Even though this was the movie ,I've enjoyed it and tnd to understand the play better.I believe someone just straightened out the movie actors name for me . If i understand it correctly  his name is Gerald Butler, although everyone uses Erik on the stage and the picture. I hope i got this correct as I thought Gerald Butler was really good!

The Actor who plays the Phantom is named Gerard Butler, and they call him Erik because that is the Phantom's real name: Erik. If you haven't seen the 2004 version with Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum, i suggest you do, it is so amazing.

I think the whole 'lying delilah' thing comes from the bible... As I understand it It's the story of Samson and Delilah,she lies to him and makes him tell her the secret of his strength and she betrays him to the enemy...

More or less. That is what I think Erik was feeling: that she had betrayed him and made him feel week by removing his mask..

I like how everything in the Phantom can be explained:) that's another reason for why I love it so much^^

You see there are at least two different books that have been written to do with this story, one is the original book by Gaston Leroux , the other is ''the Phantom'' by Susan Kay(great book), and in both his name is Erik:) aka the Phantom ... so some people still call him Erik:) And yes the actors name is Gerard Butler^^ and yes this story truly is a classic, perfect :)

I'm a big fan of phantom of the opera but in the original silent film The phantom was a psycho murder that escape from prison and lure Christine in with music until she saw him with the mask she was afraid but she still wanted to know who is under that mask. Later on I think people just tweaked with the storyline making the phantom more sympathetic and even good looking half way while the original his whole face was ugly.
