  • Anyone in this world that dare to even think that a drummer is not a musician is a fuckin stupid idiot piece of shit!!! the begginings of the music were in a percussive way something that's called Rythm the first human beings that started to emulate the sounds of nature did with percussive instruments they built because there wasn't any music knowledge until Pitagoras discovered 7 sounds that became the music notes please read a lil bit

  • So much control!! I love it

  • I hate how his lips smack

  • what's the name of the music track?

  • my name is antonio sanchez :)

  • He is the guy who is closest to `late´ Tony Williams of all drummers?!

  • Best Mexican Drummer LEO ACOSTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gohuskies583 The audience is simply so amazed by Antonio's awesomeness, that they've lost their ability to express themselves in any way ;-)

  • The audience is just sitting there looking so bored. WTF? Antonio is flipping amazing and they are just sittiing like a bunch of zombies. Are they paid to sit there? He is amazing!

  • I still maintain 95% of drummers aren't musicians, because no one wants to think melodically. He is among the exceptions who transcend the instrument.

  • @amcint01 This is such an ignorant comment.

  • Maintain THIS. Where did you pull that figure out of? Your ass? 95% are not musicians? Melody isn't about THINKING, it is about listening. Any good music teacher starts getting the drummer to LISTEN to the melody when playing in a jazz band class. Then when each player gets their solo the drummer is supposed to play melodically. Furthermore, drums are part of the rhythm section NOT the melody section, jerk. Antonio is very great but there are plenty of great drummers out there who are musicians.

  • @amcint01

    You're obviously an asshole.

  • This man is amazing!

  • He was a couple of years ahead of me at Berklee. Aside from learning whatever the curriculum would hurl at me I took from him outside of school. He was ridiculous. It literally got to the point where I'd pay to watch him play instead, and all that time I never saw where he parked his UFO.

  • None of the audience even smile at his story about how he started to play drums.

What's wrong with these "kids" ?

  • Antonio Sanchez > Chuck Norris

  • Antonio rocks out! ( ^ _ ^ ) Yeah man! Yeah!

  • god damn it!!!! how he can be so independent???? 4 lims and four brains. Incredible.

  • 22 ride cymbal?! man what a great jazz feel....!

  • 3:50-5min is incredible. It's like watching an epic tale.

  • He went to Berklee , Right?

    Berklee is awesome

  • Damn, this is so sicK! Wish I could play like this. Wish I had half his limbs' independence

  • What a tune!!!

    Migration... WOW!

  • this guy is really serious about music, when he plays with pat mattheny he looks weird, so into what hes doing

  • Awesome drummer!!

  • Antonio Sanchez is one of my favorite drummers of today. He basically just articulated my whole approach to both spoken language and music when learning a new language. I try to learn the accents, grammar, etc. Brilliant.

  • Whoah.. I love his use of tones and dynamics.

  • i don't wanna hear english. i clicked over here from a thread of danish newscasts. wtf? if i wanted my news in my own tongue, i'd watch fox.

  • is that a constantinople zildjian ride 22''??

  • gosh, this guy just flows in every aspect of being a drummer.

  • Really great!

  • You're lovable darlin'

  • I love his perspective on contrasts and dynamics.

  • Why are the expressions of all the students so muted?

  • I have been wondering about the same thing! It looks like they are just payed to sit there!

  • Looks like there are at least three cameras in the room. They must be making the students uneasy. That's my guess, anyway.

  • Amazing soul. Inspiring, universal....

  • this guy is a god

  • Respect !

  • skillz and love

  • the crash to the right is crazyyyy

  • By far, one of the best out there!

  • what a legend

  • yeahhh absolutely greattt!!!!

  • Yeah lol better than Peart not a ton of people better than Antonio haha. This guy blew my mind with the gathering sky thing I saw him play with pat metheny on TV "Austin City Limits" it was when we first got Tivo lol and that performance was on the tivo until we had to get a new box then i couldnt watch it anymore i was sad but damn is he amazing

  • the cream??.,....

  • sunshine of your life?

  • sunshine of your love!!!!

  • love?

  • simply amazing!

  • heh, now Yiu are better than N. Peart.

  • thats not saying much there are a ton of people better than that guy

  • U mean better than NP of course?

  • oh gran maestro

  • love it love it LOVE IT

  • saw him 3 times with metheny and once with josh redman.. simply one of the best ever, and my favourite

  • Great Antonio!! Mexican drummers are spectaculars & fantastic like Leo Acosta, Al Lopez, Richard Lemus & T, Contreras.

  • Travis who? Joey what?

  • lmao nice

  • @snowie0000 yeahh!

  • @snowie0000 auhauhauhauahuah ooo yeahh!!!!

  • yea .. he's not to bad.. :D

  • This is the sickest shit ive ever seen.

  • He could very well be the best drummer on the planet today...

  • saw him live. incredible.

  • I love his voice.

  • Great finesse

  • "The bad thing is not to be mediocre. The bad thing is to be mediocre and think that you are great."

  • He's absolutely right, dynamics is something too often lost on rock musicians altogether. They don't realize the power & application of dynamics. Also notice that his forearms are rarely ever on an angle upwards, his kit is easily accessible to him.

  • Its interesting to hear him speak about his transition from rock to jazz.

  • I saw that beautiful Mexican with Pat Metheny, he is a master of texture and creative thoughtfulness, not to mention that he has splendid technique.

  • watch a real mexican drummer Leo Acosta, as good as buddy rich and Gene Krupa.

  • seriously, are you retard??

  • It's not a matter of where the artist is from or how famous they were, it's about artistic skills, about sensibility. Leo Acosta was a very good drummer, he reminded me a litle of Big Sid Cattlet, you all shoul watch him, although there are not many nor very good videos here on youtube, but I think it wouldn't harm a bit of research before saying how good or bad he was at drumming.

  • what ride cymbal is he playing? it sounds wonderful!

  • At 3:05 what beat is he playing? Someone please answer thanks sooo much!

  • what do you mean hes improvising. Its sorta jazz latin?

  • The tune he's plating is called One For Antonio, by Chick Corea, you can find it in Antonio's album Migration, that's a tune Chick composed for Antonio. And I think that he's playing triplets on bass and toms around 3:05, he only doubles the last triplet on the air tom.

  • "i thought it was the most horrible thing" LOL!

  • lousy audience; i would of been outta my seat if i was there

  • looks like theyre at church

  • it's a just masterclass... not a concert.

  • what a misrable audience!! ungreatfull gits haha

    sanchez is great

  • thats funny....he said he thought art blakey sounded bad..lol..obviously he has grown up to be extraordinary

  • that audience looks like a bunch of zombies. Great video though!

  • but check out the chick in 1:08

  • wow i could see how antonio has growing and study his swinging better and better

  • why are all of the people in the crowd so afraid to look like they are enjoying themselves

  • they're too busy nodding sagely and overanalyzing his performance while not really understanding what's going on. It's a drumming masterclass, what do you expect.

  • Someone do tell me what just happend here please.

  • you are the best drummer i mean it!

show american rookies how drums has to be played, Antonio, en México y en el mundo eres el más chingón, ningún pinche gringo te iguala!!!

  • "(...)rookies how drums COULD be played(...)"

from metal to jazz, from punk to fusion..all styles are valid

  • nice hes a humble dude :) the best are truley humble.

  • God! Ilove the sound of his floor tom... I'ts so nice, all his drumming.

  • yeah He sounds good..! the the thing is that, he is mexican, guys you have to watch this guy....LOL.....Benito.

  • I'm the Asian chick in the front row...

  • so you´re the girl in the front row huh?

let me tell you, you are beautiful, i was like

... if i could get to meet that girl ...

that´s coincidence pretty much, but you are really cute...

  • i love him!

  • HAHAHAHAH

  • Yep!!!..First row baby!!!...lookin great as always too! miss ya girl.

  • hey what´s you msn adress? ...to talk better

  • how long have you been playing?

  • yeah thats right. I´m with you when you said that everyone has a special attribute.

By the way, do you play drums?

  • yeah i know but it was just my opinion, for u..

    Who is the best?

  • anybody knows when the dvd will be available?

  • He is the best drummer i think

  • Well he studied at Berklee for 4 years, and he current lives in New York. How could his English be bad?

He's outstandingly good. Love his trio work with Metheny. Def buying the DVD.

  • he is the best

  • fantastic!
