I have to say I like this version of this tune over Buffalo Springfield's recording. It's a shame it wasn't released here in the us. The recording sounds way ahead of its time. Has a 1970 sound to it than 1967 when it was recorded.
@IRanOutOfPhrases Who cares? That doesn't make the song any less awesome. Call me crazy, but i personally prefer this version to Neil Young's version. (probably because I heard this one first)
@coalb389 That's fine. Everyone has their own preference. I just saw there was some debate on it. Seemed kind of silly when the evidence was right there.
Some of the Guess Who's earlier works, like this song, Hey Ho What You Do To Me, and Shakin' All Over should have been bigger hits in the US like they did in Canada. Whether it was Chad Allan or Burton Cummings being the lead singer, the Guess Who is the best band ever from the Great White North-and this is from an American!
@JayBBluejay i think we took the Guess Who to our hearts.i like shakin' all over which was done by Johnny Kidd in 1960.one other fav was we can't go on this way.these are early GW.later my fav is"I found her in a star"but Burton or Neil can do no wrong in my eyes.i have a ton of their vinyl.

Did you like this Christine? It's quite different from their other stuff but they always did have a softer side which I also enjoyed. Toke has some real hard to find stuff on his channel - a lot of it almost unheard on radio.
I do like it Cj, and more with each listen :) It must be a hard to find one.. very cool indeed. I thought I heard most all of the Guess Who's songs.. guess not. lol
No! This version came out in early 1966, and the Buffalo one was out later. So Neil's own version is actually the cover & this is the original. Funny eh?
Actually, the Guess Who version was recorded March 3, 1967, according to Randy Bachman, in the liner notes to the compilation CD Made In Canada. The Buffalo Springfield's first album was released October 1966.

Well, no, not really! Since Neil Young wrote it...and he was in the Buffalo Springfield!
But this is the very first cover ever of a Neil Young song!

Can you cover your own song?

Totally groovy version of original by Buffalo Springfield.
A pure perfection in arrangement & sound!
