@Kiesel Doesn't matter. I don't have to believe in or follow society's "ideal" educational system. I could have found my own way to obtain knowledge. But I still obeyed my parents and respected their vision. It's one thing to reject your neighbor spouting religious bullshit. But it's another thing to go against your parents and to refer to their religious figures as "fairies" is pretty damn disrespectful especially when you've been following the family tradition for so many years.

@Kiesel Depends on what traditions I have to follow. I call it as I see fit. If they're doing torturous things to me then I would have a right to disown them. I'm assuming the kid in the video isn't exactly suffering by going to church and having Christmas dinner with his family. He is just a kid who needs to obey his parents. When he becomes an adult he can make his own rules and follow whichever religion he chooses.

How many succesfull people didn't complete High School? Now compare how many successful (or moral, if that's your concern) didn't go to church. If a kid had any respect for his family members he'd find a way to compromise (within reason). There were a shit ton of things I hated as a kid but I lived through it and as an adult I've come to find out while I didn't agree with certain things they were implemented to help me learn good values. Most religions teach positive outlook.

Another example of why I am proud to be an atheist. I never once treated my kid this way for having a different opinion than I did. I encouraged my daughter to think for herself. Meanwhile, some "Christians" feel they have to threaten children who do that in order to make them stop it.
