@barber747 That's a gag that's kind of lost its context in this short clip. This was from a special week in Los Angeles and Dave promoted the viewer mail segment that week as being a special week where "All the letters are from viewers here in Los Angeles." And for each letter, the actual hometown was crossed out and replaced with Los Angeles.
He crossed out Chicago and wrote Los Angeles because they taped the show that week in LA instead of the usual New York. Every letteer during that CBS Mailbag segment was "from" Los Angeles with the real places crossed out. They did that a few other times for different cities.
It's too bad that Dave couldn't have replaced Bob as the host of "Price". He would've been a million times better than Drew Carey!

What was the point of Chicago, IL being there if it was crossed out?

Think they flew Dave all the way out to LA for that?
m1049 1 year ago
@m1049 It's from a special week taped in LA. Dave would have been in the building anyway.
AdamNedeff 1 year ago
@m1049 Letterman and Leno would usually trade places for a week or two each year (Letterman in L.A./Leno in N.Y.).

Was Bob Barker ever on his show!? and the contestant was cute!
bluejayforever2006 3 years ago 6
Well, in a way he was. Around the time of his retirement, he did a Top Ten List, but he was still standing in studio 33 in Hollywood.
bluebear1985 3 years ago
He's been on Craig Ferguson where he chopped his desk in half demonstrating his Chuck Norris Training

Thanks for posting. It would be great with some longer clips from letterman (1991-1996 era), like some complete opening remarks etc.

I've never seen that before. That's hilarious!
