the feedback so much more than a full suspension too. Just a lot more fun, but everyone is different.
@TheLollypopkingdom I own a specialised rock hoper hard tail and i love it, however i disagree that specialised is the best make of bike, what about GIANT. i would say that the two makes are of an equally high standard
l have a hard Tail marin could you tell me the advantages and disadvantages using it as a touring bike? l jus bought a pair of rear panniers including racks and it fits perfect.
I'm looking at getting a new bike. I'll probably be spending around £380 to 420. I had a trek for around the same value for around 8 years until it was pinched out of the shed a couple of weeks ago, so now the insurance is sending at cheque out so I can replace. I'm looking at getting the new Trek 4300 2010 but then come across the CUBE aim - any suggestions ?.. thanks
@MrOurkid I bought a trek 4300 about a month ago still enjoying it. I got the disc brakes and the only issue is when i change a flat. I put the wheel back on and i always have friction on one side or other of disc. Other then that I have been riding pretty hard on single track with a few 2 foot jumps and all i do is tighten everything up once and awhile. Either way enjoy!
@dougie1112 I have the same bike, it was running into that issue, just realized that I was tightening the wheel too tight. Give it a few turns to loosen it up (pressure on the fork) and the rubbing should stop.
After you get your bike, learn how to ride it from the world's best riders at the Bikeskills Channel on YouTube. Subscribe and enter to win FREE gear!
I bought a Motobecane 300ht hardtail and have been upgrading it with cheap craigslist sales and i love the performance. I've learned to pump my legs to act as rear suspension and I don't have 1500 which is around the starting price for a pretty decent full without the best shocks.
Dude totally agree with megamonkey39, hardtailsare not for beginers in terms of skill, but an 800 dollar HT is alot better than an 800 dollar FS rig. Personaly all I ride is HT, maybe cuz I've never had a nice FS bike... Idunno.... Hardtails rule!
if it under warranty then call the manufacturer. If it's cold outside the oil in the fork is less viscose making the fork feel as if it's almost rigid. Download the pdf. manual from the fork manufacturer or have you bike shop change out the bushings and seals and put fresh oil in there (motorcycle fork oil will do 5 to 7.5 weight) and make sure your upper tubes which go up and down into the lowers as your riding aren't damaged (gouged, bent,etc...good luck)
Hard tail bikes will give more power transfer. Instead of loosing so much power through the rear suspension. It's a great commuter and dirt bike. It's no beginner bike.
And I'm a road rider, and I believe power transfer is hugely important.
Great. Ive got one and its much better than anything else at its price. very strong and well made and will take anything you throw at it . Great starter mtb.
Looking for advice? Not to mention the extra weight, cost & maintenance, rear suspension absorbs pedal energy especially on aggressive riding, sprints and climbs. In case you didn't already know this, I'm saving you the trouble of discovering it for yourself. You can so very much do without it !
@cuevarap the only complaint i have with the trek is the cheapo vee brakes, i swapped them for vee brakes off my at the time gfs old bike, needless to say the brakes are still workin great, the gf? gone!!
@cuevarap you obviously don't have a full suspension bike. Because the Orange 5 is lighter than my hardtail GT. You can also turn off rear suspension at the flick of a switch. My friend has many different bikes, including an orange 5, and he has taken the orange 5 to the alps, on many occasions.
i gt a avanti ridge rider, its a hardtail n came with hydrolic brakes n lckout on me shocks $800 aus, racing bike well i use it for racing its bloody good
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why should some one begin with hardtails bike!!! stop telling that shit to a beginner, beginners most buy your full suspension bike!!!!!! for get about hardtail, thats the past... forget the past go to the future, buy full suspension BIKES!!!!!!! DAMN!!!!
back suspensions absorbe pedal energy especially on climbs without mentioning the extra weight and price; unless you're a full time downhiller, front shocks are more than enough
dust on your rim with rubber brakes = no stopping like someone put oil on them. just need to buy some good disc that will last from the heat cuz they be smoking.
Buying a prior year model new bike is a good way to save bucks. Believe me, there aren't "that many" innovations to tell the difference and you'll still be enjoying the pleasure of riding a brand new bicycle.
my brother owed me money so i took his bike. its a gary fisher tassajara. hes never used it. i tookit to a trailon sunday and now imall into mountain biking. lol anyone from houston give me a holla and we can go trailin

Looking for advice? Not to mention the extra weight, cost & maintenance, rear suspension absorbs pedal energy especially on aggressive riding, sprints and climbs. In case you didn't already know this, I'm saving you the trouble of discovering it for yourself. You can so very much do without it !

@cuevarap i agree, i see ppl using their energy quicker versus hardtails, i have trek 3700 and i love it, its my baby
speedjunkie66 1 year ago 6
@speedjunkie66 Now that's a coincidence, I have exactly the same bike. It's a great make.
cuevarap 1 year ago
@cuevarap the only complaint i have with the trek is the cheapo vee brakes, i swapped them for vee brakes off my at the time gfs old bike, needless to say the brakes are still workin great, the gf? gone!!
speedjunkie66 1 year ago
@cuevarap you could always put lockout on the rear suspension.. duh..
alee1030 1 year ago
@alee1030 Sure you can, but for me rear suspension is an unnecessary extra load. Locking it won't make it any lighter.
cuevarap 1 year ago 28
@cuevarap i guess! but what type of riding do you do? roots suck with hardtails and you cant go nearly as fast. i have a 2006 kona coiler
N0obama 8 months ago
@N0obama Well, being not too much of a rooter, maybe that's why I'm more for hardtails. U've got a great bike.
cuevarap 8 months ago
@cuevarap thanx! i have nothing against hardtails its just i would rather have full suspension.
N0obama 8 months ago
@cuevarap or buy a decent full-sus that doesn't weigh a ton, and has lock-out shock/forks

@j4ck50n93 right
cuevarap 1 year ago
@cuevarap you obviously don't have a full suspension bike. Because the Orange 5 is lighter than my hardtail GT. You can also turn off rear suspension at the flick of a switch. My friend has many different bikes, including an orange 5, and he has taken the orange 5 to the alps, on many occasions.

back suspensions absorbe pedal energy especially on climbs without mentioning the extra weight and price; unless you're a full time downhiller, front shocks are more than enough

it seems like this guy is just bragging about his bike
pixuma 2 years ago
who gave this a thumbs down?
pixuma 2 years ago
HA HA! full suspension and gears are for pussies!!!
lol kidding, full suspension has it's place but learning on a hardtail makes you smooth as butter on an FS
but still... singlespeed is better... try to prove me wrong

dust on your rim with rubber brakes = no stopping like someone put oil on them. just need to buy some good disc that will last from the heat cuz they be smoking.

Buying a prior year model new bike is a good way to save bucks. Believe me, there aren't "that many" innovations to tell the difference and you'll still be enjoying the pleasure of riding a brand new bicycle.
