taking a walk works for him..? look at his stomach he's lying..what about all of those kids? is he supposed to be working with them? don't they run around everywhere and if they did wouldn't he have to chase him down? he must weigh at least 400 pounds

What an incredibly asinine "news story." Autistic children don't have meltdowns because they want attention. Maybe they're overwhelmed by the classroom atmosphere. You make it sound like they're criminals who need to be dealt with, when they are struggling just to function.

Yes. Autistic children cry because they DON'T want attention. When I cry, it almost never means "Come and comfort me." It means "Stop bothering me." I've been like this since I was a baby.

In fact, when I have meltdowns I would like nothing better than to be ignored. But I distract other people and upset them, so I'm working on stopping the tantrums before they begin.

@froggybelly5 Sometimes it is attention seeking behavior. Every child wants and needs attention. Attention is very important to a child. If you can't communicate the need for attention, then meltdowns can occur.
