A very good effort; the characters were likable at the get go; the music aided in emotion; the shots never bounded out of necessity.

One bit of advice I can give is to always take the journey worth taking. Sometimes your material outweighs your original source ideals. In this case, I found the movie to be much more captivating up until the "twist" - when the characters were still likable and relative. Sometimes the best thing that can happen is when your characters become real.
